DYK Nomination for National Convention of New Sudan Needs Verb Change

Soman: The following are the comments on the DYK nomination for the National Convention of New Sudan. You can see that I reviewed the nomination and suggested it was good to go. BlueMoonSet would like clarification of the words "chartered out". I actually read this phrase as "charted out" or I might have mentioned that the words were subject to more than one meaning and probably should be clarified. I also read the sources so I probably had no problem with the meaning because I knew the context. I think BlueMoonSet is right, that "chartered out" will not give the new reader an accurate idea of what the convention did. Also, he interprets "charted out" to be something like "planned", rather than "set up." As I read it, "set up" is what they did but perhaps that is not accurate unless the laws were implemented. I must say I did not read the background material far enough to see which meaning is more exact. The bottom line is that I think you need to go in and change these words in the hook - probably to "set up" unless you read the sources as stating something different. • I've considered promoting this hook a couple of times, but I can't figure out whether "chartered out" means "charted out"—that is, made plans for—or "chartered" as in "set up". • Can you please propose an ALT hook, then, to reflect this information. However, I'm wary of phrases like "fair to assume". Any sources that might indicate that they were? Based on the response from Soman and my limited reading of the sources, I think the following alternative would be both clear and accurate

ALT 1 ... that the 1994 National Convention of New Sudan drew up a civil political administration for the areas held by SPLA guerrillas?

Soman: Sorry to trouble you with this since I was the one who used the words "drew up" instead of "outlined." As you suggested that may be a good word for the hook. Here is the latest exchange on the DYK nomination. I think it would be best if you would also approve this - or suggest another alternative if you have one that might be better. Perhaps "drew up" still has an implication of implementation. Soman suggested the word "outlined." I thought that was ok but it seemed a little tentative. How about using "outlined" instead of "drew up." I think it is still accurate and in line with the sources. I will leave a message for Soman.

Shiromani Akali Dal

Hi Soman, there's a merge proposal tag without argument that Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthik) and Shiromani Akali Dal (Panthic) be merged. They certainly seem to refer to the same group. I was surprised to see you created both articles on two consecutive days, albeit way back in January 2005. I'm happy to merge them, but I was hoping you could suggest which spelling should be used and whether the party is "hard-line" (Panthic) or a "moderate" one "opposed [to]... militancy." I'm still confused over this one. If you see [1], there is one SAD(P) being formed as a split from SAD(Mann) on August 30, 1990 (page 107) and one SAD(P) being formed as a split from SAD(Badal) in 1991 (page 110). Seeing your edit on the said user's talk page, I need to remind you the difference between assassination and execution. All the people in the cathegory you remind me have been executed on a court sentence, and many years ago. The Forward issue was fairly well resolved through AfD, but it just occurred to me that if you still want coverage of the topic, List of periodicals named Phoenix could be a model.
