Greetings! My name is Harry Mitchell, my username is HJ Mitchell and most people call me Harry or HJ for brevity (I really hate being addressed by my surname!).

Sooo... what do I do here? Well, I write articles (you can click the little icons in the top right to see some of those I'm proudest of), I do a little reviewing and copy-editing of other people's articles, and I help out in some of the behind-the-scenes areas. I'm an administrator, an OTRS agent, and a coordinator of the Military History Project. I like to think of myself as 'keeping the wheels turning' when I'm acting in those capacities—none of them grant me any sort of authority over other editors, and I hold those positions only for as long as the community trusts me to. Oh, and I do outreach work and organise/run events for Wikimedia UK, who pay my train fare so that I can go and teach (and hopefully inspire) people to edit. So, as you can see, I do many things (sometimes rotating from one to another as I get bored), but it's all good fun!

I've been here since March 2009. I started because I was enticed by the idea that I could edit, and I stick around because I want to help make the encyclopaedia, and the project, even better than it already is, and because Wikipedians are some of the most remarkable people I've ever come across. But during my tenure, I've been around the block a few times, so feel free to ask for help—if I can't help you, there's a good chance I'll know somebody who can.

I don't always agree with every single thing you say, but I wanted to register my appreciation of the degree of hard work you do and the ethical nature of the (voluntary) work you do in helping administer this project in such a conscientious way. Please keep up the good work, and take this as a well-earned tip of the hat to you. John (talk) 02:40, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
