Talk:Boomerang (Australian TV channel)

Future edit

How do we know they have been completely scrapped? Programs are often taken off channels after a while to enable another series to run, and with the amount of shows Boomerang has access, there are more programs than can be shown on the channel at the one time. I vote that this section is a load of rubbish, Courage the Cowardly Dog is still screening on Cartoon Network. Reubot (talk) 06:41, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's not a load of rubbish because Boomerang has stopped showing all of the classic HB shows (not including in the middle of the night) except for The Smurfs, The Flintstones and Scooby Doo in favour of Cartoon Cartoons and other shows. Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo are repeated so heavily that when I switch on to Boomerang I can bet that one of those shows will be on. So you can't tell me that Boomerang isn't removing those shows permenantly. 124.176.171.123 (talk)09:17, 15 February 2008

Find me some proof and then maybe I'll believe you. Reubot (talk) 08:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the late reply mate, but it seems Boomerang is bringing back a few old shows to Saturday afternoons in June. I can't get over the fact that they would put a show like Out of Jimmy's Head on Boomerang when it isn't even a cartoon (neither is Fraggle Rock, but Boomerang still claims that Out of Jimmy's Head is their first live-action series). Anyway, I think I'll stay away from Boomerang until they drop all the new stuff and bring back all the Hanna Barbera Classics. (talk)18:37, 3 June 2008

Tooncast? edit

What's all this drivel about Boomerang being replaced? There hasn't been any announcements made by Time Warner nor has there been any advertising on either Cartoon Network or Boomerang that Tooncast will launch in Australia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.124.89.130 (talk) 07:09, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Someone is inventing false information about that "Boomerang" will be replaced by "Tooncast", so is semi protected article--Csvh indu (talk) 18:49, 10 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Moved from speedy rename edit

  • Strong oppose speedy rename The Boomerang is from Australia (hunting weapon), so it would naturally be what is meant. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 02:38, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
Boomerang (Australia) already redirects here, so this article should be moved to that title. If you're concerned that people might be looking for the hunting weapon, a hatnote can be added to direct people to Boomerang (disambiguation). There you will see that the articles about the TV channel do not have those words in the title, because they are unnecessary. Fortdj33 (talk) 15:09, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
See also Cartoon Network (Australia), Adult Swim (Australia) and Toonami (Australia) for how this naming convention is usually used. Fortdj33 (talk) 17:12, 29 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Survey edit

  • Strong Oppose per my objection at speedy rename WP:RMTR. The boomerang is from Australia, using "(Australia)" as the disambiguator for the TV channel is one of the most ambiguous disambiguations you can possibly have, since it isn't even the most likely topic for a boomerang from Australia, which would be the actual primary topic of boomerang, the boomerang. Just because there's an incorrect redirect pointing here is the wrong reason to move the page. Instead the redirect should be corrected to point to the hunting weapon. -- 76.65.128.222 (talk) 04:57, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose The need to correctly disambiguate the link trumps any naming convention. When I see the title 'Boomerang (Australia), I think of the boomerang. The other channels mentioned by Fortdj33 don't have any other instances which could easily be confused. -- Harryboyles 05:14, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose The descriptor "(Australia)" does nothing to indicate what the topic of the article is. If Boomerang (Australia) redirects here, then the redirect needs to be fixed. -- Chuq (talk) 09:56, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose Boomerang is undoubtedly the primary topic but, as stated by 76.65.128.222, it's not a likely search term for the weapon. Boomerang (Australia) would best be a redirect to Boomerang (disambiguation). --AussieLegend () 10:36, 30 August 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: The moment this RM fails we should change the redirect Boomerang (Australia) to Boomerang (disambiguation). Mark Hurd (talk) 02:10, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Note: Fixed malformed RM by altering the redirect Boomerang (Angola and Mozambique) to Boomerang (Portugal) and its proposed target to Boomerang (Portuguese TV channel). Please adjust if needed. Paine Ellsworth, ed.  put'r there  12:25, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
