Speedy deletion nomination of List of rock songs edit

Hello Wisnu Aji,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged List of rock songs for deletion, because it's too short to identify the subject of the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 00:30, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the article's talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page.   Welcome to Wikipedia. Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles, or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion debates, as you did with List of rock songs. Otherwise, it may be difficult to create consensus. If you oppose the deletion of an article, please comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. clpo13(talk) 16:43, 8 November 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Piano rock, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Socratic.   Hello, I'm SummerPhDv2.0. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Jump (Van Halen song), but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.   Please refrain from changing genres, as you did to Listen to Your Heart (Roxette song), without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 05:39, 7 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Speedy deletion nomination of Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.themp3skull.com/artist/Michael+Jackson+and+Paul+McCartney. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ethanlu121 (talk) 17:11, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

You must not copy material into Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources. JohnCD (talk) 23:18, 4 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

I would respond at my page, but I am afraid that expressing my opinion may offend the user as a personal attack, because using the template you used for that user showed him that you had talked about him on my page. This will reduce the risk of him seeing this.

I am familiar with this user and think he doesn't always edit Wikipedia for the better (though I know he probably is trying). Every time I try to argue one of his edits, he just reverts me because apparently he thinks I am violating WP:OVERCAT. We have disagreeing viewpoints. I don't really want to bother arguing with him. If you would like to fix this, go on ahead. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 18:32, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry Danny, but this is about Category:[nationality] rock songs. Wisnu Aji (talk) 18:44, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
I know. But trying to deal with this would just turn into a conflict that I don't want to deal with. dannymusiceditor Speak up! 18:58, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
So, what should I do? Wisnu Aji (talk) 19:05, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Nothing at all. Songs categories associated with a nationality were first created with the "Category:[nationality] [music genre] songs" format. I simply respected this format and first used Category:British punk rock songs as an example (note that I did not create this category) to create similar categories. I then started removing unsupported categories as per WP:CATDEF, including Category:Rock ballads that you recently added in several articles without providing references to support them. Start Over edit

I have just patrolled your modification of Start Over from an article about the Beyoncé song to a disambiguation page. I have approved this, but you really need to chase down and correct the many links that are now incorrectly pointing to the disambiguation page. Otherwise someone is likely to take offence and simply revert your change to correct the problem. One way to avoid this in the future is to leave the ambiguous article name as is and create a new page (eg. Start Over (disambiguation)). This is the best solution when one usage of the article name is much more frequent than others, but use at your discretion with appropriate hatnotes.
