Hello, I'm ready to be re-reviewed. I added more reliable sources to the page. I'm curious how other talent agencies like "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICM_Partners" are able to have to have a page but I can not get this talent agency published?

Hi

Thanks for taking the time to review this again, we'll get there eventually!

I understand what you say regarding the Custom Step sentence being too suggestive as an advertisement and have removed this sentence with the latest edit.

However, I'm not entirely clear on what you mean regarding your "starting company of the year" comment. El Camino Bracelets are not seeking funding or support, however, it'd be great to start with a basic Wikipedia page now, upon which can be added over time. The most similar company to El Camino Bracelets appears to be Pura Vida (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pura_Vida_Bracelets). If my latest edit does not pass, please could you give me a couple of pointers as to why the proposed El Camino Bracelets Wikipedia page would differ from their Wikipedia page, I am far from an expert in this area, however, when I compared the two, the basic principles appear to be very similar.

Thanks for your time,

David

Hello

I am surprised that the article has been delined. This is a very specific aspect on postage stamps, namely their withdrawal. This is nowhere being mentioned or explained on the postage stamps wikipedia page. On the German Wikipedia, there is lots of specific stamp topics accepted beside a mainstream postage stamp article.

Hi again.

I am unable to find any "news" related information to support the article. I have however checked with governing bodies such as the Intellectual Property Office which is a government body https://www.ipo.gov.uk/tmcase/Results/1/UK00003135353 and Companies House https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/08638142 which are both verifiable government bodies. Does that help? I would have thought if the source was verifiable like a government agency (i.e. IRS, FBI etc), that would supersede news publications. Is that not correct?

I'm just not really sure what more notable reviews or write ups you are looking for. The Village Voice, Pazz and Jop, AllMusic, and Popmatters are some of the largest music publications in the business besides Rolling Stone and Spin. "We need all majorly published reviews" What does that mean? You need MORE of them, or you don't like the sources? Because the sources are very high profile and reliable sources- all of which were referenced in the references section.

Hello [SwisterTwister]]

Many Thanks for your comments on my draft article proposal on RL360°. I have updated the page and removed most of the content but I have to say I am very confused as to how my page was rejected even though my sources were from credible publications such as the FT, Bloomberg, Independent and the New York Times. What's more puzzling is that I based my article on other pages that are on Wikipedia. I can't understand how pages with very little content, citations and notability are approved, and the one I created was not. The company I am writing about has a long history in Life Assurance / Insurance and origins from the biggest players in the business who even note the company in their on wiki pages.

Can you please check my new draft and if you are still not happy can you provide more details about which sections are not sufficient? Really apprreciate your guideance. Karin Jam(talk) 09:57 8 March 2017

Thanks so much for the review of this article - I really appreciate the quick turnaround, and your comments make sense. I have made several edits to the article, largely by removing content that seemed overly editorialized or advertisement-like; does this come closer to the appropriate level of objectivity?

Please let me know if there are any specific pieces of feedback that might be helpful to consider.

Lastly, and in the interest of full disclosure, I want to alert you to the fact that I am an outside consultant working with MedSkl.com to support their outreach efforts, and am developing this Wikipedia page as a part of that work. If the page should be submitted, or otherwise verified, by a third-party validator instead of by me or by the MedSkl.com team, please let me know and I will take the appropriate measures.

And thanks again!

The biographical article is about a permanent civil servant in India, of a level equivalent to a Brigadier-General in the armed forces or Senior Executive Service in the US. Most of thee references are from The_Times_of_India, The_Hindu which are the largest and 2nd largest selling English newspapers in India which are independent of the person, and official sources available on the Internet. He is particularly notable for winning India's award for excellence in Public Administration which only 5-10 people from over 8 million civil servants get each year. Please reconsider.

Hello SwisterTwister - just wanted to clarify the reason for the submission being decline - the reason stated "What establishes notability is museum collections or major art reviews." makes sense for someone who is solely artist, my question is how does one prove notability as an art blogger/personality? I don't know how much more independent evidence of a person's notability you can have than the awards received, with citations and reference s to the awarding organization's websites, including the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and patents issued as independently verifiable on the USPTO website. Nevertheless, I've added further documentation with references to two published histories of the laser, from the National Academy Press and the Optical Society of America. If these are not independent evidence of notability, I must request a different reviewer.

This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability. Our article follows closely the set up for another Advertising notable - Lee Garfinkel, who's wiki entry has 13 references vs 18 for Gary.

Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable sources that are independent of the subject—see the guidelines on the notability of organizations and companies and the golden rule. The sources we have quoted are reliable and independent of Gary - they are The New York Times, AdWeek, The Wall Street Journal, among others. They fall in line with the references that Lee Garfinkel's entry uses, and are organizations of note, and the information they support is verifiable.

If there are questions about the content within the entry, please elaborate, and if you have any suggestions to make it more robust, I would love to hear them.

Thanks!

Hello SwisterTwister(?)

I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by: "I'm willing to accept".... and "but it specifically needs all additional significant independent sourcing; notability cannot be inherited from others."...

I've personally been through a couple of Fintech (& other (ie: Insurtech)) accelerators. These (& consulting companies (ie: PwC, KPMG, Accenture, Deloite Touche, etc.)) have referred to other such tech groups as retailTech, RegTech (Regulatory), PeerTech, and others.

My difficulty is in finding veritable references that specific expression... but it will emerge.

Please let me know if still "willing to accept" my explanation.

regards, Chris

Thank you for taking the time to review my article about Julian Treasure. It’s a shame that you feel the article is unacceptable, and I’d like to discover how I can address the issues that you’ve raised.

Notability

There is significant interest in Julian’s work (such as decreasing crime rates in cities). This is represented by features in the world’s press - publications such as TIME Magazine, The BBC, The Economist, The Guardian, CNN, The Daily Mail, Vogue and The New York Times. His work has even been written about in a dedicated article on the front page of The Wall Street Journal.

I cannot understand how the article has been rejected partly on the grounds that “Wikipedia requires significant coverage about the subject in reliable sources that are independent of the subject” given that these are some of the biggest publications in the world.

Julian is also a recognised public speaker and educator. He has trained thousands of people in-person all over the world about sound and communication, and an estimated 40 million people have watched his online videos. One of Julian’s TED talks is in the 10th most watched of all time, and he’s also one of only nine people who have five talks on TED.com - others are Bill Gates, Thomas Dolby and Hans Rosling.

Whilst I appreciate that success at TED alone may not warrant a Wikipedia page, it is a strong demonstration of the popularity of his teaching and the innovation of his ideas.

“PR advertising” It was not the intention that this article read as a PR piece. Perhaps this came about partly from the fact that Julian’s company is marketing based - it’s potentially hard to highlight the significant fact that a company has increased sales, however innovative the nature of the work, without sounding like a PR article.

Secondly, as this is my first attempt at writing a Wikipedia article, it was focussed solely on facts and figures and this may have led to a lack of narrative and relevance to the piece.

Most importantly, Julian’s mission that runs throughout all his work is to “make the world sound beautiful”, and I intend to focus on this in subsequent edits.

Suggestions

I hope that this message has explained how Julian and his work is notable. I therefore suggest the following:

- I will re-write the article with more focus on narrative and relevance (see above) to tie everything together. Should I create a separate article about The Sound Agency including clients, awards etc?

- Should I remove or keep information about Julian's publishing career? He founded a notable company and received multiple recognised awards during that period; this article for those who are interested to check him out, so his background is surely relevant?

- Should I remove or keep information about his music career? This is always of interest to people who want to know from Julian “how did you get into sound?”

- I will remove reference to him being an author in the main summary. I understand that he is not widely recognised for this, and will instead mention his book only briefly. (He is currently working on a new book to be published late in 2017 and aimed at a much wider consumer audience, so this will probably change in time.)

- I can include more on the training work and workshops that Julian has done at conferences and events internationally. A lot of these are notable.

- How do I ensure 'high quality' references to publications? What are the standards? Surely major media like The Times and the BBC are high quality? Are there specific references that are degrading the standard and should be removed?

- I can add more detail about his work... how it is innovative - techniques and technology, core ideas etc, if this is useful.

I look forward to receiving your feedback, along with anything else that you think will make the article acceptable.

Many thanks.

I believed that IMDB records are a significant enough independent listing, and the extensive list of professional publications that Mr. Glenn has sold to.

As a writer he's written and sold a number of novels. As a stunt choreographer he has an extensive list of file credits. I'm not sure I understand how these are not significant?

Request for reconsideration: The rejection of this article does not take account of the fact that this artist is already the subject of a Wikipedia page in Bulgarian: https://bg.wikipedia.org/Иван Вукадинов. This was not previously cited, but the English page under consideration is essentially mirroring the existing Bulgarian page. It is therefore inappropriate to dismiss the English page as not meeting the criteria for significance.

In response to the comments about the reliability and independence of the sources of this article, this article was sourced by no fewer than four independent Bulgarian and one Italian author, publishing in English, German, Italian and Bulgarian, all of which describe the artist in glowing terms. Moreover, he is the subject of not one but two individual artist biographical surveys by the National Gallery of Art in Sofia, the central authority on Bulgarian art. By dismissing these as reliable sources, the reviewer is essentially dismissing the entire country of Bulgaria as a reputable and independent assessor of artistic merit and applying a narrow, Anglo-American definition of source relevance to the Wikipedia selection procedure. The number of referenced sources has now been nearly doubled.

I should point out that the primary source that is cited is an extremely reputable book about the artist by the doyenne of art critics in Bulgaria, Distinguished Professor Aksinia Dzhurova, who is completely independent of the artist in question. This art authority is Director of the Bulgarian Center for Slavic and Byzantine Studies, a positon she has held for four decades since 1986, and has an international reputation as indicated by her visiting professorships at the universities of Yale (USA), Jerusalem (Israel), the Sorbonne (France) and the Institute for Eurasian Studies (Italy). She has also been honored as a Foreign Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU). She is the author of 25 books and hundreds of publications and on Medieval culture, Slavic and Byzantine art, Slavic codicology and Modern art. She is therefore unquestionably an established, reliable authority on the standing of Eastern European artists, and is completely independent of the artist (as am I).

A revised version of the page has been prepared, itemizing further activities and world recognition of this important artist.

Hello,

I'm writing this current Wikipedia article as there is a lack of knowledge regarding the AMAR foundation. I understand that Wikipedia has strict guidelines regarding writing, however, I was wondering if there is any information (specific) that I should omit in order to write a successful article?

Additionally, while the notability Wikipedia page was really helpful, I still fail to understand which source would be useful? In the UK, news papers like the Sun/the Mirror are considered tabloid and should not be noteworthy news, but would Wikipedia consider these papers worthy of reference?

Thank you in advance,

Hi!

I understand there were some sources "close" to the artist. I've put other sources, all independent from him and left the "problematic" ones out (iTunes listings, blogs, etc.).

Basically there would be two reasons to include him:

- He's been #1 on an International Independent Music chart, compiled with radio airplay of more than 90 countries.

- He's been nominated for the "independent Grammys" in Spain with his album.

He also has a long discography but I understand that's not reason enough to include him here.

Please let me know your thoughts! This is my first article and I'd like to write more after this one :)

Thank you!

I'm such a newbie and Wikipedia is complicated for me, that I don't know if I'm communicating correctly. Your latest comment asked that "major independent news" organizations be used in references. However, we are a small 501 (c)3 organization in a small town, barely surviving on donations. Our local newspaper has 1 1/2 pages of local news each day, so the chances of getting "major independent news" references are just about non-existent. Do have any suggestions?

We put this page together since we found several Wikipedia pages that reference our organization, but a click on those links took a reader nowhere. We thought we were helping Wikipedia be more comprehensive and could get our story referenced too. If you think our submission is going nowhere, I'm willing to withdraw it.

Thanks.

Could we please use the same criterion which was used and passed for his accepted Spanish-Wiki page? The question is : why his Spanish notability should outrank his English notability? This second attempt of Andrew Radford should only be seen in the light of a translation from Spanish to English (the dominant language of his scholarly works), and to add updated materials.

thanks so much. joseph

I only used press releases to find exact dates of openings and other figures for the company, I never used it for public reception, or rankings. I primarily used business journals and independent news. I would like to understand in more detail what I need for more high quality sources.

How are sources from world-famous and established newspapers as nytimes, theguardian or music-relevant pages like mtv or discogs are NOT reliable. What more reliable sources about a musician can there be than from newspapers everyone has heard from and world famous music pages?? I used well know newspapers or music papers for the general information and well know music databases or the music label/musician websites themself for the discography. Most of these pages even have a wikipedia article themselves... I am sorry - but when i compare this to the pages that the reviewer wrote himself - they are much less and proper referenced. There is also an artist in the list where the reviewer used exactly the same unreliable sources (mtv etc.). I may have not been writing about very well known artist - In fact i think this is the main reason.. But i wrote about one who worked with artist on albums and with producers who achieved Platinum status (often several times) - and i spend a lot of time viewing, comparing and chossing references. And to make the decline even more funny: there is a wikipedia article with a cricketeer of the same name which goes like" Jennifer Turner (born 5 September 1969) is a New Zealand former cricketer." Then one reference. And that was it. So - if i shorten my article to its first sentence "Jennifer Turner is a singer/songwriter musician and producer." and link to one "reliable source" (instead of several...) - guess it is ok and can be approved?

I may agree that the general look can be polished - but sources not reliable?? If so the reviewer himself used those unreliable sources and should decline some of the articles he has on his userpage...

So to recap: it would be kind to point out which sources are the ones who are supposed to be unreliable.

Hello.Thank you for your comment to my article.Actually all links in this articleAre independent reviews from popular Ukrainian internet resources. Could you be so kind to mark those which you considered not reliable. Thank you.

As comment to my improvments you wrote: "The same listed guideline also says that the listed profiles such as MTV, Bandcamp, Discogs, etc. must be removed as they are not independent or significant; while there are now headlines for the journalists, those alone are simply not enough to satisfy WP:Notability (music). Basically these profile-like sources only exist to confirm it exists, but not notability, and especially since anyone can make their own profile, it wouldn't be notable. " No it does not! First: MTV is already removed before the second review as mtv updated their page and i couldnt find the artist page anymore. Which tells me the commentor didnt really check the links. Second: All the links i did not comment further so far are ONLY related to the discography - so mainly Databases LIKE Discogs. The link you refer to refers to creating a WHOLE ARTICLE of an Album, song or whatnot - not a discography INSIDE and as part of an article in which the NOTABILITY or the artist is already proven by 17 references. Also Discogs - cleary fulfills the criteria of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Recordings - as it is not related to the musician, label or whatever. You can even see on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discogs. Significance is a word easily thrown - What makes That it is one of the biggest sources available. To underline this: in articles that probably are reviewed numerous times - like those of a small band called the Beatles Discogs CAN BE FOUND as reference. So - the person itself is already shown to be notable by 17 references spanning the musical carrer. Also no guidline disproves Discogs and other used sources for beeing wrong for the usage on the discography inside this article - even more you can find sources like these in discographys of some of the worlds most famous artists. Just to be sure i gave the Discography of Elvis Presley a try: and again - discogs can be found. 2 out of 2. So either everyone reviewing this articles is wrong. Or i am right in using those references. So please accept my well researched article.

I simply want to create a minor gift for those seniors who will be graduating soon. This is my script, my production, in my high school. Not sure how to verify beyond that. Any help is appreciated.

Hello SwisterTwister,

thanks for the speedy evaluation. Could you please elaborate more on the reason for rejection? I would like to work on it and resubmit it.

Is the reason for rejection:

  1. You do not consider him a notable person although his has collaborated with other notable persons and has received medals, or
  2. The sources that are mentioned are not considered reliable?

Your reply would be appreciated.

Thank you

Dear SwisterTwister, I saw your comment, I think I have addressed the source issue, I used sources that are not related or link back to the company in any way, but going off on your comment about the 5000 list, the link provided doesn't link to the full list, it links to what the company's standing is on that list (for the most current year and all previous years). If you could take a look at the sources again, I would greatly appreciate it (I have changed almost all of them, I evidently had to leave the ones where I got the most basic company information, everything else I changed)

Thanks again

The reviewer said I did not indicate major reviews which was not correct as I indicated Kramer had reviews in the NY Times, ARTnews, and Art in America, in addition to being in a major anthology of feminist artists. I have added some of the museums her work has been shown in. I wondered if the reviewer noted that Kramer peers, the people she worked on and often led, as feminist artist pioneers all have Wikipedia websites already. Pesilikis showed less than she has.

I don't understand what you mean by "notability can not be inherited". Could you explain? This is my first article ever and I'm writing it because it was weird to find that there was only a spanish article in Wikipedia regarding Gonzalez.

Please bear in mind that in my submission: There are references to articles regarding González' work in cultural supplements of all major Argentinean written press: Clarin, Pagina 12, La Nacion. There is a link to a video interview from the Argentinean national TV network (Encuentro is a public signal from the Ministry of Culture: http://encuentro.gob.ar/) There are links to interviews in two highly renowned radio broadcasts in Argentina (Radio Metro, Radio Vorterix). There is a link to a disclosure by Argentinean Embassy in Germany regarding Gonzalez' visit to Berlin to show his work.

Certainly he is not internationally renowned, but his local renown is comparable to many other countercultural artists that do have a profile in Wikipedia. As an example, and for the sake of their similarities, take the case of the Brazilian writer Ferrez.

According to Wikipedia's guidelines for notability (in bold those criteria met by Gonzalez):

Basic criteria: People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published[4] secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other,[5] and independent of the subject.[6]

If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability; trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.[7] Primary sources may be used to support content in an article, but they do not contribute toward proving the notability of a subject.

Criteria for authors, editors, journalists, filmmakers, photographers, artists, architects, and other creative professionals:

The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.

The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique. The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series) or of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews.

The person's work (or works) either (a) has become a significant monument, (b) has been a substantial part of a significant exhibition, (c) has won significant critical attention, or (d) is represented within the permanent collections of several notable galleries or museums.

request for Marcello Aliprandi Article submission by stefanianj

Hi, I am kind of new to wiki. My Article for Marcello Aliprandi, you decliened, is a translation from an original article in the italian wiki (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcello_Aliprandi). Translations of the article already exist in many other languages such as spanish, french and german. I thought it would be a nice thing to have it in English as well since Aliprandi had directed english speaking actors such as academy award winner Martin Balsam and Orson Wells and he certainly meets notability criteria. I did not know how to place the tags on top of the article to show that it was a translation. There are many articles on the interent and books referencing Aliprandi but I was not trying to write an original article but just post a translation of the original Italian article. The original article reference for example a work by Tullio Kezich who is a very noted italian film critic. I still need to add the filmography and the imdb reference. Please help. I look forward to your input. Stefanianj 09:42 04/11/2017 UTC

Hi SwisterTwister,

A couple of days ago you rejected our draft of a page about Chris Lovasz, and we have since improved the draft. We have added a lot of information and third party sources including (but not limited to) the Telegraph, PCGamesN and TenEighty magazine. We are of the belief that Chris Lovasz is quite notable as he has a large fanbase and a large amount of self produced content. he is, in our humble opinions, much more notable than a bunch of youtubers that do already have a wikipedia page such as a number of SourceFed hosts like William Haynes just to name an example. And equally notable as fellow Yogscast members Hat Films.

We hope that you will look at the draft again from a fair and just view and possibly provide us with feedback to improve our page. Thank you in advance,

The community from /r/sips on Reddit.

The page Christine Merline was not accepted due to a lack of 'notability.' Christine Merlin is a relatively young scientist but has made some monumental discoveries in monarch butterfly circadian rhythms and migration patterns, which is outlined on the page. The references cited to support that information is not from Merlin herself but from primary review sources of her materials.

Following this justification, I believe this page has been incorrectly declined.

Thanks for your feedback. To make a case for JetPrivilege I would like to let you know that it is the primary frequent flyer program of India's second largest airlinesJet Airways. It has also been covered on India's popular news websites such as Economic Times,Business Wire and also western media such as USA Today and many more websites. It is also a legitimate corporation and has its listing on many corporate directories. Are not the sources listed in the reference enough to establish notability? They have been retrieved from popular websites in India.

Also on the issue of advertising, I have referred to many frequent flyer pages present on Wikipedia such as EuroBonus,KrisFlyer,Velocity Frequent Flyer & MileagePlus. They too have included similar topics like history, partners, program changes that were negative to customers and a little information about the program structure.

It would be very helpful if you could guide me on where am I going wrong here and what changes to make in order to conform to Wikipedia's policies.

I'm not sure i'm following you on the 'sounds like an advert'. the page just lists the subject's achievements and what he does for a living as most notable people entries do. Jason has thousands of followers and listeners to his pod casts, so it;s important to include all the rest of his career portfolio to make sure those who are interested in him can see what he does.

Another similar example on Wiki of notable people which follow the same tone as this entry is the opening paragraph of Simon Cowell's page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon_Cowell

Happy to edit and resubmit, but perhaps you could provide more specific elements to your feedback?

Hello. I completely understand the need for vigilance to make sure that a Wikipedia page does not become an advertisement for an individual/business. I respect that. However, my article on Jacky Teplitzky was declined because it was "Simply an advertised business profile targeting information to clients, there's no inherited notability from others."

What I don't understand is how having over 20 articles published about you, being a keynote speaker at several events, and appearing on CNBC, CNN, etc does not make you a "notable person." IF the media has decided this person is "notable" is that not enough?

I understand if using her personal page is unethical, and I will remove those citations if need be. I just don't understand how https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dottie_Herman gets approved, but this is declined. Mine has far more sources, more reputable ones, and is written with more research.

I thank you for your time and I hope we can figure something out. Stanley febreezy (talk) 17:51, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

I have a couple of other citations I could add--a link to a Chicago Tonight interview on TV station WTTW and links to interviews on the Brain Scoop and Good Stuff podcasts. I suspect that wouldn't meet your standard if the other publications didn't, but if I'm wrong could you let me know? Thanks. Levi

Jaros, Baum & Bolles Review

Hello. Thank you for reviewing my proposed article so quickly. I didn't expect to see anything for several days at best. I guess it's a good sign that it caught your attention. Based on your comments, I looked up other articles for professional services firms (e.g., architects, engineers) and found a recent one that you reviewed and approved. I modeled this re-submission after that article exactly. I hope this will sufficiently resolve the shortcomings of the initial submission (or at least get the article close enough that a minor tweak or two would do). Thank you again, sincerely, for your interest and advice.JAGG102502 (talk) 20:54, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

6 March 2017 decline of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Eclipse_Jazz

Hi David,

I hope my concerns regarding your rejection of my draft on Eclipse Jazz will reach you here.

From what I understand, the article has been declined three times with concerns about my sources. This baffles me as the sources include articles from three national music magazines (Billboard, Down Beat, & Jazz) and 8 articles from the two major newspapers of Detroit Michigan, the 11th largest US market. There are nine sources from The Ann Arbor News. The three newspapers, including Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News, all have Wikipedia pages. Within the article, there are 53 Wikipedia cites, mostly of the artists presented by Eclipse Jazz.

University of Michigan student radio station WCBN-FM was the primary media partner of Eclipse Jazz. IT has a Wikipedia page.

Please help me understand what I have done incorrectly. Many thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for the review.

Would you happen to have any specific suggestions for changes I can make to get this page approved? I have created this page based on the Wikipedia pages of our competitor companies which look very similar to ours.

Here is one example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synology_Inc.

27 out of their 30 references are from their own company website.

How did their page get approved?

I am confused by the rejection of this page. Please see ACTIVE page for actor Rusty Ross. I used that page as a reference and guide. He has less credits, less citations and much less notoriety. The reviewer suggested that this was an advertisement, but I have no interest in providing free advertisement for companies; I simply found this company interesting as I am a tech geek. Apparently I should have checked for 3rd party sources before starting on this article. This company is very new, which I should have realized wikipedia is not a place for new companies with no history. I will revisit this page once there have been independent sources to confirm what I have written and make edits as needed.

Dear Swister Twister, The article I'm posting about Mr. Hugh Duncan Wilson, has been declined by lacking of notability. He is a very shy person, and although always requested by Volvo Museum (Volvo Ocean Race) he never submitted anything about his history. The man is very well known in the sailing industry, specially by those who sail offshore. He is known as one of the "Sailing Legends" and there is 2 books wich tells the story of the quest of conquering the 2nd Round the World Race back 1977.

If reading the book, you will realize that Mr. Wilson under coordination of the visionary Cornelis Van Rietschoten, was in charge of accompany the construction and find sailing solutions that made possible the conquering of the race. After the Flyer, the industry of sailing racing yachts has changed coming to what we know now as the F1 of the seas - The Volvo Ocean Race.

Mr Hugh Wilson, was crucial part of this and is in the picture that covers the two books, besides the texts of course. He was also invited to join the Volvo Ocean Race that will take place this year (2017) for the "Legends Race", a movement is being done to rejoin all the remain Flyer crew and the boat itself to do the regatta.

As a new user, I understand the article may be missing the correct style and finishing but I would like too have the chance of keep on improving and updating it. Once his article is be on, I'm pretty sure other users around the globe will add info as well.

Ps. Mr. Wilson just fight and won a war against a cancer and is decided to comeback to the sailing industry as a skipper and panelist. And this article in wikipedia is crucial to Youngers to get to know about him and his work.

Thanks for your comprehension.

Hello SwisterTwister,

I am writing to find out why you rejected the draft of Joshua Sullivan based on the notability criteria. Mr. Sullivan is a renowned data scientist, author and thought leader who is widely quoted in the media. He founded a highly respected data science competition that focuses on solving global problems (detecting heart disease, improving the health of oceans, etc.) with Anthony Goldbloom, who happens to have a Wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Goldbloom). Additionally, the article on Mr. Goldbloom has six references, while the article on Mr. Sullivan has over a dozen references. Lastly, if you google Joshua Sullivan along with the term "data science," over 329,000 results are generated.

Given Mr. Sullivan's accomplishments and notoriety, he clearly meets the notability criteria. So further clarification from you would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly. DrSyence (talk) 17:45, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

First, a person who receives so much coverage by the independent print & electronic media in different countries as well as from such Heads of State as Queen Elizabeth II etc, is a "notable" person and, hence, readers should be able to find information about him/ her in an Encyclopedia. Secondly, I am an Advocate-on-Record (Supreme Court of India) and am well-conversant with Law, but the way the Page (which was still under construction at "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Creativegb/Jugpreet_Bajwa") has been DELETED by your "administrator" shows that your he/ she does not know even the ABC of Law. Thirdly, it was explained in the appropriate Box while uploading the image, that it was not intended by its Author to be "copyrighted". Apparently, your concerned "administrator" does not know anything about the Copyright Laws, especially about the 'publicity material'. Fourthly, in violation of the Principles of Natural Justice, no reasons at all have been given by your "administrator" for the said DELETION -- simply saying that "See the Section about speedy-deletion" WITHOUT specifying the particular rule that has been violated, is no ground at all for deletion. Fifthly, Pages that are still under construction, ought not to be DELETED. Creativegb (talk) 15:18, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

I am a physician. The US government (US National Library of Medicine) and medical specialists no longer use the outdated term "Alternative Medicine" (removed from the US National Library of Medicine terminology in 2002). The new term (as of 2009) is "Integrative Medicine". Therefore, the Wikipedia article titled "Alternative Medicine" needs to be renamed "Integrative Medicine" to reflect the current terminology amongst physicians, researchers, the Institute of Medicine, and the US Government (e.g. the National Institute of Health and the Health Resources and Services Administration.). Alternatively, Wikipedia could rename the current article titled "Alternative Medicine" to "Quackery" or "Pseudoscience", and create a new article called "Integrative Medicine" that does not forward to the Quackery page.

An essential field of activity in Dariush Borbor's case is architecture; and so, most relevant Wikipedia notability criteria are those applying to creative professionals. Note that (a) conditions 3 and 4 of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(people)#Creative_professionals, and condition 9 of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(academics) are clearly satisfied in Borbor's case.

Hello! Thank you for a quick review, I appreciate you took the time to look the draft over. I was hoping you could provide me with a more in-debth explanation for the rejection. I made sure to provide a number of sources (including Slate, Bleeding Cool and hypable) that went beyond the required minimum of two. As for notability, aside from aforementioned sources, she is also mentioned repeatedly on various Wikipedia pages (such as: Critical Role (where she is the only cast member without a wikipedia article), Geek & Sundry, The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, Adam Green (filmmaker), Anime Milwaukee or Anime Matsuri to mention a few). I was sure what I assembled was enough for at least a stub and I would be really grateful for some additional guidance. -- Alex (talk) 20:39, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Good afternoon,

Regarding my recent submission of the BigStuf Camps organization article, I wanted to check in to see if I could receive more detailed instructions how to better create this organization's Wikipedia article/page. The reason for it not being approved was "Too suggestive of an organization profile, sources are only announcements or notices."

I was referencing another similar camp (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Gray) on Wikipedia to create the one for BigStuf.com. From my perspective, they seem very similar in content and style with citations.

How would you recommend I update the article to make is more like the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camp_Gray and be approved? Very eager to hear your specific thoughts since the citations noted in the BigStuf article are the only online citations found that details the BigStuf organizations profile.

thanks so much! Rodney

Request for assistance on Draft:Veterans United Home Loans

Hello, I appreciate you taking the time to review the updates I made. While I do understand that sources should be from independent news sources, not every fact about the company that is mentioned warrants a major news network story to verify it’s significance and accuracy.

Shouldn’t this company’s notability be judged comparatively to the main competitors in its industry? Parts of my draft are similar in content and citations as other mortgage lenders’ accepted articles, such as USAA, Navy Federal, Flagstar Bank, Caliber Home Loans, Live Well Financial, Zeus Mortgage and Guaranteed Rate.

I truly believe the sources I am using are more reliable than the sources used in each of those company articles. Most cite the company websites repeatedly, include press releases, trivial business announcements and rely on local news coverage to fill gaps in company history. None of those articles would meet the criteria my draft is being held to.

For example, every one of USAA’s references are from an USAA owned domain. Flagstar bank cites a local source (Crain’s Detroit Business) for over half of its references. Caliber Homes, Live Well Financial and Zeus Mortgage all have promotional language; further Zeus Mortgage only finances $5 million in volume compared to Veterans United’s $9 billion. Lastly, Guaranteed Rate’s article is mostly “trivial” business awards. The point being that each of these companies rely on local and trade publications for their notability.

I have made some significant edits to both the content and references, focusing on including sources outside of the company’s local community. How would you recommend I update the article to be accepted? Thanks, MasterSloper516 (talk) 02:23, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello,

I would like to request this article to be reviewed again, as it has been quite a while since its last review. It was rejected then, but I have tried to add better information to better fulfill the notability requirements.

The firm discussed in the article is a major aluminium producer, both in China and globally, and is therefore frequently mentioned in the Chinese media and official government publications, though it also appears in English media outlets. This I believe satisfies the notability requirements.

Seeing how the review backlog does not seem to get resolved, I was wondering whether you could revisit this article considering that it is a resubmission.

Thanks!

Deprodding of Malawi terror beast

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Malawi terror beast, which you proposed for deletion, because I think that the deletion of this article may be controversial. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Ks0stm (TCGE) 01:40, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

Speaking of your PRODs: While I commend you for using very explanatory and detailed rationales sometimes, particularly long ones do not fit in the deletion rationale text box, and so some of them I've had to trim down, such as here and here. When you use PROD rationales more than a sentence or two long, could you please do us admins a favor and make sure the first sentence summarizes the rationale as a whole so that the deletion log still captures the essence of the reasoning, even if parts of it get cut off? Hi, I hope this works... referring to my proposed article about Martín Palmeri - I wan't sure how to add external links without making them direct citations within the article and thus proof of stuff stated therein. So, questions - #1: Is it sufficiant to just add a section "external links" at the end of the page? #2: There are plenty of concert reviews, but the most serious ones are German-language, do they still count? Some articles from France, Italy and Argentina may also be provided, but their journalistic quality is doubtful. The English-language ones are, unfortunately, commercial and review-for-hire only. That's one of the reasons I wanted to create a wiki article in the first place, which leads to #3 - is there any way I can categorise the article? I read wiki's "music" guidelines and as Mr. Palmeri clearly falls into a non-mainstream subgenre, or rather three (tango nuevo, contemporary classical and sacred music), out of which he has pretty much generated his own sub-subgenre and is widely performed the world over, I think his relevance should be noted, somehow.

Very curious to see how this works out, as the code frankly scares me dead... ;-)

Looking to get clarification on your draft comment. When you say, "specifically focus with..." do you mean to say additional evidence from major sources is needed or that certain references should be trimmed down to be trimmed down to emphasize major publications only?

Could also use clarification on what exactly is meant by "notability cannot be inherited from others" and how the article or what sections, citations, etc. specifically you're referring to that would be considered "inheriting notability" from others.

Thanks! Rdev5 (talk) 05:09, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to give me feedback on my submission. I understand that the Huffington Post article not being a credible source because it is an interview.

The festival has 8 stages, daily workshops, art installations, and a daytime splash pool. [2]

^Does this information about the festival need to be credited? I’ve taken a look at other festival pages that are on Wikipedia and they don’t seem to have statements like that credited to a source. For example see link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Summer_Meltdown

Another example would be Lucidity Festival, see link below:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucidity_(festival)#cite_note-1

The first source listed simply states “Why Lucidity?” Then when I tried to click the link for further investigation, the page was not found.

Lucidity is an annual, three-day transformational festival in Santa Barbara, California.

^This is also not credited to a source.

Is there a range of how many sources Wiki likes an article to include for it to be considered acceptable? Lucidity Festival seems to have 5; Summer Meltdown Festival has 3.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and give me feedback about my article. I look forward to getting the issues fixed. Keelmaster123 (talk) 19:36, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Draft:Jessica O. Matthews

Hi ST, I wanted to check back in about the Jessica O. Matthews draft, which I and another editor have expanded since we last spoke. As numerous major outlets (USAToday, Forbes, Fortune, Christian Science Monitor, NBCNews, CBS News, Public Radio International, Bloomberg) have devoted whole articles to Matthews and her work (i.e. not just mentions) and this secondary source attention has been sustained since 2011, it seems to me she meets our GNG standards. Thoughts? Thanks for having a look. Hope you're well. Innisfree987 (talk) 01:43, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

Thank you for your recent articles, including Jan Miller, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 07:31, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Jed Armstrong

Hi there, with reference to my draft page on Jed Armstrong, please could you clarify whether it is really that his career is not notable enough OR that the references to his career aren't good enough? There do seem to be plenty of other minor musicians with pages on here. The reason for creating this page is largely in response to his being asked about the Quittenton-Stewart story so often and its implications for Stewart's success. Hello. Thank you for your review of my submitted article. I would appreciate further guidance as although your reasons for declining at this time refer to a lack of "reliable sources", yet the references listed at the bottom of the article all relate to verifiable news media articles published. I have also included several pictures that further substantiate the honors bestowed upon Gerry Ramsberger as referenced in the newspaper articles that are part of the reference links. Although not listed, and although I can do so if desired, I personally interviewed Thomas Ramsberger, one of the youngest son's of Gerry Ramsberger. I am not sure what other information I would need to provide in order to satisfy the requirement that the individual is of adequate notability. To the citizens of the Tampa Bay area he was most notable as evidenced by the articles as well as the memorial tributes he has been accorded both within the high school sporting community, his status as being named Professor Emeritus by St. Petersburg College, and the other community tributes noted within the article itself. Accordingly I would appreciate any further guidance you may be able to provide.

Secondly, there is an error message at the bottom of the srticle that relates to a Cite Error, but I am not sure why this is appearing or how to rectify this issue, so I would be most appreciative if you could either advise how to eliminate it or please eliminate it on my behlalf. I have also included my phone number should you wish to discuss via a phone call.

Thank you again for your assistance in this matter. The family and the Tampa Bay community will be most grateful for your assistance in getting this article published.

East Hope Group Draft

Hi SwisterTwister,

I would like to elaborate on why I feel the notability requirements pertaining to my East Hope article have been fulfilled.

All the information contained in the article is taken from reputable sources. I have relied on established publications observing and analyzing the aluminium industry, widely circulated English news outlets major Asian English-language dailies, Chinese news articles, as well as official government publications in Chinese.

Industry About is a standard reference for industrial data in the metals sector based on transparency and a standardized method of gathering and analyzing data, including East Hope, as in this case. http://www.industryabout.com/country-territories-3/2094-china/aluminium-industry/32078-east-hope-baotou-aluminium-smelter

Bloomberg: well-established and well-trusted, the info cited is taken from its East Hope profile summary. https://www.bloomberg.com/profiles/companies/EHGCLZ:CH-east-hope-group-co-ltd

AluWatch is a major new aluminium industry watchdog consisting of individuals, NGOs, business seeking to reduce the impact of climate change. It compiles a yearly set of key figures about the most important players in the market, and I used its East Hope figures. http://www.aluwatch.org/key-figures/

Forbes provides a highly anticipated list of the world’s billionaires on a yearly basis, from which the cited info about East Hope founder Liu Yongxing was taken. http://www.forbes.com/china-billionaires/list/#tab:overall

China.org is the Chinese government’s official news website, which means that the information provided needs to be utilized critically. However, no other news site has provided such an in-depth report of the Liu brothers and their respective enterprises including East Hope, in English. http://www.china.org.cn/video/2008-10/27/content_16672447.htm

Baidu is China’s premier Internet services provider, acting as a search engine, encyclopedia, etc. Info contained here is shared and read widely and, similar to Wikipedia, crowd sourced. Because of its role as an aggregator of information, Baidu’s website on East Hope is an excellent Chinese source. http://baike.baidu.com/view/1198423.htm

2011 USGS Mineral Yearbook: a primary resource for anything related to minerals, there is barely any other publicly available report with such a range of information on activities of individual companies that would normally be ignored in other publications. https://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/aluminum/myb1-2011-alumi.pdf

Platts: one of the most influential news provider, market and data analyst of natural resource markets. Its Metals Daily series is always the go-to publication for up to date, detailed observations on developments in the industry or individual companies. The same is true for Antaike’s Alumina & Aluminum Monthly, though with a narrower focus on aluminium. Because of East Hope’s prolific activities, the series often features concise articles on the company. The same applies to Antaike’s publications. https://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/commodity/aluminum/myb1-2011-alumi.pdf http://www.antaike.com/uploadfiles/20120619/2012061915421737061.pdf

Aluminium Insider is a leading news platform specialized in the aluminium industry, supported by possibly the largest metals news analyst, Metal Bulletin. In a similar vein, Asian Metal stands out because of its interviews with people in the industry and relevant companies, such as in this case, where they interviewed an East Hope manager. http://aluminiuminsider.com/chinas-east-hope-group-to-invest-us1-5-bn-in-inner-mongolia/ http://www.asianmetal.com/metal_cron/2015/index_lunshi_wangzaitian_en.shtml

Xinhua is the Chinese government’s official press agency, so a critical mind is required, but is generally trustworthy when it comes to reporting government announcements and policy shifts, such as the one quoted in this Xinhua article. Although this article didn’t mention East Hope by name, it still provided relevant information in the context of East Hope’s business. http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-06/16/c_135442680.htm

The Jakarta Post is commonly regarded as one of the most credible papers in Indonesia. The article specifically singles out East Hope for adding new capacity, in contrast to what the government demands. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/09/14/china-vows-to-cut-aluminum-output-but-producers-plan-growth-.html

All the Chinese Ministry and EPA publicationsChinabusiness (talk) 08:44, 22 March 2017 (UTC) are official documents of acute relevance to East Hope and offer a unique first-hand look into Chinese government action regarding the company’s activities. The level of detail has not been covered in the English-language media. They deal exclusively with East Hope. http://www.mep.gov.cn/gkml/hbb/qt/201105/t20110526_211199.htm http://www.zhb.gov.cn/gkml/hbb/qt/201410/t20141028_290801.htm http://www.sdein.gov.cn/zwgk/gclssddqbz/2015/201504yue/201505/t20150513_278400.html http://www.dezhou.gov.cn/n19466299/n19789916/n19789964/n19790088/n19790326/n19790328/n19790344/c25185140/content.html

Toxicleaks is a unique activist project that aggregates information about environmental scandals, so it’s a natural source for anything related to this theme. This article deals exclusively with one of East Hope’s failed red mud reservoirs in English. https://toxicleaks.com/wiki/The_scourge_of_red_mud_strikes_the_Chinese_countryside_again

163/NetEase is a widely read Chinese daily online paper. With the Chinese public becoming increasingly outspoken on the state of the environment, papers like these have become increasingly important in reporting on pollution accurately. Again, East Hope is the focus here. http://henan.163.com/16/1216/14/C8DPC1F302270ILI.html

As a result, it is fair to say that East Hope, no less because of the controversies surrounding activities, is very much a part of the public discourse in the context of Chinese metal manufacturers.

Given the broad reach of these sources across both English and Chinese-speaking audiences, I do not follow the reasoning that more and/or qualitative news sources are required to add substance to the article. To sum up, the sources used are important, verifiable and reputable in their coverage of East Hope, so I hope we can proceed with the publication of this article.

Thanks! Chinabusiness (talk) 08:44, 22 March 2017 (UTC)

Stavatti Aerospace in AfC

Hi SwisterTwister, I'm pondering the future of Draft:Stavatti Aerospace. I thought perhaps the newspaper article references would be enough to get it over the line. Should I move it somewhere else, for further work? I could move it back to my personal space, but have realised that I'm not sure what the correct procedure is, once it has entered the AfC process...or in fact how to move it there. merlinVtwelve (talk) 03:42, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi,

This is regarding the draft I submitted, draft:Rivigo.

I have cited multiple independent, reliable and published sources for the content I have added which has not been produced by the creator of the subject under discussion. This includes sources that are renowned all around the world such as Bloomberg and Business Insider.

Could you please let me know which part of the draft was deemed as unsatisfactory?

Thank you!

Thank you for your review however I disagree and am getting frustration that this is not being approved. Can you suggest what I can do to get this approved.

1) This page has NUMEROUS CREDIBLE CITATIONS. 2) A company name is not mentioned even once--it only focuses on the technology which is scientific in nature. 3) This page ALREADY EXISTS IN TWO OTHER LANGUAGES (DUTCH AND GERMAN).

I fixed items from the last two denials and TheMagnificentist wanted more sources so after I did that, he said "When I declined it, it had only four references. I see it's been improved significantly. Try re-submitting it again and wait for another reviewer to review it. Thanks!". Robert McClenon didn't like that Bodycote was mentioned too often, so I removed all mentions of it. I've sought help from the chat page where others have made tweaks to make it compliant. I don't know what else I can do.

The information located in the page are FACTS backed-up with almost 30 years worth of DATA from sources like OAK RIDGE NATIONAL LABORATORY, BBC News, British Stainless Steel Association, and University of Applied Sciences, Konstanz, Germany.

This is not an opinion or sales piece. This is the only technology in the WORLD that does what it does. It deserves a place in the English version of the encyclopedia.

Please help. I don't know what else to do.

My first AFC review - Coolbet

Hello! Could you please help oversee my first article, that I happened to decline for reasons mentioned over the same?
I know for a fact (from all your work and not so much looking at the stats) that you have more experience than most whom I've come across in this segment and was hoping you could provide your 2 cents on my 1st. I understand that you must already be super swamped with all the tasks that you normally do and would understand if you choose not to (just that I would not want to have done something inappropriate and further not take measures to rectify in case of an error).
Apologies for the intrusion. Thanks.

@SwisterTwister: Trust that this response was removed accidentally? In any case, thank you so much for taking the time. I hope that it would be okay if I reach out to have my first approved article verified too (I do realize that it is easy to find flaws and decline an article than rather back another article for creation with absolute certainty). Besides, with this article I was also a bit hesitant as it dealt with matters of Gambling (though I know for a fact there are articles already existing here within similar genre - still finishing my research to be sure and thorough though).
Thanks, again! Will try and clear those backlogs as far as possible.

22:37:35, 26 March 2017 review of submission by Pinballdot

Hi, first of all thank you for reviewing my article so quickly. Then, I am new to wikipedia editing and this article is my first one, thus I apologise for mistakes. If I understand correctly there are 2 problems with my article: 1. EAA not notable enough 2. Lack of independent sources

On the first one I have used a similar structure and framework as for LAR, also based in Luxemborg. Other air ambulance organisations (e.g., Norsk Luftambulanse, Kent Air Ambulance, etc.), with less assets and less missions, have dedicated pages. What is then wrong with this one? I genuinely want to understand, please.

On the second, I can probably find more sources, but I am afraid it may be a useless exercise if we don't solve the first problem.

Is my understanding correct?

Kind regards

Not really requesting a re-review, I'm asking for clarification: Thanks for the fast review - I expected it to take a week. If I'm understanding you correctly, one objection is that the article is a simple company description. This is true, but I don't understand how any of the companies listed in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Biometrics_software are any different.

You also said that the links were "simply announcements or notices" and this I do *not* understand. I did include links to relevant wikipedia pages, because that seems to be the point. But the cited articles are about original work on privacy and biometric identification performed by the referenced company.

The first is about work on defeating biometric face recognition systems by the company was written about in Forbes. This same set of work was written about in multiple sources but I only cited one, to avoid repetition. Would it be better to cite all of them?

The second is another reference where the company was interviewed on the topic of privacy and identity technology. The last is a presentation on defeating biometric identification technology, also by the company. All three of these are references to original work by the TIS founder.

After reviewing the draft with a legal colleague, he believed that the information on the page would be considered "facts" and would not necessarily require citation. Hello SwisterTwister, I discovered today that you deleted this page submission due to it being perceived as advertising. That was not our intention. Based on the reply I received when I submitted, we had a few weeks to polish it and eliminate any language that violated your rules. The TTC team and I were working on that behind the scenes. We're actually not interested in advertising anything and I'm sorry that it came across that way. We're applying for B-Corp status and this is an altruistic submission as the travel industry and traveler alike use this term in different and confusing ways. In the industry, we're recognized as the thought leaders on this topic and based on previous travel trends/movements like Ecotourism and Sustainable Travel both came from the organizations that defined the concepts and provided the needed framework. How's this any different?

I'm sorry if I'm missing something, but please let me know how we can move forward with resubmitting?

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

Is the reason for rejection:

  2. The sources that are mentioned are not considered reliable?

How can a user protect a page

It is very saddened that the management of Wikipedia accept any form of report about a profile without confirmation from the source.

Therefore I want to know how to protect a page.

Consider this page that contains a fake news. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alieu_Darbo

How on earth can this happen that a football player sent emails to clubs and they sign him. Has that happened before in the history of football without any Agent or scout or club representative involved.

Have a rethink about this.

This is a page for a very good friend of mine and I want it edit. It is a lie by thinking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ode070 (talkcontribs) 16:12, 28 March 2017 (UTC)

I don't really need assistance; I just wished to acknowledge and respond to the reviewer's feedback. I'm aware that my draft needs citations to more sources, and I consider this draft a work-in-progress.

I'd also like to note that there seemed to be no way to save a draft without submitting it for review. If there was a way to do so, then that is what I would have done.

The generic note that "This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability", etc, was constructive. The comment, "Not satisfying our simplest standards" was not really constructive.

Thanks!

Draft: Mitchell Kummen

This was my first article. So, clearly, I have a lot to learn. However, I need to understand if it's primarily the quality of the references or the notability. I believe that I can improve them somewhat in accordance with the guidelines. As to notability, there seem to be be many young actors who have pages with fewer acting credits, so I am a bit confused by that. I put in nearly full time for a week on this and hopefully I can get it to an acceptable level. Any more specific guidance you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks. Gary Gary.W.Fuller (talk) 23:37, 29 March 2017 (UTC)

My thanks

Hi SwisterTwister, have noticed your username on several of the articles created and submitted for review on 28 March at the edit-a-thon at Sydney University. I'm sure that reviewing so many articles from brand-new Wikipedians has been a mammoth task, and I wanted to say thank you for your work and for the input/comments provided to new editors. I'm assisting a few of the people who came to our training with their edits, you'll see my name pop up on a few of these over the next few days/weeks. Thanks and cheers, Hcmcf (talk) 01:10, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Sorry to ask you another question, but before I start editing and adding more authoritative sources as references, I want to be reasonably sure that this is the primary issue. The reason I say that is that there are 1140 people on Wikipedia that were born in 1999. Many of the athletes, singers, and actors are not particularly notable. Since Mitchell Kummen is an actor, I'll stay with that group. When I cross-reference notable actors from IMDb born in 1999 with Wikipedia articles I see many—maybe even most—that have not appeared in as many film and television projects, have not won any or few awards, and are certainly not a "household name." If they have won awards they're local and focused on Young Actors. So, although Kummen is not as notable as George Clooney—he certainly passes the "smell test" in my mind. Of course, this is subjective. I don't think it is "too soon in his career" based on the articles I have reviewed, but I certainly *do* agree that the references can be improved in terms of the reliability of the sources. I hope you can give me (and Kummen) the benefit of the doubt here. If I am missing something let me know. Just for my education, do reviewers tend to look at the References first—not the other content of the article? And if they do that, it might be understandable how you arrived at your conclusion. Any help you can provide beyond the approach I think I should take would certainly be appreciated. Thanks again! Gary.W.Fuller (talk) 02:29, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Revised draft of Society of Quantitative Analysts page

Hi. Thank you for your comment about the revised draft of the Society of Quantitative Analysts page. I agree with you that more news sources would be great. Somehow, we seem to generate lots of interest in our programs -- we had a sellout crowd of over 100 at our full day event earlier this month -- without generating much news. Most of the promotion of the events is done via our website, email, LinkedIn, MeetUp, or Twitter, leaving very little news trail.

That is why we've added links to our LinkedIn and MeetUp groups and to the bios of some of our former and current board members, officers, and speakers.

Would other groups providing links about our organization or events help? Here are a couple of possible examples. [2] [3] [4] [5]

I can also add links to folks on on Advisory Board if that would help: Nicholas Barberis, Yale University Kent Daniel, Columbia University Joel Hasbrouck, NYU Harrison Hong, Columbia University Jeffrey Wurgler, NYU

We are a serious organization with over 50 years of history. I wanted to post the flyer for the 50th Anniversary Gala we had last year, but I'm not sure if that can be done. I don't personally own the copyright for it, but it belongs to the SQA and I represent the SQA (I'm on the board and a few of my fellow board members are helping with the Wikipedia page). We are, however, as you can tell, inexperienced with Wikipedia. We'd appreciate any suggestions you have.

Thanks again for your help, Melanie Petscm (talk) 14:47, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

AfC review of Ol Ravy‎

I need to object to acceptance of this of this AfC submission. The whole point of having the SPI notice placed on the draft was to try and keep evasion out of the mainspace. If you think it's appropriate, please move it back the draft space. It'll be G5'd soon enough one way or the other. What's more important is that this not happen again, because this not first time you've facilitated block evasion in this case. It's not even the first time I've brought this up here (see User talk:SwisterTwister/Archive 6#Cambodian football AFC submissions.) Please do not accept any further AfC submissions, especially anonymous ones, that show signs of sockpuppetry such as an explicit notice or previous G5 deletions of the article or draft. Thank you. 12:32:47, 1 April 2017 review of submission by TGSTINT

You posted an very unspecific and completely nonsense reply to my question to point out the unreliable sources.

"Not satisfying our simplest standards and current sources are too focused as announcements, profiles or notices and what we specifically need is independent significant news. SwisterTwister talk 17:57, 31 March 2017 (UTC)"

So to go deeper - my references: 1.nytimes - no need to say more. If this is unreliable - close wikipedia 2.pauseandplay - a music site available since 1997. According to Entertainment Weekly's one of the "100 greatest Websites." with Interviews, Album Reviews etc.. 26k Twitter Followers.. - If this is unreliable... 3.mtv.com - no need to say more... 4.45worlds.com - a cd Database where you can see the actual cover scans i refer to and read the stated information on the scan... - cant be more reliable 5.adequacy.net - a music page with Interviews and Review founded 1999. 4k Twitter Followers. 6.sonicscoop.com - Entertainment webpage with Interviews - 15k Twitter Followers

I could go over this with all links - like discogs - one of the greatest album information databases (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discogs) or simply the label pages with the information for the discography. Just because some of the links used are no mass media doesnt make them non-independent, non-significant or whatever.

I dont see any kind of announcement you are refering to - i ONLY see independent significant news - be it from a well-known newspaper website, highly frequented music page or database. All pages have masses of subscribers who follow their interviews and news - just like any "normal" newspaper. Also you can ALREADY found almost ALL the bands she played or worked in in wikipedia - in almost every article the is ALREADY mentioned. Is that independet and significant? Cause in all those article there isnt even a reference to the name...

So again: please SHOW the unrealiable sources instead of throwing out a nonsense copy-paste comment. Cause so far I hardly doubt you checked out any of the sources I used. And again: simplest standard?? See my Jennifer Turner Cricketeer Reference....

Hi there, thanks for the feedback on the draft page for Glosten, Inc. You requested that I add "all additional major independent news overall." Happy to do so, just trying to understand the scope of this request. Basically, any independent news corresponding to significant events (both positive and negative) within the history of the company? Also, should I include these in the external links section, or write them up as actual components of the article?

Stephen Johnson page

You recently created a page for Stephen Jacobsen, a distinguished professor emeritus of bioengineering at the University of Utah. You named it "Stephen Jacobsen (biologist)", which is inaccurate as he was a professor of bioengineering and his academic degrees were in mechanical engineering. The bulk of his academic work was in medical/defense robotics and the sources you cited corroborate this, so it's not clear to me where you got that his specialty was biology. I have requested for the page to be renamed to "Stephen Jacobsen", but if you have the power to do this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, Blueclaw (talk) 18:34, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Thank you for reading my page. However, I would argue that NYT, ESPN, Outside, and Cosmo are all valid sources. Even if she wrote articles herself, those were fact-checked and edited by staffers at those publications. As an editor who’s worked at several national publications, I myself, would consider these valid sources in any article my writers were creating. To address your concerns, I have added even more sources from various local newspapers, as well as national sources. The fact is, this woman has changed the outdoor industry in major ways, and I don’t understand how you can say she’s not a notable person after seeing her name published in such major media outlets. I hosted an editathon in an effort to get more notable women of the outdoor industry into the encyclopedia, and we had Wikipedia volunteers there to help guide us through the process. We were trained one-on-one by them. The fact that you continue to reject these game changers in the industry is a serious issue. You’re hindering our efforts to close the gender gap on the site and, perhaps if someone who was more familiar with the outdoor industry were approving these pages, they’d better understand that rejecting these women is quite alarming.

Abigailwise (talk) 20:41, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Happening to stop by here, let me answer. It is indeed essential that we expand the coverage on notable women; we do this by adding articles on notable women. Adding articles on women who are not notable detracts from the purpose of the project, and is just as improper as adding articles on non-notable men. Using a lower standard for women implies that women cannot do as well as men. In other contexts such a statement would be seen as patronizing and misogynistic; it this context I understand that's not the intended implication, but it is misguided. I'd be glad to explain this to the editor who guided you to select article topics. DGG ( talk ) 07:22, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

I see no recourse but to appeal your decision not to allow me to use my own words, about my research and book, which I wrote in my Wikipedia page for the Shroud Codes. Although, the text I wrote for my Wikipedia page seems like it was paraphrased from the Amazon.com ad for my book that I published entitled, SHROUD CODES IN THE BIBLE, there was no other way in which for me to recount in words what my research and book were about. I was as concise and descriptive as could be and because I own the copyright to the book, in effect, the words that described my research and book are owned by me and none else. To attempt to describe in alternative words what my research and book are about, would be impossible, where my Wikipedia page for the Shroud Codes are concerned. J.R. @Infinitewikieditor: Trust that you are referring to Draft:Shivaji Thorve. The subject in question has held a local office of Corporator and please note that per WP:POLITICIAN, it is not notable enough as it is not a national or sub-national office; you may refer the same in this image here.
Does not hold much coverage either as the references cited do not credibly justify the significance of the subject in question.
Besides that, it would help better structure the article if you refer WP:NONENG as most of the references are not in English. Thanks.

Request for review of Draft:Veterans United Home Loans

Hello SwisterTwister, Can you please elaborate on the issues I raised in my last request for assistance? I noticed that it was archived without a response. I'd like to continue improving this draft to address the issues that you have raised.

For reference, here is my previous request:

Thanks, MasterSloper516 (talk) 14:23, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Draft:Mitchell Kummen (updated and improved)

Hi David! Many thanks for your three quick responses to my original submission and follow-up questions. I have worked very hard over the last week to find EVERY source available online using your recommended links as well as others. I believe that I have definitely established Kummen's notability. He has 25+ acting credits to his name, and only more to come—and this is all before age 18. The fact of the matter is Kummen has a lot of irons in the fire now and I believe that more and more people will want to know more about him than the brief bios that IMDb and other fan sites provide. That's why I undertook this project in the first place. Please take a look, particularly at the References, and let me know. If your response is positive, then I will resubmit immediately thereafter. Thank you for your comment, but I didn't used sources from the company because fortunately Wikipedia is not Craigslist :) Also, I don't think that online publications such as ChannelInsider, ChannelProNetwork, Channele2e, The WHIR, Redmond Channel Partner are close to Unigma company. IF this is the case, what sources would you consider not close to the company because today several famous websites accept third-party contributions? The mentioned ones don't. I respect Wikipedia and I trully think Unigma should be found here because of its unique cloud cost analytics and forecasting system.

I am still new to this. I've added a number of references though not sure which of these qualify as independent sources. New York Times is notable. Referencing a science journal such as Optics should contribute some academic third party neutral perspective. The company has existed for 20 years, which is mostly why I feel it deserves a place in the scheme of things. In my opinion, Wikipedia lists many companies of much less far reaching significance. For example, you may notice plenty of links to Wiki articles on relevant pieces of emerging technologies addressed by the company. Where a number of those pages reference MicroVision, there is no reciprocal link to validate the company's existence. Meanwhile I'll continue to address your suggestions. Hi there! Sorry to keep messaging you but I was wondering if I could get your opinion on Draft:International Documentation of Electroacoustic Music? Please see the draft's talk page for it as well as this on my talk page.

Thanks for your time!

  • TheSandDoctor No worries, I'm absolutely happy to help!  ; I believe the subject is likely notable and could be accepted now, but additional sourcing is of course welcome. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 23:01, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
I will accept it, would you call it start or stub class? I am kind of leaning towards the latter (stub) rather than the formal (start). --TheSandDoctor (talk) 23:03, 8 April 2017 (UTC)
It's not quite "Start" class yet, so "Stub" yes. SwisterTwister talk 23:06, 8 April 2017 (UTC)

Draft:V-Key

Hi SwisterTwister: Thanks for reviewing the Draft:V-Key page and thanks for the tip! but i must say i am really puzzled why trade publications are in anyway less independent then mainstream publications - the subject (in this case V-Key) doesn't own the publication, nor has any influence on the publication. i buy the argument that the citations cannot only be based on references derived from company announcements or those from social media, but it is really strange that facts presented in articles by trade publications, which don't "service the specific business" as you mentioned, are less convincing. Trade publications simply put out stories, good or bad, in a particular sector/space, isn't it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adsiah (talkcontribs) 03:06, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Second opinion request on Draft:Ara Vartanian

You were the last one to review Draft:Ara Vartanian and that is why I am asking you the following. What do you think of it in its current state? I am thinking that it should be declined but want a second opinion as to if you agree and, if so, what it should be declined as.

Thanks for your time!

Second opinion request on Draft:Malibu Coast AVA

I made this a sub section to my above one as they are related and I am asking the same question regarding this one only I am on the fence as to if it should be declined. Oxford University Press, LA Magazine, and LA Times seem like some good sources. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 05:12, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

  • TheSandDoctor Yes, I had considered accepting the second one and I have now since it's enough; the first one, although significant, would still benefit from additional significant news. Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 05:28, 9 April 2017 (UTC)
Thank you so much for your help so far. I do my best not to bug others with questions regarding reviewing as I do not want to make it seem that I am trying to get others to do my work for me or something like that (which I am not) but if I am unsure I either skip over it or ask for a second opinion. You seem knowledgeable regarding reviewing and that is why you are one that I ask for second opinions (among a couple others) - I hope that is okay by you? Also, I went ahead and denied the first one per your advice with a custom declining reason explaining that, while it is notable, more significant and reliable citations/references would help. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 05:34, 9 April 2017 (UTC

Hi again David. Thank you for the quick reply. I've tried to use as many as independent and big sources as possible. One of them is the DailyMail tabloid newspaper, (it's not an ad), the other one is a governmental institution (Ombudsman, who controls all marketing activities around the country), as well as 3 big institutions and organizations which are organizing e-commerce events in a high level with big profiles (which i witnessed and was part of the E-ecommerce events). As well as different big payment/solution provider companies who are talking about Chiquelle and recognizing the company and her activities. And a variety of articles written (which are not ads) by different newspapers all over, about the growth and success of the company. What more can you suggest me to add? When i search for Chiquelle on google and elsewhere, i can find a lot of information about them and the ecommerce world. Even video's of influencers or famous people with over 500.000 views, about Chiquelle. Is that something valuable? Or do you have something specific or tip i can look at? Since i thought that these sources were the highest possible.

Thanks a lot, best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pouya P. (talkcontribs) 11:14, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi there,

I have been very active and involved in the e-commerce in Sweden and Nordic countries and many fashion retailers-ecommerce stores are on Wikipedia, Chiquelle still not, which should not be missing since they have been in the media and in the e-commerce world in Sweden and the Nordic countries many times. I've seen them on different events and winning awards.

What can i add/change to make the text/draft better for publication? Appreciate it a lot. Thanks,

Hi... thank you for taking the time to review the page and my recent edits. I really appreciate it. I'm still not sure why my sources are not verifiable enough. The sources I have are from independent publications, both from the subject's hometown and a couple trade journals. Also, the articles are not self-promotional in nature. But two of the sources are indeed announcements as you pointed out. I can remove these. But is that enough? I do have videos of the subject being interviewed, but these are just short snippets of local TV interviews. Not sure if it would help to post these as sources. If you can let me know your thoughts or offer any other advice, I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Thank you for your review and comments. Can you elaborate on your comments which I do not fully understand

Simply an advertised business profile and there's no inherited from others, sources are only announcements and notices.

I have been requesting clarification in Tea House, the online live help, and on editor talk pages, regarding the definition of "significant" in the notability guidelines without any success. If my company is covered by an independent, verifiable, reputable publishing trade magazine, why is that not considered notable within its industry. The profile was not paid for, is not advertising, but was written independently. When you say "only announcements and notices" please advise what other kinds of coverage would be considered independent.

Hi! I read clicked through articles like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine-segment_display and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixteen-segment_display and realized that the 8-segment version was missing. I only know of one (well-known) product that used it. I would have preferred a combined "segement-display" page with different subsections, but because the others had their own (very small) pages, I created a new one in the same style. So, if the segment displays with 9 and 16 segments have their own page, where should the 8-segment display go? Shouldn't it have its own page as well?

155.56.68.216, I accepted it. DGG ( talk ) 22:11, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi SwisterTwister, thanks for your review. I disagree with notability though, I found 4 news mentions and 11 external references. Similar organizations are https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodian_Center_for_Study_and_Development_in_Agriculture or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodian_League_for_the_Promotion_and_Defense_of_Human_Rights or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Welthungerhilfe, which DID GET listed. I can understand the argument of the previous 2 reviewers that it read like advertisement and removed all information that doesn't have an external source. But now I believe, that the information is relevant and I don't agree with your rationale. Kindly re-check or forward to another reviewer. Thanks so much for your help, Andrea

AnRoCa, to help out I took a look. It basically is still an advertisement. You can describe the organization, but you cannot praise it. You also need to have 3rd part reliable substantial sources that have written published work about it.If you can find them, it should be possible to write an acceptable article. DGG ( talk ) 05:52, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

OK, thanks DGG, I'm working on it. AnRoCa :)

questions realted to your edit on the Logipix draft page made on 17:36, 5 April 2017

Hi, SwisterTwister, thanks for taking care of the matter. I was just wondering why the sources counted as biased and not objective, I found them quite non-biased. Of course I am not sure whether they were paid articles but with most of the cited magazines I do not think that it would be the case. Would you name the reasons why you think so that they are not reliable texts? Mind, it's my first article, still trying to figure things out. Cheers. --Zsombsnow (talk) 10:36, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

Edit of Matty T Wall

I'm a little confused, all the articles posted about reviews of the man's work, the fact that he is being heard around the world, and is currently touring around Australia and the United States. Also TheSandDoctor looked at everything 3 times yesterday and when I finally had put enough sources he said all I had to do was place them properly throughout the article. So now I'm confused as to what's missing. The issue you stated was the first one that The SandDoctor had marked up, and he said I had corrected it when I added the appropriate amount of links that speak about Matty the band, their progression and their influences. DFuzes (talk) 14:17, 12 April 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by DFuzes (talkcontribs) 14:11, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

@DFuzes: In the future, when mentioning me somewhere other than my talk page, please use {{u|TheSandDoctor}} so that I can see it. I would like to clear up that all I said was what was in my two AFC comments, which are as follows:
Comment: While you do have a lot of citations, they are WP:CITEKILL in their current configuration with all of them sitting at the bottom of the draft. Please distribute them appropriately (beside the information that they support) and see WP:CITE and the teahouse for further assistance. TheSandDoctor (talk) 18:14, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
Comment: Please add additional independent reliable sources to this draft. In its current state notability is not overly prevalent and notability is not inherited from anywhere else. Also please note that external links are not allowed within the main body of an article/draft (however they are allowed in a 'see also' or 'further reading' style section). TheSandDoctor (talk) 17:04, 10 April 2017 (UTC)
I do not recall saying anything outside of those AFC comments and the generic declination templates (first of which stated "This submission's references do not adequately show the subject's notability" and second "The content of this submission includes material that does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations.") I apologize if those statements in the AFC comments were not as clear as they could have been. What I meant in the first one (bottom) was that notability is not obvious (I am not sure of it) based on the citations of that version of the draft and that it was not inherited from anywhere else and that external links were present in main body of article/draft. The second (top) comment was made on a different (newer) version of the draft and just stated the fact that there were a lot of citations and that they were not in the correct location within the draft - I did not look further at the notability of them as the lack of inline citations (ilc) instantly 'failed' it. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 16:08, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

Huh?? (Something weird happened)

Something weird happened. A submission that I reviewed (and declined) was just re-reviewed by you a short time ago and I got the message that it was declined? User_talk:TheSandDoctor#Your_submission_at_Articles_for_creation:_TILT_Textiles_.28April_11.29 is the message I was left and Draft:TILT Textiles is the draft. I did have an issue reviewing it and so I resubmitted under the page creator option in AFCH and then removed the glitched submission template & reviewed it. Somehow AFCH submitted it as me being the creator....strange.....anyhow, can I remove the message from my talk page and put it on the appropriate user's? In your declining message on the page I corrected the name so that if someone resubmits it it doesnt go on my talk page again. --TheSandDoctor (talk) 21:36, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Basically it got double reviewed by both of us somehow despite me declining it and the logs not showing that it was resubmitted. So, on further thought, should we just delete the second declining message in both cases since it wasnt resubmitted after I declined it and appears to have been a script error that it was not submitted under the correct name and I did not notice the error or? --TheSandDoctor (talk) 21:41, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
  • TheSandDoctor Yes, it happens sometimes because of the AfC configuration and it may have been worse because I had the page waiting a few minutes before saving while I was occupied with something. Good to know wise minds think alike.   Cheers, SwisterTwister talk 21:43, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
So it is okay to remove the message from my talk page? What about from the draft seeing as it was never technically submitted twice? Maybe convert yours to a comment or something? No sense having two declining reviews when it was never resubmitted in the first place (script error). --TheSandDoctor (talk) 21:55, 11 April 2017 (UTC)
(helping out)It's an advertisement,I listed it for deletion. DGG ( talk ) 05:50, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks DGG. I removed the notice from my talk page since I reviewed the draft and it was not mine (so no need for me to have the message haha) --TheSandDoctor (talk) 16:15, 12 April 2017 (UTC)

I would like to know why my draft article was declined when other articles such as the below have been allowed to be published. I intended to work on the article further, adding more sources and information as I go, but I don't think it's fair that it be declined already when these articles have been accepted. The Johnson Winter & Slattery draft article is no different in providing factual information about a national Australian law firm and has more references than some of the below.

Thank you for your prompt response. I still believe this article should be allowed based on the examples I gave of other similar articles. Johnson Winter & Slattery is a key national law firm in the Australian legal market - more notable than other firms that have been allowed a page. While I understand that your policies may have changed, this now means that Wikipedia is not providing an accurate and factual representation of Australian law firms. Will you be deleting these other articles, now that they no longer comply with the new policies?

Hi SwisterTwister:

You rejected my submission for "lack of notability". I don't know if a musician/entertainer can get any more "notable" than being featured on nationally broadcasted radio programs such as NPR, and on NBC News. Furthermore, being featured on reputable blogs such as The Burning Ear and EQ Music are also significant achievements for any musician.

If being featured on NBC News and NPR are not enough, then please give concrete examples on how a musician is to be considered "notable". Perhaps playing the Superbowl? Winning a GRAMMY? Most musicians and entertainers on Wikipedia pages have not achieved these standards of "notability".

Thanks,

. I do not understand exactly why my sources are not verifiable enough. Is the problem the quotes from the artist herself that I got in an interview? Is that not appropriate to do? As an art historian I have done it for other articles in journals, but I beginning to think that is the problem here as than it not done for Wikipedia. I could certainly take them out. I think the other sources are mainstream. About the "Golden Rule" I read it but did not understand exactly what it was about or how I may rectify how I did not abide by it. Hello. I am not sure how it all works but I disagree with this edit: 21:49, 9 April 2017‎ Huon (talk | contribs)‎ . . (2,211 bytes) (-557)‎ . . @Iwolfson: I may be incorrect (please correct me if so Swister), but I think an administrator would be best suited to answer your question. (cc @Mz7: @Primefac:) --TheSandDoctor (talk) 18:11, 13 April 2017 (UTC)
@Iwolfson and TheSandDoctor: I don't think it's obligatory for an administrator to answer this question, but since I was mentioned, I'll give it a shot. Unfortunately, using material in Wikipedia that was created by someone else is a complicated process to achieve. When you contribute content to Wikipedia, you are irrevocably releasing your content under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License, which is a legal agreement that allows anyone, not just Wikipedia, to use, edit, and make copies of your content, provided that they provide attribution and release edited copies under the same or similar license. Only the copyright holder (usually the person who originally created the content) may release their content under this license.
For this reason, we still cannot use the content you provided in the Arkady Burdan article, even if the copyright holder gives you permission to use it in Wikipedia, because we need the copyright holder to also give permission to release the content under a license compatible with Wikipedia. There are ways that could allow you to submit formal documentation of this, but in my eyes, the easiest and most straightforward way around this is to simply rewrite the content from your own words, thus avoiding the need to ask for permission.
As a side note, as someone who has an external relationship with Maestro Burkan, you may have a conflict of interest when writing about him – this is merely a description of a situation, not a judgment against you as an editor. When an editor has a conflict of interest in a topic, it can be difficult to tell whether what you're writing is from a neutral point of view or could be construed as promotional. I recommend reading our conflict of interest guidelines, which provides some advice for how you can avoid problems when writing about topics for which you have an external relationship.
