Disambiguation link notification for April 9 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Secretary, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Proxy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Files missing description details edit

Dear uploader: The media files you uploaded as:

are missing a description and/or other details on their image description pages. If possible, please add this information. This will help other editors make better use of the images, and they will be more informative to readers.

If the information is not provided, the images may eventually be proposed for deletion, a situation which is not desirable, and which can easily be avoided.

If you have any questions, please see Help:Image page. Thank you. Theo's Little Bot (error?) 04:56, 14 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Better source request for File:'Tis the Season cover.jpg edit

Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:

You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Message delivered by Theo's Little Bot (opt-out) 21:18, 22 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Your revert at Wikipedia talk:Redirect and Boqol hore edit

Hi, re this revert and this one - nothing wrong with doing that, but you might like also to take a look at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Baastow1. I think there's a pattern. --Redrose64 (talk) 08:33, 23 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

About that image edit

I'm afraid that I made a mess of things there. I was trying to revert it to the original image because it was changed by another editor and I didn't like the grey background. I had permissions the first time that I uploaded it, not permissions for the image with the grey background. Sorry if this is confusing, I'm not real good with images but the first version of that was completely verified with the correct © use.TeeVeeed (talk) 20:44, 27 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Pioneer investments logo 2013.JPG) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Pioneer investments logo 2013.JPG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:43, 2 May 2013 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:AppFlower icon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:AppFlower icon.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 15:06, 15 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s and 1 "<>"s likely mistaking one for another. Disambiguation link fixing one-day contest edit

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 02:26, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:Albuquerque Convention Center logo.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Albuquerque Convention Center logo.jpg.

Thank you. Werieth (talk) 18:34, 1 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I do not understand what you mean. It is simply a logo and as a result should be fine to use? I have stated that the logo is completely free of any copyright, we own the logo but Gordon Low was the creator. Matthew Jackson (talk) 18:37, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is fine to use, but the file just needs "proof" it is released under public domain. The best way to do this is to send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. Biographies of disabled sportspeople edit

Hi! I've created some bio articles of disabled sportspeople from Turkey, who participated at the Paralympics. I wonder if any guidelines exist for the notability of disabled sportspeople, who did not yet participated in the Paralympics but won medals at e.g. IPC European championships or tournaments. I'd appreciate a hint or brief explanation. --CeeGee 13:36, 4 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for October 24 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Foxton Technology, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page MPU. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

PubMed Identifier redirect edit

My understanding was that, when deciding whether or not to use R from other capitalisation, we consider only the source and target article titles and not any section anchor. The article titles differ in more than capitalization here, which appears to argue against R from other capitalisation.

Did the guideline change? Do you have other independent reasons to consider the redirect unprintworthy?

(Perhaps I should have discussed on the talk pages of the relevant RCAT templates/categories first. I'll get around to doing that in the next few days.) --SoledadKabocha (talk) 06:24, 17 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

It is unprintworthy because the term itself is incorrectly capitalized. As for the particular nuances of the guidelines, I would say that they should reflect that sense. Senator2029 “Talk” 05:32, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Discussion taken to Template talk:R from other capitalisation#Can redirects to sections qualify as other capitalization?; to reiterate one point I brought up there (actually separate from the issue of clarifying the documentation), I am not so sure that the capitalization is incorrect, as this section of PubMed's official FAQ does capitalize "Identifier." --SoledadKabocha (talk) 18:40, 19 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
For the record if you didn't know already, I have also asked at Talk:PubMed#"PubMed Identifier" capitalization which capitalization is officially correct. --SoledadKabocha (talk) 00:16, 22 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

File metadata cleanup edit

Hi! I'm contacting you because you offered to help with the File metadata cleanup drive on this wiki. There are still many files lacking machine-readable information, and many of them can be fixed by adding special markers to the information and copyright templates. Even occasional or small edits are appreciated :) I'm available via email, IRC or on-wiki to answer questions if you're not sure how to proceed. Let me know if you need help!
