Review of page we discussed edit

Copied from User talk:Obsidian Soul#Review of page we discussed for convenience

Hi there, Obsidian Soul (cool name, BTW.) You helped me out the other day on the help autobot when I was confused about why the references on my submission were in question. I've reformatted things according to your advice and the templates you referred me to. Since you commented that you thought my references were actually very good, could I request that you review the submission this time? I would appreciate it since you're somewhat familiar with it at this point. Let me know if this is possible. Thank you for your help. Here is the link to the submission, although please check for the latest revision as I am new at this and still a little uncertain as to the whole process.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/D%26H_Distributing

Note I can't see the citation reformatting that I've done so I hope you can. Hope I've done it right.

Again, thanks for your advice!

Hi, Sue. Good job on formatting the references, but you still haven't fixed the rest of what was discussed in the help chat. And sorry but I must decline. I don't normally review the articles I gave advice on, as I might not notice some things an uninvolved and more objective editor would. But I can still give you advice on what else you need to fix.
1) The article's table of contents is generated automatically if you have created your section headers correctly. Section headers should be enclosed in == and not merely bolded as you have done, please see WP:CHEATSHEET for the basics in Wikipedia code, and compare your article with existing ones to see how sections are treated.
2) A large part of your article's tone is still inappropriate for an encyclopedia. It reads like a brochure. Remember that promotion is forbidden in Wikipedia, please see WP:Words to watch for a rundown on what words and expressions you should avoid. In general, please write formally, concisely, and factually in a neutral point-of-view; even if doing so results in prose that is coldly clinical. Avoid colloquialisms, subjective opinion, "PR-speak", or sentences aimed to unjustifiably flatter the subject or excessive detail aimed to sell something. Such sentences should be removed or reworded. Examples of which are listed listed below:
  • It also demonstrated one of its first exercises in supporting its resellers through economic and other hardships, which has become an intrinsic element of its value proposition through the decades.
  • It focuses on emerging technologies and personalized service, offering dedicated account reps, flexible credit options and value-based programs, carrying thousands of skus from hundreds of manufacturers.
  • Through the D&H Partner Services program, customizable marketing materials, such as solutions-focused brochures, product images and vendor logos, help customers promote their own brands and services.
etc.
3) Though your references are formatted correctly, your article is still not referenced properly. As I said in the help chat, references are there to verify the information you have written, they are not "see also" links but "click here to see where this info is from" links. Every sentence or paragraph in the article must explicitly have a reference that tells the reader where that information comes from.
Once you have fixed those, you can resubmit your article for review by clicking the link in the previous decline template that says: When you are ready to resubmit, click here. Please try to improve the article as best as you can before doing so, though, to avoid wasting your (and the reviewer's) time. Waiting for review can take a few days to more than a week, and that can add up to months if it gets declined for one reason or the other. Cheers.-- OBSIDIANSOUL 03:27, 21 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Dan Schwab DH Corp-3249.jpeg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dan Schwab DH Corp-3249.jpeg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.

To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 20:06, 20 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Michael Schwab DH Corp-3257.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Michael Schwab DH Corp-3257.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:00, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dan Schwab DH Corp-3249.jpeg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Dan Schwab DH Corp-3249.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. D&H Distributing edit

Hi. I have reverted some of your edits to D&H Distributing, as they were based solely on unreliable sources such as newsletters, press releases, material published by partners of D&H Distributing and so on. Please refer to the guideline on how to identify reliable sources before adding more material to the article, as using bad sources only serves to lower the quality of the article. Bjelleklang - talk 20:05, 12 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

I have gone over the article and removed quite a lot of content; some of it based on unreliable sources and some not really relevant for the article as it was promotional in nature. I have also looked at your contributions, and my impression is that you seem to have a very special interest in D&H Distributing. I have to ask; do you have any affiliation with them? Keep in mind that disclosing any affiliations of this nature is required by the terms of use; please see Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure. If you have no affiliation with the company I apologise, unfortunately this is an all too common problem on Wikipedia and we have to combat it to prevent the encyclopedia from becoming just another web directly with no encyclopedic value. Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Suzcommun. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page D&H Distributing, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;

  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
