U.S. Route 101

edit

@Gog the Mild: If possible, could U.S. Route 101 be removed from the queue for August? I was hoping to have it run on November 11, 2026, its 100th anniversary. SounderBruce 04:37, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

SounderBruce, sure, although note that there is already an article at TFAP indicating that it will be nominated for 11 November and which so indicated more than six months ago. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:32, 29 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
SounderBruce, done. Gog the Mild (talk) 20:48, 30 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Death of Ms Dhu

edit

@TFA coordinators It will be the 10-year-anniversary on 4 August, and it last ran on 4 August 2019. Could space be made this year? I know this is quite last minute, but I just noticed it. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 13:55, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

I am unenthusiastic about rerunning a relatively low-profile article at the earliest date which it could be rerun. Even leaving aside that this would mean bumping an article whose editor was told a month ago that they had a TFA. What do my fellow coordinators think? Gog the Mild (talk) 14:04, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Your month, your call. Though I tend to agree with you. A tenth anniversary is not too different from an 11th. Wehwalt (talk) 14:08, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
No worries, I'll put it on WP:TFAP for next year. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 14:10, 25 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

1 August Homeric Hymns

edit
  • Hi Gog and UC - "George Chapman made the first English translation of them in 1642." I noticed that George Chapman died in 1634. I can't see in his article the year of his translation.
In Homeric Hymns the ibox has 1642 as does para 4 of lede, but in section 'Early modern period onwards', we have 1624.
Is 1642 x3 (article ibox, lede and blurb) a typo that should be changed to 1624? JennyOz (talk) 12:03, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oops -- definitely 1624 (checked the source to be sure). Fat fingers on my part, I think -- changed all three. Excellent spot. UndercoverClassicist T·C 12:36, 27 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

2 August Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha

edit
It is not hard and fast, but in this case it seems unnecessary, so I have delinked the second. Gog the Mild (talk) 12:30, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

4 August Aston Martin Rapide

edit

A few questions here sorry Gog ...

Please don't apologise Jenny, I am more than happy that you are keeping me on my toes. Gog the Mild (talk) 13:02, 30 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Aston Martin Rapide is rather close timing to the previous Aston Martin DB9 which just appeared on 27 July? (I'd be surprised if this wasn't mentioned at Errors.)
Sometimes it happens. I have previously run snooker articles on consecutive days. It is absolutely not an error; and while I can't control what is said there I won't be watching it - as usual.
Well, not to me, but as it seems to be to you, I must be wrong.   Tweaked.
  • "with the introduction of the Rapide S (pictured) in 2014 and" - but the article has "The "Rapide S" succeeded the Rapide in 2013"
Good spot. I assume that's a typo.
  • "[[gaydon|Gaydon, Warwickshire]]" - should have a cap G on target
Er, it does.
  • "received a funding from the British government" - might be just Engvar but is "a" intended here?
Nope. Excised.

16 August Snooker

edit

Looks like the article has degraded a ittle since passing as an FAC. Rodney Baggins and Lee Vilenski, I haven't seen anything that can't be fixed by 16 August, but I've added a few tags. There are probably a few other statements in the article that could be updated. Might also be worth looking at WP:CLAIM for a couple of the instances of claimed/claiming (e.g. "other players such as Alex Higgins claiming to have made a similar break"). Is a better alternative available for some of the sources, e.g. Daily Expresss, ukgameshows.com, rulesofsnooker.com?. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 10:11, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for reminding me about this, Benny. I shall be taking a close look at the article over next few days. It's been on my To Do list for ages but 16th Aug is creeping up on us. Regards, Rodney Baggins (talk) 16:58, 2 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Does anyone know if there's a rule about the blurb image having to be the same as the article's main (infobox) image? Whilst I remember we discussed this at FAC and arrived at the conclusion that a long shot of a player actually playing the game would be best for the article, I wonder if a more striking image like this one would be better for the wiki main page? I know it's not the "set of snooker balls" article, but the colourful picture might draw people in more than the other one? Rodney Baggins (talk) 06:42, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The image can be whatever I believe. Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 07:54, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
The image needs to be somewhere in the article. Which includes it having been freshly inserted there. Gog the Mild (talk) 14:59, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I've changed it. Any objections? It's a free image, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license. Rodney Baggins (talk) 07:37, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
