It has begun edit

Started this portal - but I'm not sure what is supposed to happen. But if other broad subjects have a portal, then so should beer. Drink up! SilkTork 23:49, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Is there any point to this? edit

Comment edit

There really aren't a lot of topics under beer. Perhaps a Portal:Beverage instead? --TBC ??? ??? ??? 03:43, 30 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Beverage alone would be huge. How about Portal:Alcoholic beverage? Think outside the box 15:24, 23 February 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree. SilkTork *YES!

Well you got Portal:Drink as a general home page for all beverage related articles. --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 06:14, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pub/Drinking establishment task force edit

Anyone interesting in working for a while on improving the pub articles? Sorting out the stubs. Organising the categories. Creating a Pub InfoBox. Drawing up some kind of notability guideline, and checking that pub articles are meeting the guidelines. Drawing up a Style guideline. Working on the editing of the main articles - Public house,List of public houses in the United Kingdom, Bar (establishment), etc. Considering how to integrate all the drinking establishments around the globe. Perhaps create a new parent article: Drinking establishment. I've started working on the pub articles, but I would really like to work with other people to bounce ideas and keep within consensus. Check in at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Beer#Pub_Task_Force, or respond here or drop a message on my talkpage. Cheers! SilkTork *YES! 18:59, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Updates edit

I've spiffened the portal up a bit, so what do you think? -- MISTER ALCOHOL T C 06:03, 4 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Brewing edit

How does one go about starting a new field/aspect to the portal - I'm new here and there seems to be an opportunity for information on brewing senso lato as a producer to supplement to the consumer's side which would be the beer aspect.

What field are you thinking of adding? --Jeremy ( Blah blah...) 04:36, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I realised if you're new - best you get to settle down before making comments. There is a Category:Brewing that would answer my question - just with gaps in it that the QE2 could get through quite easilyAndbrew.downes (talk) 10:55, 15 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Changes to the portal edit

Hey all,

I have recently begun a series of changes to the portal to make it more dynamic. I am altering how the sections behave by adding the {{random portal component}} template. This will change the articles each time the portal is visited/refreshed. This will involve restructuring the sub-pages quite a bit, so do not be alarmed if you see {{db-author}}, {{db-reason}} or {{speedy}} appear on some archive pages, this is just me moving the data to the new sub-pages. You can see an example of how this will look at any of the F&D portals, food, drink or wine.

There are some new templates that are used to ease the creation of new articles, there is a link to them at the top of the Selected foo sub-page that you can use when you add new articles. All new articles should go at the bottom of the Selected foo page in the first available article sub-page link.

I have completed the Selected articles section and created the Selected persons section with about a half a dozen entries. Next, I will be working on splitting the Beer/Brewery of the week section into Selected breweries and Selected beer sections next, using the {{Selected business}} and {{Selected product}} templates for these. You can see how this will work on the Wine Portal page, specifically the Selected wineries section.

Removed statement that beer is the oldest alcoholic beverage. This is controversial at best. Pretty unlikely when you think about it. See discussion on the beer talk page. Dr Thermo (talk) 23:27, 6 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rebooted portal but no one looked at the result edit

Did you know... ... that the founder of Banks Beer, Peter D'Aguiar, was also a prominent Guyanese politician?

... that beer ice cream has been served at the Great American Beer Festival?

... that by winning the 2016–17 PBA Philippine Cup Finals, the San Miguel Beermen became the second team in Philippine Basketball Association history to keep permanent possession of the Jun Bernardino Trophy?

... that Frank Beermann conducted the first recording of Bruno Maderna's Requiem, and the German premiere of Péter Eötvös's opera Love and Other Demons at the Chemnitz Opera?

... a new category in the alcoholic beverage industry, referred to as "hard soda" or "flavored beer", was created due to the prosperity of Small Town Brewery's Not Your Father's Root Beer brand?

... that Beerbohm, a cat owned by the Gielgud Theatre, became famous for entering actors' dressing rooms, attacking props, and wandering across the stage during performances?

6 DYKs and 3 of them have nothing to do with the topic. Legacypac (talk) 09:38, 28 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
