Speedy deletion nomination of Williamsburg independent film festival

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Williamsburg independent film festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/actress-leighton-meester-movie-headlines-brooklyn-film-fest-article-1.2016947. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CrowCaw 17:57, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The article has now been deleted. If the copyright holder wishes to donate the material to Wikipedia under license, please have them follow the instructions at WP:consent. -- Diannaa (talk) 21:59, 2 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Williamsburg independent film festival

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Williamsburg independent film festival, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://willfilm.org/Mission.aspx.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) A tag has been placed on Williamsburg independent film festival, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Williamsburg Independent Film festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Williamsburg independent film festival requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Email Received

edit

Good morning, I wanted to let you know that I received your email, but prefer to communicate via Wikipedia talk pages (As I am here) (You can leave me a message at User talk:chrislk02, just do not forget to sign your posts ! (see WP:SIGN). I will look into your request, and get back to you momentarily.Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 14:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

The most recent version of your article was deleted for multiple reasons. 1.) A majority or all of the content came from an external source verbatim Your article (in this case [1]). Wikipedia is not a repository for information from other sites, this violates both the law, and the goals/objectives of Wikipedia. 2.) The article was not written in a tone that makes it unencyclopedic, specifically, it was written as a promotion/advertising. I am willing to help you write an article on this topic, but before I do so, I need you to provide me several links to reliable sources that can be used as a foundation for the article (note, your organizations website does not count). If these cannot be provided, it is unlikely that an article on this subject will be appropriate here on wikipedia. Hope this helps. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 14:31, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Next step, create an article at the following location ( User:Willfilm123/draft). When you think it is ready, let me know, I will make sure it is up to par, and then move it to becoming a full item. Chrislk02 Chris Kreider 15:19, 21 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

New Submission of Willfilm123/Willfilm123/draft

edit

Hi Chrislk02,

I would like you to know that the submission of Willfilm123/Willfilm123/draft uploaded on 7/21/2015 is the one that should be considered and reviewd. I did use the Wizard last time, July 1. I interpreted the fact that I should cite notable sources in an academic manner. I have now rewritten the citations in my own words. There is no malice intended with this article, and no intention to infringe on copyrights. Also, there is no malicious intent directed at Wikipeadia. I did not understand that comment. Please let me know if the article appears that way.

Thank you, Greer Willfilm123 (talk) 15:16, 21 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization, person or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username.
