Help needed in officially updating my father's page as he has passed away edit

Hello,

I haven't used Wikipedia before. I'm trying to update my father's page as he has passed away. I assumed I was doing it right, but it keeps getting reverted, because I'm not doing it right. :) Some help and guidance would be appreciated.

Request edit edit

  • Information to be added or removed: I want to update the page, but I have an apparent COI as I am his son. None of my changes have any ill-intent.

I want to do the following: - Add the date of his death - November 25, 2020 - Location of his death - Sechelt, British Columbia, Canada - Update is name to his full birth name - William Edward (Ted) Elgin Lewis - Make some minor text changes including:

 - He was survived by his sister Donna, son David and granddaughters Haley and Megan
 - Grammar changes to the tenses used on the page since he has passed
 - Add this text at the bottom of the biography: He loved the West Coast and spent his final years near the ocean.

- Want to remove the block of text at the top about it being for a living person

  • Explanation of issue: I am the son of Duris Maxwell. I want to update his page but I have a "conflict of interest" and need help making changes.
  • References supporting change: - obituary from funeral home:

I am closing the edit request, as some of the changes were already implemented (some by Unfortunatebiologicalson himself). Full legal name, date and place of death, grammar changes are all implemented. The memorial requested phrases (surviving family members, his love of the west coast) are not acceptable for Wikipedia and haven’t been implemented. Ferkijel (talk) 10:41, 30 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
