New Vrindaban, West Virginia

Hey Nyttend, I reverted the New Vrindaban page back to New Vrindaban, West Virginia as you had previously placed it. Not sure why the person from Michigan reverted it back and claimed New Vrindaban was not a "standard" community. Since the town was founded by people of the Krishnah faith and the majority of people who live there are Krishnah doesn't change it's status of unincorporated town which is recognized by the State of West Virginia and is listed as a populated place by the USGS. Hi Nyttend. Regarding the many links to the Washington Township, Ohio (disambiguation) redirect, this is done per WP:INTDABLINK. This rule mostly applies to See also sections and hatnotes, but in this case, INTDABLINK does apply. The sentence

Over at the WP:DPL project, the aim is to fix every link to a disambiguation page. We have reports that tell us what articles link to disambiguation pages, and therefore need fixing. Washington Township, Montgomery County, Ohio, for example, comes up on our lists as needing fixing, thanks to this link to Washington Township, Ohio. That's clearly an intentional link to a disambig. Wow, sorry I didn't realize I undid your edits that many times. I usually just empty out Category:Unassessed National Register of Historic Places articles and don't really pay attention to their histories. I usually rate articles this short as stubs just because I can't really qualify them as "start" quality. I tend to be more harsh when rating articles than most, so I'm sorry. I really do consider articles this short (although much better than the two-sentence generic NRHP article) as still stubs.. although I would call them "good stubs" as has been done at WP:NRHP numerous times.

County templates for Iowa

I think you originally created the templates for the Iowa counties and therefore wanted your input. Another editor recently asked me about why his town was not in the template (currently it is red-linked) which caused me to investigate. I have seen that most but not all the links in the county templates are blue-linked. Also I found that there are many unincorporated communities and townships not included in the templates. I have found a good source the "State Library of Iowa" online that actually has all of the GNIS data categorized into MS excel data sheets. I plan on updating the templates with all of the townships and unincorporated communities even if they will be red linked. What do you think of this? What about adding historical "ghost" towns to the template? I am somewhat a editing newbie but have been very active. Check out the communities division of Project Iowa at WP:IA/C and related subpages, activated only in mid December. I would appreciate your feedback on the template ideas and the communities division pages. I will check back here for your answer.

Frankly, I don't think it's a good idea, because in general, navigation templates are meant to navigate between existing articles. As well, they can help to show which articles are missing for entities in a specific, limited group — for this reason, it can be helpful to add links for the townships. However, there's no set number of unincorporated communities or ghost towns in a county that could or should have articles, so it's really not helpful to include them as redlinks. Nevertheless, county templates throughout the country include redlinks for unincorporated communities, so it's not as if your addition of such links would go against the way that we use these templates. In conclusion — although adding townships is good, I don't think it's a good idea to add the communities, but I won't complain or revert or anything else if you do it. Understanding your reasons and weighing the request from the other editor I spoke of in the previous post, I think I will take a county by county approach as articles are or plan to be developed. The other editor claims he/she will be developing articles on all the unincorporated communities in his county Clayton County, Iowa and has started 2 already so I will update that county and see what develops.
On another thought – do articles about unincorporated communities get deleted for any reason? Also I have found 2 counties with a community having the same name Burr Oak, Iowa (Winneshiek county) has an article already and one Burr Oak (Mills county) does not. What is the procedure for correcting this when (and if) an article is made for the Burr Oak in Mills county? It is not a redirect just no provision made for 2 towns having the same name in the same state. See the table I made for unincorporated communities at Wikipedia:WikiProject Iowa/Communities/UnincALL CITIES.

They definitely get deleted for reasons such as copyvios, hoaxes, etc., but they don't get deleted for notability reasons if they can be shown really to exist. As far as names like you're talking about — there are several issues at hand. If there are multiple communities in the state with that name, but exactly one is incorporated, the city article is entitled "PLACENAME, Iowa", while the unincorporated community article is entitled "PLACENAME, COUNTYNAME, Iowa". See Northwood, Ohio and Northwood, Logan County, Ohio: I know it's a different state, but Ohio uses the same system, along with the other 48 states. If there are multiple cities or multiple unincorporated communities with the same name, "PLACENAME, Iowa" is a disambiguation page, and every community article is entitled "PLACENAME, COUNTYNAME, Iowa". See Petersburg, Iowa and the unincorporated communities linked thereon. One caveat — if there are multiple communities of the same name in the same state, but only one of them has an article, it's best to have the article at "PLACENAME, Iowa". We can always move it to "PLACENAME, COUNTYNAME, Iowa" if another article is created, but we really don't need to disambiguate in a case like Burr Oak unless you (or someone else) are just about to create an article on another one. A query regarding my request for speedy deletion

Thank you for your consideration of my request for speedy deletion. Your edit [1] gave the reason for declining as "It's a redirect, not a disambiguation page", which is of course true in a literal sense. However, the page name is Abdul Khaliq (disambiguation), a name which means the page can only be a disambiguation page or a redirect to one. There is no disambiguation page for this term, and none is reqired, so the redirect has nowhere to point. It is thus surplus to requirements and I believe has an uncontroversial need to be deleted. I believed that the simplest and clearest way to do this was by use of the template {{db-disambig}}, its name alone making it implicitly a disambiguation page. Clearly you disagree with my reasoning at some point.

I realise that administration backlogs can be large and that administrators do not wish to spend large amounts of time investigating and correcting the procedural errors of others. I regard it as perfectly reasonable that you declined my request on what you seem to have regarded as a prima facie procedural error. However in order to avoid wasting both administrators' and my own time in future, I wonder if you could take the time to consider whether it is reasonable to request the speedy deletion of this page based on the reasoning I outlined above, and if so, could you indicate what the best and most reasonable way to communicate this to administrators would be in the future.

Hartford City Courthouse Square Historic District

Hello Nyttend. The old picture of the Hartford City Courthouse Square (with the horses etc.) came from my 78-year-old father, who grew up in that town. • Nyttend, the courthouse square picture came from dad, who got it from the Blackford County Historical Society. According to the president of the BCHS, the picture was one of a set of about 200 pictures donated to the Society by the family of an amateur photographer. The photographer's name is Frank Kleefisch. There is a Frank Kleefisch from Hartford City that died in 1962 -- probably the same guy. I could probably get permission via e-mail from the BCHS, if necessary, to use the picture and put it in the public domain -- what would the procedure be? The addition of a notable band is NOT covered in WP:USCITY, it is in a gray area, there is clearly NOT a rule that says that notable bands from a particular town cannot be under the notable persons section. Chiding only came about due to repeated deletions of this and other additions to the article where actions other that deletion were appropriate (i.e. adding a "citation?" tag, etc.). If you were a little softer with the delete key, I'd be a little softer with the English.

Constructive points are always welcome, and I respect those who enforce the rules. However, your deletions are more destructive than constructive, and fail to allow for reasonable interpretations. Please allow the group to make a decision before you delete again. I'd assume that it would be preferable to err on the side of content while waiting for a ruling, instead of erring on the side of deletion, especially when the data is clearly pertinent and nondestructive. 71.74.87.123 (talk) 04:31, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I think it could be a GA with relatively little work. It's rather complete, although, as usual, I'd like to see a little more discussion of interiors, particularly of the church (which I agree is quite grand). If you can work in the interiors, I'd rate it B-class right away. It's well-illustrated, and I can try to do some perspective correction to fix the falling-over-backwards look. Help Untangle Provo Utah, Ogden Utah and Salt Lake Utah Metropolitan pages

As a resident of Utah I found the original SLC-Ogden Metropolitan and Micropolitan map you uploaded confusing. We have 3 metros in Utah that we consider coherent that always go together Ogden-Clearfield, Salt Lake and Provo-Orem. I made a new map and uploaded it to modify yours, I also changed the color key. Anyway, I'm new and I think I made things more complicated than needs be. So please check it out and see if you can erase your older version of the map so that my new one can replace it. Thanks for your message. I think it is a valid criterion for speedy deletion, since the name of the category does not make logical sense (the articles for Big Ten Conference and Ivy League are quite clear that the terms are defined as sports leagues). And while I understand that the terms are colloquially used to refer to the schools collectively, doing so in the case of graduate schools does not make any sense or have any significance or notability. Tell me why Chua_Linh-Son_Buddhist_Temple "Doesn't really qualify" but St._Andrew's_Episcopal_Church_(Amarillo) does? St. Andrews has a more historic past, since 1891, and has one of the largest organs made by one of the most famous organ makers in the world. While the Buddhist Temple has only been around since 1998? Suggestions on new entry

Hi Nyttend, I noticed your comment on the Cleveland Street Workhouse entry this morning: you were in favour of keeping the entry while someone else wanted it cancelled. I have a large amount of material I am planning to quickly add to it. It'll be concise but complete and I have plenty of references including many high profile newspaper articles. The issue this page had previously was notability but a lot has been written about it, especially recently, so I am convinced an article is well worth writing.

I am a beginner with Wikipedia, moving the first baby steps in what I feel is difficult ground, so any advice you feel like giving me, would be really welcome.

Hi Nyttend, thank you so much for the super speedy reply! I am still writing that entry and I was wondering how long you think I have before someone flags it up since that same entry was previously deleted: I have never managed to read it but I assume the entry was not done properly (no references, unbiased point of view, relevant information, etc...) and I have the impression those pages are going through a harder scrutiny.

Everything that I have put up yesterday is factual and referentiable but I feel it is only partial at this stage. I wonder how long it is fair to leave the entry in a not-yet-optimal stage and what potential complaints from experienced moderators like yourself could be, so that I can work on them. Let me know if you have a minute!

Waverly Township, Pennsylvania

I am refuting your assertion that the Waverly, Pennsylvania article should be different from that of Waverly Township, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania.

Classifying Waverly as an "unincorporated community" is a misnomer, as it was previously an incorporated borough. However, the article as it currently stands is incorrect, as the entirety of Abington Township (now called Waverly Township) was formed from the borough, signifying that the bounds of the community and the township are the same, and that they should not be separated. Note that I corrected this error in the township article when I merged the two articles.

You failed to address any of my points in discussion, and instead referred to "standard practice." Out of curiosity, would it be "standard practice" to create an article for an alleged "unincorporated community" that encompassed 90% of a municipality (as an example)? In addition, is there any link that explicitly backs up that creating separate articles is "standard practice"?

I noted your link to the "unincorporated communities" links for Pennsylvania. However, I do not see any other cases where a borough that disincorporated and formed a township has a "unincorporated community" article, and would suggest that Waverly is actually the exception rather than the norm here. I have identified 8 other cases per my review of census report footnotes, as this appeared to be a very rare phenomenon, but none having "unincorporated community" articles:

Three others in Lackawanna County:

1. Elmhurst, Borough of --> Elmhurst, Township of
2. Glenburn, Borough of --> Glenburn, Township of (although there is a separate CDP article)
3. La Plume, Borough of --> La Plume, Township of

Two in Greene County:

1. New Freeport, Borough of --> Freeport, Township of
2. Graysville, Borough of --> Gray, Township of

And three in Tioga County:

1. Covington, Borough of --> Putnam, Township of
2. Osceola, Borough of --> Osceola, Township of
3. Nelson, Borough of --> Nelson, Township of

I would also note that my position is somewhat based in how a "borough" was defined in the 1800s, when Waverly Borough was formed ([6] - see lefthand column).

Certainly, if your position is that densely populated areas should have separate articles, then certainly most of the above cases are worthy of articles. I would also mention that this nationwide policy may need to be re-looked at, as the rules lead to nonsensical results in the context of how Pennsylvania is structured (although I could see how this approach would be useful in most of the United States, especially in PLSS areas where townships may or may not have more of a sense of community). I don't see how any of the examples you cited are relevant or analogous to this case. All three of the examples you cite are for municipal mergers or consolidations. While certainly West Fairview Borough was disincorporated, it did not form a new township with the same bounds; rather, it dissolved and became part of a larger township, and still forms its own village as a part of the larger whole. You're missing my point as well. The point I'm trying to make is that a borough should be defined as one community. If a township has the same boundaries as a former incorporated borough, then it logically follows that it should be defined as one community, which would lead to having two articles concerning Waverly being nonsensical. This image fails Wikipedia:NFCC#Policy_2 point 1 — No free equivalent. Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose. because, as noted on the deletion request the only purpose here is to show the company logo, which is already being done by the free image File:Trucchi's Supermarket, West Bridgewater MA.jpg from Commons.

Now how does this image still meet NFCC 1?

That's nonsense, Nyttend. Requiring an appositive on a U.S. neighborhood is no more a convention than "Apple, Fruit". The name of the neighborhood is, simply, the name of the neighborhood. While individual WikiProject may have developed their own conventions, in the absence of anything, Wikipedia's standard rules for disambiguation apply. Absence of a convention is not an excuse to invent one's own rules. Question about general process re possible copyvio and images

I see that you deleted the series of Brass Ring images.

I noticed they had what appeared to be valid licenses, although obviously, anyone can add a license, even if they copy an image. I also wondered if the creator of the image also provided them to MIT. I checked to see who added the tags (User:GrapedApe), and saw that notice had not been given to the uploaders.

My thinking was that the tagger should notify the uploader, then see if the uploader had an explanation that would be satisfactory.

Another approach is to delete the images, then allow them to be uploaded again if permission issues can be sorted out. While I can understand taking a hard line and deleting anything that looks like a copyvio, I can also see the value in waiting a few hours to see if there is a satisfactory explanation.

You have tons more experience in image work than I have, so I'm looking at this as a learning experience. Can you share some thought son how this issue should be handled in general?--SPhilbrickT 16:32, 27 January 2011 (UTC)

Going forward

As you know, a recent project of mine has involved applying the "convert" template to census area figures for counties, so that it is always presented consistently. However, due to the fact that the existing data in the articles is rounded to no decimal places, there are times when this is problematic (when the article states that the water area is 0 miles and 1 square kilometer, for example). The real problem is the data, and whether the convert template is applied or not, it's just not correct. The ultimate solution is to fix the data in those articles; and rather than go through and update the articles based on the 2000 gazetteer data, it probably makes sense to wait until the 2010 figures are available. I have the means of doing such updates through AWB, but it may be that a bot will be set up for the purpose, and it would be nice if a good, new format for the data could be worked out before that happens; I don't know if plans are already afoot for that or not, or who would be managing the process.

I wanted to try to get to the core of this issue, but I also want to state that I fully recognize that your goal is to improve the encyclopedia, and I know you are extremely active here. My goal is the same. We each have our strengths, but we clash every so often and sometimes we both allow it to escalate a bit. I'd really prefer to avoid that going forward, if we can, and work together and to be able to communicate when our paths cross. Hi Nyttend. I'm puzzled by your edit summary (How do you propose to replace a picture of someone who's been dead for over thirty years?), in relation to your removal of a fair-use disputed tag from File:Barbara Stanwyck.jpg.

Commons has 35 free images of Stanwyck; some are of reasonable quality and some are not. The unfree image is from a film Golden Boy which is mentioned in her article only in passing, and the naming of the film is even incidental as the point of the sentence was that it was while making this film that she met her husband. I don't see any reason for keeping this image. Would you take another look at it please, or at least explain to me how you arrived at that decision, so that I can understand. Template:Lycoming County, Pennsylvania

The template according to your version and Watkinsian is incorrect. There are many more communities in Lycoming County that what is included on this list. What is your reasoning for including the four or so that you have and excluding the others? I favor eliminating all the communities that are not incorporated places or CDPs. The new 2010 Census results are trickling out and there are several new CDPs in Lycoming County, including Faxon (which used to be a CDP until 1990). So far I can only find the new CDPs on maps - see here. The others (besides Faxon and Garden View) are Oval, Kenmar, and a bit of Rauchtown. I know the standard is that all populated places are notable, but I think including red links in a nav box defeats the purpose of a nav box. Ruhrfisch _><>°^° 02:50, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

I don't like replying on my own talk page, but no point in replying to both of you separately :-) The point of a navigational template is to allow one to go from article to article, not to list every community in a county; for that reason, I don't like having redlinks on a template unless I'm in the middle of writing articles about them. Throughout the Commonwealth (as in all other US states), we include unincorporated communities; there's no reason to remove Cedar Run from the Lycoming County template but to leave communities such as Fombell on the Beaver County template. As far as Watkinsian — the whole point of a template is to reflect information on templates, and verifiability for such templates depends on the articles. Watkinsian continues to add information that's not in sources (and in some cases, goes against the sources on the articles); if s/he found sources and wrote articles, I wouldn't complain, but without any sources the changes are bigtime problematic. Ruhrfisch, I'm really busy this coming week; could you please put together some stubs (even if they're as short as Orchard Island, Ohio) on the new CDPs that you've found? That is, doubtful and non-harmful unreferenced sources should be first tagged with {{fact}} and then after a period of time, they can be deleted. Central Time is correct for Kearney, Nebraska. In southern Nebraska, the dividing line cuts off the westernmost counties; so Dundy, Chase, and Perkins counties are on Mountain Time, and everything to the east is on Central Time.

List of Rural banks in Ghana

Thanks for your DYK comments. And yes, there were many gaps in the Christology articles - there was no Christology template as of a month or two ago, etc. I was surprised too. The only one that remains to be cleaned up is Threefold office and I will do that in a week or two, then we should be in somewhat stable and well referenced form in Christology. But still huge, huge gaps exist on theological and factual issues within many articles relating to the Bible, life of Jesus, etc. But one page at a time I guess. Cheers. Hi-A few days ago I revert an anon editor who removed coordinates for the town of Lucas, Wisconsin claiming it was just forest. I thought last year you told me that Miss Kansas winners are considered not notable enough to list in city articles. If that is true, then why do I find numerous non-notable people with articles? Will work on that. Unfortunately, in the last hour or so I've found a new problem to deal with. Back in December and January, Commons:User:AnRo0002 decided to start recategorizing Commons:Category:Bridges in Nebraska; then he apparently got bored with that, and is now recategorizing German paintings. I am, frankly, somewhat miffed—and I apologize for venting at you, but my German is much too weak to unload on the real culprit. Anyhow: will be working on straightening out that mess, and in the course of so doing will include Category:Built in Nebraska in (year). If you run into any Nebraska bridges in the course of your efforts, you might leave them for me, since I'll have to go through the entire category bridge by bridge anyhow. Once I'm done with the bridges, I'll try to help out with the Nebraska buildings.

That "citation" is not a reliable source in Benjamin Piatt Runkle. Arlington.net is an unofficial website not associated with the authorities that actually run Arlington National Cemetery -- see their home page. I have written them with the facts...which are rather well represented in what they write in the paragraphs below but their title of that page does not agree with what they wrote. They conflict themselves. In their text, they never ascribe him into being a Major General of the U.S. Army only of US Volunteers (and that was a brevetted, i.e. an honorary, title for that). I have left it pending that they may change it...if not, I will be removing it altogether. Take a look at what they wrote and compare it to the title...looks like a webmaster's mistake.

Hi... Thanks for the links and comments to Clarkson, Ohio - much appreciated. Largely on the basis of your comment, I have written (almost) an article on Gaston's Mill-Lock No. 36, Sandy and Beaver Canal District

I ask you, because you have done quite a lot of work in this area.

1. The name - certainly unwieldy. Is it appropriate to have the article title as simply, Gaston's Mill? That's not how it is in the NRHP, but common usage is for Gaston's Mill. I suspect most will search for Gaston's Mill. What is your take on that?

2. Why is this place in the NRHP? I can find nothing online that speaks to the reasons why this place was included. MANY sources that say that it is, but I want to find something that says, "Gaston's Mill was added to the NRHP because..... ". Should I be looking for that at all? Is there a resource that you could suggest to help there? The NPS site is sadly lacking.

I appreciate any help you can give as I attempt this article. I'd also appreciate any help or guidance on the article itself (still in VERY early stages!): Gaston's Mill-Lock 36, Sandy and Beaver Canal District

2010 Census data for Iowa

You reverted 100's of edits from many different editors in their attempts to update the various counties in Iowa with the new 2010 census data. You cited many different reasons, many were valid in my opionion. I was personally frustrated trying to use the US Census Factfinder website, therefore I waited for a more easy to use source was available. I came across a reference source from the state of Iowa at Iowa Data Center that has all the census data from 1850-2010 in a PDF or XLS format. It is easy to use and concise and I want to use as a one stop reference source for all the TOTAL Populations (not demographic breakdowns) in the info box, population tables and lede paragraphs. Before I start doing the 99 counties of Iowa I want your acknowledgement of the legitimacy of the reference (since it is a state of Iowa source and not the US Census Bureau). I do not want my edits reverted after changing the data in 3 article locations in the 99 counties in Iowa, as you have previously done to other editors.
I prefer not having fractured conversations, I will watch your talk page for the duration of this discussion. Please respond here.

I took me a large number of tries to get this Census counts for the counties. Originally I thought it was only for Kansas, but later after pasting it in another browser, I noticed that it is for all counties in USA, and you have to click on a pull-down to choose the state. I've already been updating some of the counties in Kansas using this link as a reference. I may have to go back later and paste in a better URL.

I looked at the link that Sbemeirow provided and while it does have the county census data for the year 2010 it does not have the data for 1850–2000. I again ask you Nyttend about using the "one stop reference" (Iowa Data Center) that I sited above (please check it out). Previously you have reverted edits even when an editor used a valid US Census source as a reference, because when they added 2010 census data they replaced the previously stated reference for the years 2000 and earlier (granted the new reference only covered 2010 and not the previous years). In fact – have you even looked at the references that have been stated in the Historical population tables? I just went and looked at your last 5 reverted Iowa county edits (March 4) Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Dallas County, Iowa, Warren County, Iowa, Johnson County, Iowa, Black Hawk County, Iowa, and all 5 have referencing problems previous to the 2010 census, none of the 5 cover the years with 100% referencing. Please look at what is provided as a reference in these 5 counties and comment here. Also if you are not going to accept the source I prefer to use, please do the research and provide me with a proper reference (or set of references). I am willing to add to Wikipedia the correct information with the correct references for Iowa's 99 counties instead of just seeing this continuation of reverted edits (I patrol all of Iowa communities) to various other editors just trying to update their own area of interest. And after the counties there is the 900+ cities in Iowa with similar reference problems to the Population tables, so please provide me with the same request for a reference or set of references for those cities (the state of Iowa source I want to use has these covered). My Wikipedia philosophy is to improve and/or correct flawed edits instead of just reverting them. Thanks in advance for your time.

Kindly assume good faith: there's actually a different reason that I didn't respond to you. I've not checked the references in most of the previous versions of the articles: fixing problems that are already present is distinct from removing newly-added problems, and I often can't concentrate enough time to be able to research which articles already have proper sourcing. Per your rather pointy comment: it's best to repair bad edits when possible, but reverting is better than nothing, and I saw no indication that repairs were forthcoming. We are here to produce a proper encyclopedia with valid sourcing, and because the addition of information that's not in a source is either very shoddy work or outright deceit, it never has a place in any serious writing. Now to your question — I'd suggest that you use both citations. It's impossible for any source to be superior to Sbmeirow's for the present census, but I don't dispute your position that the Iowa Data Center information is the best available resource for past years. Okay – It is more work to use 2 resources when 1 covers both but I agree the US Census Bureau is the most reputable source. I updated Adair County, Iowa in three areas, lede sentence, info box, and Demographics section. Please take a look and give me your feedback. I especially am interested in your opinion of my use of using the footnotes feature in the infobox as the template does not seem to allow for a reference to be included with the population statistic. if you are okay with this Adair example I will work on the next 98 counties using the same format and replacing any previous edits that used other sources like newspapers and such as their web pages may become unavailable in the future.

In response to my wording in the lede sentence, I was trying to find a copy and paste wording option that all I had to change was the numbers. But this is a work in progress and I am open to suggestions as long as the work is not complicated (like having to calculate pop differences, besides 99 counties there is 900+ cities to do). I am inclined to think that the change from 2000 to 2010 is important (shows growth or decline). Do you have a copy and paste option in mind? I am confused when you ask about the "reference section for the demographics box" as I was talking about the {{Infobox U.S. County}} not allowing me to add a reference next to the population statistic. The footnote box on the bottom (of the infobox) does not show up unless activated by adding information to the parameter. I thought about not putting a reference for the infobox population statistic because it is referenced in the main article but I do not want my edits to be deleted because they are not sourced. Also I am a believer in sourcing all facts. As to my usage of "lede" vs lead it is just more international.

Just an update – After I did my initial editing on Adair County, Iowa Nyttend came behind and added his improvements, taking in my desire for a copy and paste system (I assume). I liked what he did so after a small tweak I started in on the counties and got through the "A's" before I realized that the population densities would be changing also. Therefore I had to go back and adjust all my previous edits. If you go to Benton County, Iowa you can see the total changes I am making with one edit. besides adding info and calculating the pop density I am moving the 2000 pyramid so it is in the 2000 subsection.

I too thought the article Ety Habitation Site may be deserving of a Start class rating. Just to be clear on the history, you created the original article but neglected to create the talk page. Another editor created the talk page with a Stub classification. You then removed that editors Stub class rating on this article and replaced it with an unrated classification, he/she reinstated the Stub Classification and you again changed the classification to unrated. In my opinion the article at least deserved a Stub rating, that is why I undid your edit and returned the classification to Stub. You then deleted my edit and returned the classification to unrated (your third time). I now see you changed your mind and upgraded the classification to Start, which probably was what it should of been rated at from the beginning. In the interest of full discloser I did not look at the History in depth when I first undid your edit, it was only after starting this post that I looked closely and then discovered it was an article you had created. I therefore wonder why you had not upgraded the original Stub classification to Start right from the beginning?

that the renaming of the page to Edgemont, New York, was approved because Greenville is a purely statistical name for the area and a neighborhood taking up half of the area of Edgemont [which is defined by the areas served by the Greenville Fire Department and the Edgemont Union Free School District]. Renaming the page for Edgemont which has the neighborhoods Greenville, Seely Place, Old Edgemont, the Cotswolds and more to simply Greenville will confuse almost all. Possible DYK: McCook Daily Gazette

Just launched an article on the McCook Daily Gazette in southeastern Nebraska.

There's an aspect of the paper's history that might make DYK fodder. For about ten months in 1929-30, the Gazette managed same-day delivery in outlying towns by dropping bundles of newspapers from an airplane to local carriers on the ground. This was apparently the first regular delivery of newspapers by air.

If you've got the time and inclination, could you look at the article and give me your opinion? I'm somewhat loath to DYK my own article.

Re filemove G6 declines

The fact that an image (say this one) has had a bad name for five years is irrelevant, it's still a bad name. DSC###### style names are the names generated by digital cameras, they are not descriptive, make searching for useful things very difficult, and quite bluntly, they all need to be renamed and have their titles salted. Naming conventions for archeo sites

Would you happen to know the naming conventions for archaeological sites? There has been an argument going on here Old Town (Franklin, Tennessee) for close to a year about how to structure this article, since it is actually 3 separate NHRP sites situated very close to each other. One editor wants to lump them all together under the one name, which has to include the qualifier of the nearest town in parentheses to distinguish it from the other places named Old town(26 others in the US alone). The second editor wants to split them all up under their own articles. After watching them occasionally argue for the last 6 or 8 months? year? I've recently suggested it be moved to Old Town Archeological Site, its official name which is currently a redirect. Since locally it is known as "Old Town", editor number one wants to keep it as is per WP:COMMONNAME. Is there any kind of policy or guideline or consensus on this matter that you know of? Removal of photo at Jean-Bertrand Aristide

I have to ask if this deletion was done by an administrator who was overseeing the evaluation of the image. There was a process ongoing which requested that I complete a template and give detailed information about the image, and I was given a deadline of March 29 (I believe). The first was an administrator questioning the photo, the second was my appeal, the third box was the administrator's reply, providing a template for me to fill out asking for more information about the image, and giving me a deadline of March 29th (I think). The fourth box was my original designation of the photo as a promotional photograph (a press kit/official photo of then-President Aristide. As myself and FPAS have said, there is everything wrong with the rationale. It is essential that a rationale expands on how an image is irreplaceable, what it is showing, and why that needs to be shown. The rationale asserts that "It illustrates a significant aspect of the subject, namely, his true self." Presumably, this means that the image is intended to show a portrait of the person. Well, in that case, it clearly fails NFCC#1, as not only is it replaceable with free media, but it is already replaced by free media. If we give it the benefit of the doubt, and assume it is here to illustrate the book cover (in which case it would clearly be irreplaceable) then the question arises as to what that actually adds to the article, and the rationale certainly doesn't explain that. This was my original objection- it doesn't say, and, looking at the article, it seems pretty clear it doesn't add anything. If this isn't one of "the most obvious cases" of something that should be deleted under CSD#F7, I don't know what is. "Invalid fair-use claims tagged with {{subst:dfu}} may be deleted seven days after they are tagged, if a full and valid fair-use use rationale is not added." As I have explained, this is clearly invalid (all you have done in its defence is assert the opposite...) and a "full and valid" rationale has not been added. Personal income not part of economy?

Back in the old days, the bots dropped personal income into "demographics" for want of a better place to put it. The census bureau had collected it. Why not? Then we started moving this into "Economy" since it formed, in most places, a major part of the economic life of the community. USER:Wiki.Tango.Foxtrot, reviewing San Diego for GA, didn't like that and suggested it be moved, which the editors did. I did not think it wise to confront him on the article discussion page, unwilling to mess up other editors attempts at GA. But I did question him on his talk page and did not get an answer. Can you help or suggest help? My problem is that once these sections start showing up in FA articles, it becomes a stylist method of doing things and is hard to change. We've been doing this for several years now. It makes sense IMO. As a demographic, it seems lost and irrelevant. Student7 (talk) 13:33, 28 March 2011 (UTC)

No deletion?

I'm curious as to the inconsistency regarding the Talk:Indian caste system/archivex redirects. Lifebaka seemed to think №1 and №2 were eligible and deleted them as such, you did not think №3 was. Ironically №3 was the one redirect that I thought would go through without a hitch since it was the only one that didn't have anything linking to it whatsoever. Am I missing something here? OK. Does Wikipedia explicitly leave them around? I get the impression from your reply that they might be eligible for regular deletion. I'm surprised really, from prior visits here I had the impression that deletions like this were commonplace. –Xoid 17:01, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Heritage Brewing

"If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding "hang on" to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag;" What is the point of the hang on tag is you delete the page before anyone gets to comment.

The [:Heritage Brewing]] page you deleted can not be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person because the company no longer exists. The article was written to start documenting the history of a local company that existed in a community that was at the forefront of the resurgence of people paying attention to local food and breweries and at the same time rejecting the control and influence of big corporations and other large centralized organization who spout the old ways. This article is no more an article about a company, corporation, organization, or group, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject than any article in categories Category:Canadian brewing companies, Category:Beer and breweries in Canada, etc. Quit freaking out and pissing off editors by proposing everything be deleted. As I do not have access to previous deleted versions of this article, if you could take a look at it and see if it represents a substantial re-creation of that version that would be great.
