I wonder if the words "After his retreat from federal politics..." might really mean "After his retirement..." or "After his withdrawal...". I know that in French, "retraite" can mean both "retirement" and "retreat" (and it readily suggests "retreat"), and I wondered if the unusual choice of "retreat" here really did convey the right meaning in English for some idea originally expressed in another language.--PaulBetteridge (talk) 15:45, 21 October 2019 (UTC)Reply
