HI. I respect your FAC reviews. Could you look over my FAC on Scouting. The one big objection was the writing--it was written by several different people is a likely major reason, me being one. I fixed everything they specifically mentioned and have not been able to do much with the rest of it. I'd appreciate it. If you want to leave your initial comments here or my talk page, that's okay, the FAC itself is okay too. I'll be working on them right away. Rlevse 13:16, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

need admin help
editBefore you say anything....I know, I know....if I'd just RfA and be done with it I wouldn't need your help. Anyways...I've been trying to do a much needed cleanup on the Terry Kath article it was riddled with poetic fanboy fluff and in need of a sweeping. Problem is...there is an IP series, 128.100.219.XX(the guy that filled the article with crap in the first place), who keeps rv'ing it back to his own horrible version. I tried to show the editor originating from those IP's a WP:POL link and links the the policies that were being ignored. The response I got was that the article didn't require any verifiability and that everything there was "well known to Chicago fans" and didn't need to follow policy. I can work around his apparent ownership of the article...but he's taken to leaving NPA's on my talk page and is making any article improvement quite cumbersome. Is it possible you can throw a "Semi-P" on that article? The IP user works from several floating IP's all originating from the University of Toronto. Trying to deal with the IP range directly coulod have collateral damage(although all the edits coming from that range so far have been "Pro-Chicago" edits so I don't think there are any other users to deal with. Thanks, cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 03:07, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks! I feel better knowing there are other eyes upon the scene besides my own.(they're old and tired and weary enough as it is) Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 04:24, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Just updating....the IP nonsense is happening again(including a little message on my talk page telling me that I have a curse put on me) AiV is busy. I won't bother posting it over there for now. I can just check back in periodically to see what foolishness has taken place on the article and rv as req'd. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 21:26, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Jim Elliot paper
editSpangineer,
Hey brother, I wanted to ask why you continue to remove my Jim Elliot paper from the External link of this entry? Each time you have removed you have cited a different reason:
1) trim these down (avoid advertising, indirectly related, and non-html links 2) rv addition of external link of dubious reliability 3) POV link that doesn't add anything
First, I appreciate your diligence in watching the Elliot wiki. But I am not sure why you keep deleting the link. It has become a bit silly for me to add, you to remove. The paper I wrote I believe is well documented and accurate. It also adds some reflection on his life of a personal/Christian nature which may be of use to some.
If you feel the paper is erroneous or dubious, please advise as I would like to correct it. Thank you, Reid Monaghan ReidMonaghan 22:06, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
Spangineer,
I welcome your vote on a proposal to allow the fair use of promotional photographs of living people. If the opportunity arises please take the time to spread the word on this poll. It would be great to get as many people as possible to vote (either for or against).
Dannii Minogue article
editHello again. I recently completed work on the Dannii Minogue article and would like to bring it to FA status. I was wondering if you could go through it like you did for the Eric Bana article, correcting my prose, etc. Thank you so much in advance. =) -- Underneath-it-All 19:50, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Why did you reject my entry for Sol Stein?
editHi,
I tried to enter a bio today for my father, Sol Stein, which is factual, but you rejected it as blatant advertising. I'm not sure what I need to do to make it acceptable. Please advise.

Operation Auca article
editCongratulations to you, Spangineer, and all others associated with the excellent Operation Auca feautured article. – Agendum 11:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Yes, most certainly! The article is really interesting, and very well written; it was a pleasure to read. Congratulations! -- Natalya 15:50, 8 January 2007 (UTC)
Operation Auca and Christian martyrs
editHi Spangineer. I noticed you removed the category "Christian martyrs" from Operation Auca for being inaccurate. I find this surprising considering the section of the article on the event's Christian legacy. It begins with the statement, "Among evangelical Christians, the five men are commonly considered martyrs and missionary heroes." In what way is the category Christian martyrs inaccurate? editEelh. I don't know much about that. But my guess is that there's somewhere that has an archive or whatever, but I don't know. Sorry. If you have any questions, please contact me at my talk page. Ian Manka 02:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
Need your help
editCould you Semi-Pro the Terry Kath and List of Stratocaster players articles. I've been having huge amounts of trouble with an IP range based out of the University of Toronto who is fancruft pushing POV into those articles. I have tried in vain to maintain a civil conversation(across several IP talk pages in the range) and help the user to under Wikipedia policy. No matter how many links to whatever policy I provide, the user feels himself(and his articles of choice) are above following policy and edit guidelines. It has turned into an extreme case of WP:OWN vio. The persistent breach of WP:CIVIL on my talk from the IP has gone to the point where I almost wouldn't mind having a Semi-Protect put on my talk page as well.(something I have done in a year here and something I never wanted) Could you provide some assistance...please. An IP block would be OK but it's a range of IP's. Albeit the only edits coming from this IP range are from the fanboy. Thanks, cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 03:43, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ever ride a white horse? :D You're help, as always is most appreciated!!! The Strat list is going towards a featured list push. a starry eyed fanboy was the last thing it needed. I am about to roll over 20000 edits. What's the admin salary again? :) Cheers, take care and again....Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 04:32, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have tried repeatedly across multiple IP talk pages to reason with the user but he believes he is "above the wiki-law". He said he was going to lobby to have my editing privileges removed. Now I am so scared I can't even finish my tea :D . Actually, I wished him good luck with his lobby :) . Any conversation from the IP on my talk page will most likely come in the "whiny" form. But, as I always do, I will AGF for now that there will be peace for a little while. You really know when to show up at just the right time. Cheers! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 04:47, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

editWow! This copyright thing is way more complicated than I realized. Thanks for the help. I just hope you're able to get permission for those pictures. I think it would really improve the articles. Let me know when you do. Again, thanks! JazzD

While I have your attention
editThanks again for your intervetion the other night. I wondered if you might intervene in another minor "Wiki-trouble area". Check out the repeat actions of this particular IP 194.144.111.210 (talk · contribs). He has been blanking warnings and block notices from his talk page for weeks like it's an addiction. It pops up in my watchlist so often it's becoming almost humourous. Several admins restored the page yesterday, but no one has taken that next big step and put a boot on it. Can you tell if the situation requires it. I'd like to rm it from my WP but 1 am keeping it for now since the user appears to be a marked bv and I usually monitor their activities. Thanks, chers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 16:17, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
about the article of Brasilia,... its pictures you deleted
editHello Mr. Spangineer
It is clear to me that you wanted to damage the article just for the sake of damaging t. Articles from Brazil have been constantly being improved by people like me and have constantly being erased and shut down by people like you, who certainly do not follow the wikipedia spirit.
I really dont care if you block me for improving the article of my town, that will just make me sick of wikipedia and make me tell everyone not to use because its editors are people like you.
If you dont have SUSTAINED PROOF that I havent taken those pics, YOU CANNOT DELETE IT.
If you dont, this just demonstrates the authocracy of people that limit knowledge by their own will.
I am getting sick you of you guys. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paranhos.fabio (talk • contribs) 06:40, 21 January 2007 (UTC).
about warning
editMr Spangineer,
I am not even commenting about your "last warning". It was the FIRST WARNING, not the last. It just states that you are a real authocrat damaging the non-us articles.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Paranhos.fabio (talk • contribs).
Hudson Taylor
editHello Spangineer,
Since it looks like you were the one who began the article on Hudson Taylor, maybe you can help. I realize that this statistic is all over the web - but I am at a loss to verify if he really baptized around 50,000 Chinese. I think that this may be inflated. No doubt that he took part in many baptisms. Do you have a reference?Brian0324 14:36, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I am the main writer of a GA called Wood Badge. I'd like to get it to FA but before that would appreciate the input of fine copyeditors such as yourself. I'd truly appreciate it. Rlevse 12:37, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
What the devil is esperium??? I've nominated it for deletion, but can be convinced otherwise. SBHarris 02:09, 4 February 2007 (UTC)
- Redirects are indeed cheap, but used inappropriately, they cause a lot of confusion (as you see on the plutonium talk page). This is so obscure that even googling it leads back to wikipedia (and to your redirect). This is like creating a redirect (with no explanation) from kryptonium to krypton because somebody once confused the two. Much better to have the esperium page simply note that it was a name in reference to a non-recognized plutonium discovery claim, with a link to the page you just gave me on element symbols. That ends the mystery. A redirect with no extra info, doesn't. In fact, if it works, the redirected person never does discover the reason for the connection, unless you add it in somewhere (which I'll do now, but I really wish you'd make this some other kind of page). SBHarris 02:46, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

editI think using the blatant advertising tag for this article is a bit harsh, but I do support its immediate deletion due to a better written article on the subject that I came across.

editAs the article reads, the subject appears to be a local criminal. Your points are well-taken on Associated Press coverage and the book. Perhaps adding something to the intro to indicate these points? — ERcheck (talk) 04:54, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- I removed the {{notability}} tag. I do think that the intro sentence should indicate the significance of the subject. I've added another reference to the article. — ERcheck (talk) 05:01, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- This reference [1] is perhaps a good indication of notability. The coverage of the incident had an impact on the police and media interactions. — ERcheck (talk) 05:05, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- Your edits to the introduction are great ... the notability of the subject is much clearer. I've moved it to Next update. — ERcheck (talk) 06:00, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

editHello!
editHey, Spangineer, I see you're still hard at it. I did get Wikipedia out of my system quite quickly, a season of 12-hour+ farming days will do that! Just dropping by to say hi. Memories of my Winter of FAC came flooding back when I logged in just now to post a question. I looked at my talk page and saw that star. Cool! Anyhow, take it easy. I'll likely be doing more Wikipedia at some point, this winter was just full of other stuff. Take it slow... --Tsavage 18:15, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
How To Delete Images
editI read the uploadsing instructions and found out it said that photos from search engines are not allowed unless the sources, etc. are citd like you said. So, I beleive the image Image:MariahShades.jpg should be deleted. I will try my best to find a free image and maybe I'll take y own picturesdurng her appearances and upload them. Can Yoy tell me hiow to delete this image please? Thank You. MicP 15:47 5 March 2007
Found Some Images Which May Meet Requirements
editI've found a website that may have images that are eligible for use on Wikipedia. http://www.myspacenow.com/pictures-mariahcarey.shtml has a collection of pictures and it states, "Use the images below to post mariah carey pictures on your site or on other member's comment section. Click on the image that you would like to generate the HTML code for." It has come to my attention that instead of using the statement, "...to post mariah carey pictures on your profile or on other member's comment section..." it says, "to post mariah carey pictures on your 'site' or on other member's comment section." I hope this helps the recent picture's case. MicP talk • 20:49, 5 March 2007 (UTC).

editYou are, in fact, correct; my conduct was brusque and dismissive, and I sincerely apologize. Please do not add commercial links (or links to your own private websites) to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. Minor point
editI re-worded the MJ thing slightly, maybe it sounds better. I kind of think that the fact that he imitated his father's mannerisms and adopted them as his own shows perfectly how much he idolized him as a child and how close their relationship was. I mean he literally mimiced everything he did, even the highly uncommon practice of sticking the tongue out while engaged in work. Feel free to comment. Quadzilla99 16:39, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Picture Lisences
editI Added A couple of new pictures of products such as cds, drink packs, etc.. I bought these things and there are articles on wiki about them. I put them under public domain because I took these pictures myself and cut them down to appraprite sizes. Is this the right thing to do? I mean, I created these pictures of copyright things but the fact still remains, I created them. A quiock response will very much appreciated. Not Notable Question
editHey Spangineer, you were very nice to leave me a welcome message when I signed up a few years ago and was hoping that since I'm still a relative noob in the wiki-world (due to time constraints) you could help me out with something.
My first article, that I created in 2005, is up for deletion for notability (from an editor who came along a year later), but since it's been online lots of other people have edited and improved it. All the sources are cited. I'm currently one of three people arguing on the deletion page, one of whom isn't registered so I doubt any weight will be given to those comments.
I'd like to see if you'd take a third party look at the page and chime in on it so that it's not just a "me against them" two-person wiki fight.
I want to be a part of wikipedia, and if you and the ruling admin let me know that the article really isn't appropriate or good, I'll be glad to let it go... but right now we're only seeing two view points and I think the person who nominated the article for deletion has an impossible to pass standard for notability.
The article is Dekker Dreyer
Thank you for taking a look, it means a lot to me. Wikimegamaster Wikimegamaster 21:45, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Pictures
editI'm glad you like my picture, although I'm a little surprised since it isn't a great one. Better than nothing I assume? I don't think it should be too much trouble to get a picture of Jim Elliot, I've seen a lot of them around. I have seen them apear on websites and they don't list any liscence for it, so I assume they are in the public domain. But if Wikipedia still gives you trouble, you can never go wrong with something like a book cover. Because those are always free. And there are some with his picture on it I think. At least I have one. I could take a picture of it and crop it or something. Anyway, those are all my thoughts, short of actually photographing him... which is a little hard to do now. :( ~ Cpt.
