1D1D (disambiguation) – Like with "Bieber", it's quite obvious that the most common use of the word 1D is that of One Direction. Being the biggest boy band in the world right now, there is no denying that One Direction far overshadows all the other uses of "1D" GeicoHen (talk) 01:21, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose. Unlike Bieber, which is a surname and can reasonably be expected to point to any person with that surname who eclipses the rest, this is a designation that can refer to things that are far more fundamental than any person or band, such as dimensionality. bd2412 T 02:48, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per BD2412. In addition, "1D" is an informal or colloquial (semi-obscure?) abbreviation of "One Direction", not a wp:commonname. walk victor falk talk 04:44, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose: If there is a primary topic for 1D, it is the mathematical concept, notwithstanding this week's WP:RECENT pop band. —BarrelProof (talk) 06:33, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose for all the reasons given by others. olderwiser 13:39, 29 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose "1D" is obviously one dimensional, not "One Direction" which is an ephemeral flash in the pan pop group. Just as "2D" and "3D" already have deep meaning nothing to do with WP:RECENTISM of pop groups. The math/physics concept far overshadows some boyband that will disappear like others have before it. -- 65.94.78.70 (talk) 07:38, 30 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
  • I do not agree with the cries of WP:RECENTISM towards the band--this is a band that has already reached a reasonably high level of notability, and probably one of the 100 most "notable" musical acts of the century. Wikipedia, were it written for the first time in 2113, would almost certainly have an article on them. The acronym being applied to this group, however, is rather ephemeral, but more to the point it's unclear that the band is primary topic for this redirect. If the band's actual name was "1D" and it was commonly known as such, we'd have a real discussion on our hands, as "1D" is nowhere near as common as "2D", etc... as it stands, I can safely oppose. I know you think it has primary topic for this exact title, GeicoHen, but it's looking to me like it doesn't. Everyone else in the room can see it, everyone else but you.   Sorry, please forgive me, I couldn't resist!! (In the future, you might try including sources that prove your assertions, like in this case how you're asserting that "1D" most commonly means the band. People here, including me, are using their gut instinct because you gave them no sources to go on.) Red Slash 06:08, 1 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
