I'd like to get the numbers and associated lines removed from this drawing, so that it just shows the unadorned design of the auger. Thanks. -- Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 11:01, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Christie I know this is a old archived post, but I created a retouched version of this file. If you're interested the file is File:Brooks ice auger patent drawings 1932-retouched.png. No reply needed and if you prefer the other image that is ok with me, just getting some practice in since I'm a little rusty. - Offnfopt(talk) 02:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Offnfopt: Much improved; I've switched to this version in ice core. Thank you! Mike Christie (talk - contribs - library) 09:47, 29 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please improve illustration. Background should be white (or transparent). Like most chess pieces (pawn, bishop, etc.) this piece is basically a solid of revolution, with "notches" cut out near the top. Shading (as if illuminated from one side) might also help. Please keep the overall graphic square shaped; any file format is OK (.svg or .png for example). Thanks-- OhioOakTree (talk) 15:31, 30 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would it be possible for someone to upload the following sketch of the former statue of George I of Britain (http://www.dublincity.ie/image/libraries/dg22-george-i?language=en), which once stood in the grounds of the Mansion House, Dublin? Or would there be a copyright issue? User:Snow Lion Fenian

Done: @Snow Lion Fenian: Given that this was first published in 1835 I'm pretty sure that it's public domain. I've uploaded it here: File:Equestrian Statue of George I Engraving.jpg. The statue seems to have been moved to Birmingham? Please fill in the image information with what you know. —♫CheChe♫ talk 10:18, 18 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@CheChe: Thanks, much appreciated. Yes, from what I'm aware, it has stood in Birmingham since 1937, though it originally stood on Essex Bridge in Dublin from 1722 to 1755 (and then the Mansion House from 1789 to 1922). Speaking of which, any chance you could also upload the following sketch of the statue in its original Essex Bridge location, perhaps minus the surrounding borders? Hi, can any illustrator draw a same size vector version of all these railway stations symbol (using the shape from the stations of Kawang, Kimanis, Kinarut, Papar and Putatan) with the white square background been replaced with a transparent background? The same goes to the (three stations which there is no images I can provide here). (ahh! I just realise they need to match the words length with the symbol, that is why some track symbol are much long in its size. Apologies for the mistake.) All these are licensed under the {{PD-textlogo}} and can be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons. Thank you. -- Night Lantern (talk) 06:52, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

SSR station symbol example.
Hi Mr. Maproom, thanks for pointing that out. In a short explanation.. I mean the sign should just be like in this picture above (albeit with a transparent background and if the station name is long, they can widening the track symbol length). This applies to all the 15 stations according to their respective names. Night Lantern (talk) 05:18, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That looks great! Thanks Mr. Auguel. :-) Night Lantern (talk) 11:58, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much! Night Lantern (talk) 04:18, 26 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)
I am not volunteering, but ... it is not obvious to me which features of these signs you want in the SVGs. In each photo, I see
  1. a logo, formed from a circle and two parallel lines
  2. a border around it
  3. the name of a station
  4. a border around it
  5. some dark grey background lines, most conspicuous in Bomgawan, Kimanis, and Papar, and differently arranged in each of these
  6. some paler variations, most conspicuous in Beaufort, Kimanis, and Papar, possibly caused by glare, and absent from most of the photos.
Maproom (talk) 21:30, 24 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request taken by Auguel (talk) 07:50, 25 May 2017 (UTC). Did the first two. But I messed up the filenames so don't use them yet. I'll do more later.[reply]

Done and all the filenames are now correct. Auguel (talk) 19:41, 25 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Simple illustration for Gaussian Correlation Conjecture

  Resolved
 – Looks resolved to me. --AntiCompositeNumber (Leave a message) 13:52, 7 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I need an illustration similar to what appears here, for the article Gaussian Correlation Conjecture. Only the draw of the circle and the rectangel and the second 3-dimensional-like draw, without the text, please. נחי (talk) 11:44, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@נחי: Could you be more clear about the part you are interested in? If I understand correctly you want the image of the darts hitting the circle and rectangle, and you want the square with the Gaussians of the weight and heights on the side. Is that correct? Also in the future could you follow the standard request template, thanks. Auguel (talk) 03:53, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Auguel: You understand correctly. That's exacty what I'm interested in.
Thank you for pointing my attention to the template. I'm new here (in the english version of wikipedia). נחי (talk) 07:33, 4 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok this is what I have so far. Comments? Should I include the cluster of points on the plane? Should include the labels (e.g. "people with normal height", "people with normal weight", "people with normal height and weight") ? Auguel (talk) 00:07, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If you could add the cluster of points that would be great. The lables are not needed.
The first illustrations with the darts need not be exactly the same as the original version; The darts can be simpler, as long as the notions of darts remained clear. Nachi (talk) 09:19, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I want to caution you, in that I believe the combination of the 3D graphic of the Gaussian with a graphic of darts hitting a circle may be eligible for copyright. I thus advise you not to use both together on wikipedia, as quantamagazine may have a copyright claim on this combination.--Lommes (talk) 21:59, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sparkyscience: If i understand you correctly, you mean not superimposing them, but just putting one on top, and the other on the bottom, but in a single picture? This seems a strange idea to me. In what way does this an improve over just adding the two thumbs, as I have just done here (to the right)? I am genuinely at a loss....
