Speedy deletion nomination of Frances Westley edit

Hello Sjushamillabakka,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Frances Westley for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 00:32, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've listed this at WP:copyright problems instead. Copyright infringements need to be removed, not just copy-edited. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:49, 17 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, can I help? You have chosen a notable person and you created an article. That's not easy. What you haven't got is that we are squeaky clean about copyright. One day someone wrote "potential for impact, durability and scale" and I know that because when I search for it the phrase turns up over and over again. Obviously lots of people are copying this exact phrase and they are sometimes forgetting to put it in quotes. Thanks wrong.... and arguably illegal. Your article contains that phrase. You may think that writing "a capability for scale, durability and impact" is a different phrase .... but is it? No its just a clever copyedit which at least breaks the spirit of copyright. To avoid this you need to rewrite what you have in the article. The best way to do this is read a paragraph, hide it, and then write what you read starting at a different point and putting it in a different narrative. Now I could have just found some text that said what I have just written here, but I didn't. I took the trouble to write this just for you using words then have never been placed in this order before. You can do this too I suspect. Surprise me! Rewrite your article and do it completely. Are you not going to feel great when you see that you have written (not copied) a biography of this woman? You can get more help at www.womeninred.org. Speedy deletion nomination of International Science Council edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on International Science Council requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://council.science/about-us/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Talk:Frances Westley/Temp edit

Sjushamillabakka, I must apologise, I made a mistake several days ago but have only just noticed that I did so. I cleaned up the copyright problems at Frances Westley without noticing that you had proposed a rewrite at Talk:Frances Westley/Temp (careless, I should have checked). The rewrite seems to be free of copyright infringement, so well done on that score! That leaves me with a sort of dilemma: your rewrite is viable, but the content I wrote is (in my opinion, of course) considerably more encyclopaedic in tone. My feeling is that if your version had been moved into place, it would fairly soon have been edited to something like the present version. What do you think should now be done? Victuallers, any comment? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 14:32, 3 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve Line Gordon edit

Thanks for creating Line Gordon.

A New Page Patroller Rosguill just tagged the page as having some issues to fix, and wrote this note for you:

I had to remove some content that was copied from here [1]. Additionally, the information that's currently in the lead of the article should be broken up into sections.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can reply over here and ping me. Or, for broader editing help, you can talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.
