Laniakea Supercluster
Request
The current image at the top of the article, File:Laniakea.png, contains annotations in Spanish. I think this should be changed to English. Second, the colors chosen for the letters in the image make some of the annotations very hard to decipher (at least for me, the red letters are barely readable). This should be changed to something easier to read. -- Toshio Yamaguchi 12:25, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Do not change elements Dy, Cf (bottom rows, not that pink color). (Implementing RfC on Group 12 color change). -DePiep (talk) 10:17, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Graphist opinion(s)

Done DePiep I didn't want to waste any time on the existing image since it is a raster image, so I created a new vector image (see above). -Offnfopt(talk) 20:32, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sigh. svg is the word I wanted to evade. So now I should replace all images iw-wide? -DePiep (talk) 20:38, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Could you just replace the png? (I tried in GIMP, but could not manage a simple "change color x into color y for selection z"). -DePiep (talk) 20:40, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh and I experienced the name was changed too. Good to know. -DePiep (talk) 20:44, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You really know how to make someone feel appreciated. Took far more effort on my end to re-create the image as a vector (so it is easier to change the colors and edit) than it takes to change the image on small group of wiki pages. Offnfopt(talk) 21:14, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
If felt disappointment, and it may have shown. Quite simple: turning this into svg was not asked (when posting, I had already thought of adding "No need to start the svg talk").
The situation is: this is an update of the periodic table, which image is used throughout interwiki. Leaving the png unchanged makes those wikis with an outdated version. I cannot change those wikis, and a dozen on enwiki. Even the very existance of that outdated version is a sore. Also, changing the name adding "simple" is not helpful in the spread of periodic table variant namings.
I again request to change the colors in the png as asked, solving everything. -DePiep (talk) 08:38, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Request Denied - Any raster image that can be turned into a vector, should be a vector image. And now that a vector does exist you're still asking for the raster image to get changed because you don't want to change a small group of wiki pages (14 pages and 3 of those are user pages, that is a small number). Your reasons for wanting a raster image is flawed, I will not waste time editing that raster image since a vector exists. You've said you have GIMP, since you're having problems using the replace color function, you can instead cut out the portion from File:Periodic Table Chart with less active and active nonmetals.png and impose it on File:Periodic Table Chart.png to get your desired change. Offnfopt(talk) 09:37, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Weird that you advise me to use GIMP (a "do it yourself"), while that failing was the reason I came here in the first place.
The original request was straightforward, and is not fulfilled. Next time I will have to add the "don't go svg" note then. There is no wikilaw that says one must go into svg as an edit. I am not supposed or able to change other wikis, nor enwiki archives (expect me to check vietnamese?). If that png is that bad, it should be deleted (you are pushing me into), not left behind as another outdated attention-seeking version. Name change is ill-advised.
For now, we at WT:ELEMENTS are working at all places & times to keep interwiki synchronised (here, here).
An yes, sure, thanks, your svg is welcome and very useful in new situations, and hopefully can even be upgraded into being language-sensitive.
You could have done an and, and. -DePiep (talk) 17:38, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You've already put the SVG in place in the article, if there was something wrong with the SVG you wouldn't use it. But you still want to complain about having a SVG. A SVG can have translations embedded, so instead of having 200 different PNG images that are language specific, you can have a single SVG with all the information in one.
You say "we at WT:ELEMENTS are working at all places & times to keep interwiki synchronised" but you're complaining about just that, you don't want to keep other wikis synchronized. You say "expect me to check vietnamese?" Sure why not? You already made edits there before. I'm done with this idiotic discussion any additional replies will go unanswered by me, in my eyes this request is {{resolved}}. Offnfopt(talk) 20:07, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
By now you are getting quite arrogant in telling me what to do while you were the one who created the problems, as explained above (you did not respond to). You are forcing me into edits, and then telling me "Your reasons for wanting a raster image is flawed" -- while that actually is none of your business unless you get involved in the maintenance (cooperatively that is). -DePiep (talk) 20:51, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@DePiep: Please be considerate to your fellow editors - regardless of your request, editors here doing there most to fill orders to the best of there abilities. - Civility should always be first - (Thank You @Offnfopt: keep up the good work FOX 52 (talk) 21:28, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@FOX 52: Without consulting Offnfopt made unrequested changes and denied the original one. Sure I may show disappointment. Also I described the consequences. Then again they stubbornly refused to perform the requested edit I made for good reason. All in all Offnfopt is forcing edits upon me and even quite arrogantly telling me what to do to solve the problem they created. There is no rule that forces Offnfopt or anyone to change the file, its name, and force others to do cleanup edits. -DePiep (talk) 20:51, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request

Requesting cleaner versions of the flag and seal of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Both original files are very dated and are sloppy. Here are some additional resources for those up to the task; this is a more colored version of the seal with the American red, white and blue shield and colored sky, though this image shows the details and lines of the seal. As for the flag, here is an example of the color and format. Updating these files would be greatly appreciated!--WMrapids (talk) 08:01, 15 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s)
@WMrapids: Which of the examples would you prefer to be the main source for the conversion to a .svg file?
'A' this is a more colored version of the seal
'B' image shows the details and lines of the seal
'C' here is an example of the color and format
Due to the original date of the seal, I would pick the 'A' version since the font style is more appropriate for the 1850 date of the seals creation. In my opinion (imo) the 'B' versions font is too modern for the year 1850. IMO the two circles in the seal should be dotted like the 'A' version and not the 'C' version's rectangles.--Vwanweb (talk) 19:14, 7 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Vwanweb: I agree with the dotted borders. I prefer a little of 'A' and 'B'. From 'A', the original design, font and color and from 'B', the more distinguished light rays that you cannot see well in the metal portion of 'A'.
The finished seal should have the dotted borders, original font and blue-ish clouds with the hand emerging holding the black scale. Light rays in a similar color scheme to the sunset in the Seal of Michigan should be emerging from behind the naturally colored bald eagle carrying the arrows and tricolor shield. The Seal of Grand Rapids was designed in the same period of the Seal of Michigan, so the colors on this should be helpful.
Also, here is the history of the seal. You can see in the original that there may also be an olive branch held to the right of the arrows by the eagle, similar to other American imagery. I hope this helps you!--WMrapids (talk) 02:36, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Request taken by Vwanweb (talk) 12:59, 9 September 2017 (UTC). Thank you for the feedback on the items I brought forward. I will take a shot at this for you. I just want to ask for your patient up front, since the example graphic is pixel heavy.[reply]

Thank you and I understand. For the flag, I'm not sure if the colored seal should be used or not due to the existing flag (see 'C'). If there is a way to see the flag with both the colored seal and uncolored seal, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!--WMrapids (talk) 17:58, 9 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
