Merge proposal edit

Support merge of Ahn Eak-tae into Ahn Eak-tai (with redirects. Ahn Eak-tai seems to be more prevalently used, and may have been the romanization Ahn himself preferred. Badagnani 08:40, 15 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Clarifications edit

Thank you so much for your peer review! The article feels fresh and clean now. Here are the answers. Please make changes as you see fit because honestly I don't know how to deliver these details in suitable format.

  • I think that it was a roofless car.
  • wouldn't this be the cello of one of the friends rather than belonging to all the friends?
I think his friends randomly let him borrow from day to day, like taking turns.

  • Yes, concours is competition here. Thanks a lot! (Wikimachine 01:37, 28 November 2006 (UTC))Reply

This Site edit

Does this site tell the truth about Ahn's 1928 concerts in Korea? I thought it was in summer of 1926. (Wikimachine 02:44, 30 November 2006 (UTC))Reply

GA on hold edit

  • References go after puncuation, not before, so Orchestra[1]. will be Orchestra.[1] etc
  • An article this size needs a two paragraph lead
  • Web references arent formatted properly, check {{cite web}}
  • External links go at the end of the article
  • See also, has one link, surely it can be merged into the body or removed
  • [7][4]. should be [4][7]
  • The article reads way too much like a story, he did this, he got accepted into this, in the summer he did this,
  • Ahn returned to Korea|||after 11 years away from home. redundant
  • Some sentence don't flow very well, example Therefore, Ahn sought for a job, and was hired in a luxurious restaurant to play his cello[10]. Even this was not enough to pay for the school tuition, Ahn would not graduate. As Ahn suffered from financial hardship, his friends offered help.
  • title heading 'In the United States' then 'Europe', keep it just to United States or America. Also add this template at the top of external links

Thank you so much! I'll make the changes immediately. (Wikimachine 19:24, 6 January 2007 (UTC))Reply
All changes were applied, and the article doesn't sound like a story anymore. Or are the grammar fixes in themselves erroneous? Don't forget about this article! (Wikimachine 01:38, 10 January 2007 (UTC))Reply
I'm still here. Only problem now is references like this [35][1] , [26][4](should be smaller number first) and a few more of those, only minor so i will pass this. M3tal H3ad 02:15, 10 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I'll make those changes (I made more problems in the process of fixing) (Wikimachine 02:34, 10 January 2007 (UTC))Reply

Checking against GA criteria edit

To uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of September 13, 2009, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR.

GA review (see here for criteria)
  1. It is reasonably well written.
    a (prose):   b (MoS):
This article is not "reasonably well written". The prose is rather poor with clumsy phrasing and poor grammar. I suggest a thorough copy-edit. It would be good to incorporate a musician infobox into the Korean person one.
  2. It is factually accurate and verifiable.
a (references):   b (citations to reliable sources):   c (OR):
There are a number of dead links which have been tagged, some in the ELs; I assume good faith for the sources in Korean. The book which is referenced needs an ISBN
  3. It is broad in its coverage.
    a (major aspects):   b (focused):
It struck me that there was no real detail of his life in occupied Europe during WWII. Was he regarded as collaborator? Why was he forced to leave Paris?
  4. It follows the neutral point of view policy.
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. It is stable.
    No edit wars, etc.:
  6. It is illustrated by images, where possible and appropriate.
a (images are tagged and non-free images have fair use rationales):   b (appropriate use with suitable captions):
  7. Overall:
    Pass/Fail:

On hold for seven days for the issues mentioned above to be fixed. Major contributors and projects notified. Jezhotwells (talk) 23:17, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Recently, many GA/FAs are re-evaluated and this seems to be one of them. (I've been working to prevent from a FA delisting) I can replace dead links with other sources and confirm Korean sources, but I think native English speakers' help for proofreading is really required.--Caspian blue 23:33, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
WP:COMPOSERS are generally against using infoboxes in such articles. The Korean name infobox is fine, but I don't think it needs another. PC78 (talk) 23:57, 5 September 2009 (UTC)Reply
I found an archived link for the Yonhap article. No joy with the others, though. PC78 (talk) 18:40, 6 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

There has been a request for an extension for a further seven days. I will extend until 19 September. No serious harm is done if the article is delisted, it can always be re-nominated at WP:GAN when fixed. Jezhotwells (talk) 11:51, 8 September 2009 (UTC) The primary editor has suggested I delist [1] as they do not have time at present to address these issues, so de-listing.
