The article's quality is still a long way short of where it needs to be, although I have recently removed a trough of unsourced, POV material. It badly needs additional sources, and some editors desisting from adding unsupported speculation, hear'say and codswallop. Can anyone assist to improve this article ?

Trevor Burton/Electric String Band

It is stated that Laine formed the Electric String Band in December 1966, including Burton, who was a "former member of The Move". Burton was a member of The Move from early 1966 to 1969. Was he a member of Laine's band in parallel with his career in The Move; or are the dates wrong; or is it a different Burton? Matthau (talk) 03:48, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Solo Performer?!

Laine Hines

Someone very obviously doesn't want any one to know that Denny Laine's son Laine Hines is a blues musician. He is. I've seen him and he is very good - that last bit, obviously, isn't something that would be welcome on a Wikipedia site as it is my own opinion but the fact that Denny Laine's son is a blues musician is a fact and is just as relevant to Denny's personal life section as the fact that Zak Starkey is a musician as well as being Ringo Starr's son. When I added this in it got taken down because, "We don't use any kind of self published site as a source," although, of course, a record company web site would be accepted despite the fact that they self publish their news. And I didn't publish the site I cited anyway. Anyway, look him up. He is a blues musician and he is Denny Laine's son: "https://www.google.com/search?q=laine+hines" I still think that the fact Denny Laine's son has followed in his father's footsteps and become a blues musician is relevant. Music Shop

In 1981, Deny opened a music shop in Church Street, Weybridge. I walked past it regularly.

Birthplace

There are many sources which state that Hines was born in Tyseley, Birmingham, England. Here's the entry at FreeBMD: [1]. Yet the BBC alone here now says Channel Islands. Which is correct? Martinevans123 (talk) 20:38, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

I see that Britannica has "near Jersey, Channel Islands": [2]. But then they also give his birth name as simply "Brian Hines". Martinevans123 (talk) 23:05, 5 December 2023 (UTC)

Denny, Brian Hines, was born in Birmingham. The "Channel Islands" were under Nazi occupation in October 1944, so it would have been IMPOSSIBLE for his parents to travel back to Warwickshire to register his birth. If the BBC or Britannica were willing to pay the 10 pounds to get a copy of his birth certificate, there wouldn't be this continued nonsense. Just like Roy Wood (another Brum Beat artist) is not called Ulysses. Brian F Hines' birth was registered with Warwickshire county council in the last quarter of 1944, this fact alone should completely eliminate any talk of Nazi Occupied Channel Islands. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.77.114.48 (talk) 05:59, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't even thought of that. I'm not sure how BBC or Britannica work, but birth certificate are not considered as good references here as they are WP:PRIMARY sources. There are plenty of secondary sources, however, which say Tyseley and I'm not sure why BBC and Britannic trump these. Martinevans123 (talk) 08:30, 6 December 2023 (UTC)

How does one explain the birth registration record? Even if it was possible to leave the Channel Islands in late 1944, would registration of the birth in Birmingham be allowed? I assume the rather vague "Channel Islands" may have arisen from there being a single registration district for all islands. Perhaps special conditions applied during war time? I see that the National Archives site says this: "There are no birth, marriage or death records for the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man available to see online." Can't help with any of that I'm afraid. Did a Google Books search and unearthed a Danish TV interview from 1976 where Denny says "I was born in Birmingham."[3] But maybe he hadn't been told that he was actually born in the Channel Islands?
