Just realized you are back after almost 6 years. Welcome back! Steel1943 (talk) 19:50, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
If y'all keep feeding me pies, I'll grow so large I won't be able to do anything but edit Wikipedia. Seriously, though, thank you for the warm welcome back. --ShelfSkewed Talk 19:55, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Botched mobile edit

My apologies for messing up the section header at User talk:2405:204:1484:7B0F:F509:D1A9:C3F0:4E1A. I was editing from my phone, which does not have the best interface for editing. I must have fat-fingered a paste when I was trying to select text elsewhere. Peaceray (talk) 15:55, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

No problem. If I had a dollar for every edit that wasn't exactly what I intended... --ShelfSkewed Talk 17:21, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for your warm welcome. I can be more enthusiastic trying to add links to some of the articles. I am a Malaysian who is finding a lot of information regarding subjects in Malaysia are missing and/or ill-researched. It motivates me to add more red links in Malaysia-related articles so more people can expand on those. I do apologise for being less selective initially, but I promise to learn and do better soon. LOH CHUAN TUCK | A MALAYSIAN (talk) 00:35, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Adding selective red links to encourage article creation is absolutely fine. Even better is creating the articles yourself. Happy editing!—ShelfSkewed Talk 02:09, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Hi! Can I add disambiguation entries of heroes already mentioned?

In the article MLBB, some heroes are already mentioned. Can they be added in disambiguation pages? Sorry if some changes I made in the disambiguation pages in the past became an annoyance. Thanks for the help! Dwaynex18 (talk) 14:06, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

@Dwaynex18: If they are mentioned in an article, they can be listed on the disambiguation page, and the article they are mentioned in should be linked in the description. Further guidance on editing disambiguation pages can be found at WP:MOSDAB. And no need to apologize for your edits—they were obviously intended to be productive, and people adding stuff that other people don't know is how this whole thing works. Just keep in mind that creating and improving actual articles is the place to start. Disambiguation pages are meant to be navigation aids to find the articles where the information is. Happy editing! —ShelfSkewed Talk 15:15, 10 October 2019 (UTC)

Please help create a disambiguation page for One Deadly Summer

Could you please help create a disambiguation page for One Deadly Summer. It needs to include these two pages:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Deadly_Summer_(novel)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Deadly_Summer_(film)

Many thanks in advance. Philburmc (talk) 15:41, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

@Philburmc: I'm not sure that's the best solution in this case. With just two uses, there's no reason to direct every user to a dab page to get where they want to go. Because the film article is more heavily trafficked and linked than the novel article, my inclination is to return the film article to the plain title and then add a hatnote on that article pointing to the novel. Is there a reason not to arrange it this way? —ShelfSkewed Talk 18:03, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
@ShelfSkewed: You're more experienced in these matters so I'd go with whatever you think is best. Would you please help revert the film article to the plain title and add a hatnote to the novel page. Thank you. Philburmc (talk) 18:48, 20 November 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Cool 105.7 (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Cool 105.7 (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either

  • disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • disambiguates zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • is a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" that does not target a disambiguation page or page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. The Baseball Cube links

Hello -

I noticed that you're doing a ton of work on updating invalid links to The Baseball Cube entries. I always appreciate an editor who dives into something like this, but I thought I should let you know about a discussion at WT:Baseball about the fact that these links may not be necessary or helpful on our WP baseball biographies anymore. The deal is that sites like Baseball-Reference.com are so comprehensive that all of the Baseball Cube info is already covered there. The discussion isn't wrapped up yet, but I would hate for you to spend time updating every single one, only to have someone come behind you in a week or two and remove all of the links. Larry Hockett (Talk) 05:22, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

@Larry Hockett: Ah, thanks for cluing me in. I'll give it a rest then, for now. Always other things that need doing!—ShelfSkewed Talk 05:26, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

[MLB manager article]

Thanks should I have just redirected it when I saw the table on the list your redirecting to? And to be honest I brought everything over and was thinking I was wasting my time and just taking another’s work. Actually did it because it was the only requested article worth doing. haha and the season just ended so I’m probably to quick on it. Completely appreciate the full explanation since I’m new and had my first article wiped out. And I got to play with the tables and not get anyone mad. Thank you.Theemurman (talk) 01:52, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

@Theemurman: Yep, sometimes a redirect to the appropriate existing article is all that's needed to satisfy an article request. I hope you won't be too discouraged by your early experiences with Wikipedia. Despite occasional frustrations, contributing and editing can be quite satisfying and enjoyable. Cheers! —ShelfSkewed Talk 02:28, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

I Miss You

I disagree. I compromised by putting it under "see also" rather than the main list, but if I hear the words "I miss you" in a song, in a way that suggest that to be the title, I'm going to be looking there. What you did won't help the person doing this search.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:25, 12 February 2020 (UTC)

@Vchimpanzee: Change it back; I won't quarrel. But disambiguation pages are for users who already know the name of what they're looking for and just need the correct link to get there. People on lyrics hunts can go to AZ or Metro. And it seems odd to me to point to one particular use of "Missing" when there are dozens. (How many of the other songs, I wonder, have the lyrics "I miss you" or "miss you"?) But, as I said, do what you want. Maybe you're right and I'm wrong.—ShelfSkewed Talk 20:54, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
Well, unless we have evidence to support your view, mine could be right. I just know when I went looking for the specific song I heard, I didn't see it there. If not for the fact that I heard specific words and could go to a lyrics web site, I wouldn't have found it. I don't go to unfamiliar web sites at home and I just regard lyrics web sites as unfamiliar. I don't do Google searches at home.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 15:11, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Explain

Could you please explain why the typo "Minercaft" is implausible? Plsletmehaveadrink (talk) 21:28, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Why is it more plausible than any other pair of transposed characters? Are we going to create redirects for all of them?—ShelfSkewed Talk 21:32, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Who cares? A lot of people misspell Minecraft as Minercaft. Plsletmehaveadrink (talk) 21:35, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Requesting a small help

Hi,

Some years back you seem to have worked on a song disambiguation page Fight Like a Girl. Just I added one entry "Fight Like a Girl" (Zolita) 2017.

I don't have much expertise in Songs, so please do review if antry is correct or needs any correction , and also if there is no separate article page for Song by Zolita then I would prefer some one takes initiative for the same and may be your self or you can request some one fort the same.

Thanks & warm regards

Bookku (talk) 17:38, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

@Bookku: It just needed a couple minor fixes. Thanks for adding the information! If you think the song should have an article, you can make a request here.—ShelfSkewed Talk 18:36, 3 April 2020 (UTC)

Jay Benedict

I've just found your message about Jay - and replied to it on my own Talk page (sorry - I'm a real Learner when it comes to Wikipedia so I'm sort of making this up as I go along ...).

The answer is that he was a personal friend. I am/was his webmaster - so what I've done is go into the website and turned the first page into a Memorial, with date and place of both birth and death. I probably should have done it sooner, but it just felt wrong and a bit insensitive. Could I ask you to update Jay's entry appropriately, please? I don't have the heart to go there again for the moment.

Thank you so much for this. Mickledore (talk) 11:20, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

@Mickledore: I think the intended recipient of this message is Zanoni, the editor you responded to directly on your talk page. My note (just above that discussion) was about a minor edit from nine years ago.—ShelfSkewed Talk 13:05, 14 April 2020 (UTC)

(The) Brothers...

Hi there. Thanks for cleaning up the disambig page. I was wondering if we could reconsider keeping "The Brothers" (ferry) on that page. While the vessels name is indeed "Brothers", sources note that it has been incorrectly referred to as "The Brothers". Indeed, it was initially at "The Brothers" and thus I didn't know there was an article on the ferry. While it may not be within a strict interpretation of guidelines (I don't know), if disambig pages are about making things easier to find, then perhaps we can have both versions on both disambig pages ("Brothers" and "The Brothers")? Alternatively, there is a redirect via "The Brothers", maybe that goes in? Guidelines are guidelines and exceptions are justified from time to time. :) regards, --Merbabu (talk) 05:18, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

@Merbabu: If the ferry was at some time commonly referred to as "The Brothers", incorrectly or not, then it could certainly also be listed on the The Brothers dab page. The only hitch at the moment: Brothers (ferry) doesn't mention that at all. The name "The Brothers" is nowhere in the article, and disambiguation pages should not assert information that is not supported by the linked article. Add the info about the alternate name to Brothers (ferry), and we should absolutely return the entry to the The Brothers dab page. —ShelfSkewed Talk 05:38, 28 May 2020 (UTC)
Thank you. This makes sense. I do have a reliable source that comments on the use of both names, and can hopefully make the changes soon. --Merbabu (talk) 06:47, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

World (disambiguation)

Thanks for fixing those bad links. Looks like the tool isn't quite working like it should. I'll try to remember to always use the "Skip" button instead of "Intentional link to DAB". -- Fyrael (talk) 22:06, 10 June 2020 (UTC)

Yep, I've seen similar edits in the past by other editors using that tool. It seems to be a persistent bug.—ShelfSkewed Talk 22:11, 10 June 2020 (UTC)
