G.I. Joe Talk Page

May God Bless You Always!

Hey, I just recently joined the Wikipedia:WikiProject G.I. Joe. I was getting ready to write an article on the character Bazooka when I noticed a problem withe one of the templates. I put the details on the G.I. Joe Project talk page. From your user page you seem to understand HTML. Would you please look at the post on the talk page and tell me how to fix the problem? Thank you for your time.

God Bless, (Steve (talk) 02:42, 12 March 2008 (UTC))

May God Bless You Always!

Thank you for fixing the Infobox. I could not have done it. I like the color scheme, but I had a small suggestion. As I mentioned of the Template page, I disovered are really neat website that gives a complete breakdown on each G.I. Joe Character. This includes the rank like Duke is an E-8 (Army first sergeant). I think there should be a spot be added for the rank on the Template. What do you think?

Yours in Christ, (Steve (talk) 20:20, 12 March 2008 (UTC))

Feedback

I've been working on the stub for Broadcast journalism. I'd appreciate any feedback you have as well as any suggestions for further expansion on the article.Tmac9986 (talk) 04:32, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Flogging Molly

Hey there! Actually, I'm afraid I don't have an external source at the moment. I was at their show in Melbourne on Friday the 11th, and Dave said they were married "4 days ago in Tokyo" and that "it's Bridget King now!" I did a quick search around when I added it but didn't see anything. SouperAwesome (talk) 05:34, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, but I won't. I can't really contribute, as I don't know anything about him. I'm just playing proofreader. I only came to the article because of Jackalopes, I only go back because it's so active. Salamurai (talk) 17:38, 30 November 2008 (UTC)

When In Rome

I noticed that you edited the WIR page and was hoping you can help prevent persistent vandalism. There has been an ongoing issue with the following ip address 86.139.39.20. This user is vandalizing information that was re-established by the Wikipedia team and despite Wikipedia locking this address the user is continuing to vandalize the page. If you can help it would be appreciated. 68.93.99.110 (talk) 01:35, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay. Salamurai (talk) 13:51, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

{{helpme}} I was asked (see above) to monitor the article for When in Rome (band) because of vandalism. There are two IPs - 81.6.233.80 and 86.139.39.20 -- and one editor - User:Evilc100 - persistantly making identical changes, replacing a verified link with a non-existant one, and adding unsourced information, some of which contradicts the band's history. It may be factual, but I can't find sources for it, not even a press release, and of course the website being added doesn't exist (or, I can't access it, from three separate connections). The article needs better sources anyway, which is on my "list of things to do", but what do I do about the existing good-faith "vandalism", before this turns into an edit war? Thanks. Salamurai (talk) 13:46, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

If all three make exactly the same changes, then it's save to assume that they are socks. I suggest you open a sockpuppet investigation case against the user and the IPs, which may lead to them being blocked for sock puppeteering. If that does not help, you can request protection at WP:RFPP. Regards SoWhy 14:22, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you, I have started a case. Salamurai (talk) 15:19, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
This element of "When in Rome" is considered closed/inaccurate.

Start a new section if there is additional concern. Salamurai (talk) 19:12, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

I think you will find that user Evilc100 is now Evil200 and is continuing the vandalism. This person is a disgruntled ex-member who continues to edit his own biography which is in breach of Wikipedias code of ethics 09.25, 8 April 2009 (UTC)~~ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.93.99.110 (talk)

Re: Daredevil (Marvel Comics)

Ah - then that's a mistake on my behalf. The thing is, I saw it as a method of bloating the 'supporting characters' section, when that should more or less go into the main body of the article. Again, my apologizes. Nice work on the citation, though. (: -- A talk/contribs 02:41, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Yikes... my apologies for the late reply. I read your response days ago, but I have this thing where I forget to actually reply myself unless you nag me. ;) While looking at both revisions, I think your revision was better under the basis that it was more clear to understand while still maintaining citations. Great work. -- A talk/contribs 23:53, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

G.I. Joe

Would you look at Snake-Eyes page at the bottom you'll find a section labeled 2009 film with a movie plot could i get your opinion whether the movie plot should be their like that or deleted because some IP keeps deleting it The Movie Master 1 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:15, 29 June 2009 (UTC).

I think there shouldn't be anything about the movie's plot until the movie is out. Trailers are often misleading and sometimes have footage that doesn't appear in the film. Salamurai (talk) 03:27, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
That's why I removed it in the first place. BOZ (talk) 22:34, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

De Clare

I think that the headline "De Clare" should be "de Clare" but I do not know how to edit the article title. If you agree, would you just make that small change. It is shown as "de Clare" everywhere in the medieval, late medieval and modern writings as well and the Wikipedia French version of the de Clare family. Thank you either way. Userpage vandalism

{{helpme}} What should I do about an anon vandal (99.64.34.98) whose vandalised my userpage? Salamurai (talk) 13:54, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Revert it, and warn again with the next level warning from WP:WARN. I have given him {{uw-v2}} and will watch for a little. If vandalism continues after #4 warning, report to WP:AIV, but that's not appropriate here - yet. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 14:06, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

Colwidth

I just wanted to let you know that {{Reflist|3}} and {{Reflist|colwidth=30em}} is not the same. {{Reflist|3}} sets the number of columns, while {{Reflist|colwidth=30em}} just sets the maximum width of a column, and lets the web browser decide on the number of columns based on the width of the user's browser window. --bender235 (talk) 21:22, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, I had no idea that was an option. The change just made it three columns for me. Salamurai (talk) 21:57, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it produces three columns if you have a 1024x768 screen resolution. But imagine if you were browsing with a smaller screen (a netbook, or an iPhone), you wouldn't want to see the references in three columns. Therefore this colwidth option is a nice feature. --bender235 (talk) 23:10, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Needless code?

Hi Salamurai. Are edits like this on Alvin Kraenzlein really necessary? It is generally not needed to make a note of the subject's age at death (the birth and death date is pretty much enough for that!). Another reason I reverted is because this introduces wikicode to negligible benefit: it's actually making the article harder to read in edit mode for non-expert users. I hope you don't mind. Cheers! Sillyfolkboy (talkcontribs) 00:50, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

My main concerns are three-fold: the usage of parentheses within parentheses is rarely a good idea, the actual content becomes obscured for novice editors, and mistakes can easily be made with the differences between the meanings of US and British dates (e.g. 3/10 could be either October 3 or March 10 depending on which way you look at it).
I didn't mean to revert you as some form of attack, rather the fact that using that template mid-article has its drawbacks. I'm not particularly concerned about policies – I prefer to judge things on their strengths and weaknesses. I've absolutely no problem with its use in infoboxes as all information in the boxes should be repeated in the article anyway. Template:Infobox athlete can be used on any athletics biography when needed (see Oscar Pistorius for a good example).
I really didn't mean to offend you in any way. I just wanted to explain the problems with using the BDA template in such a way. Take care. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits)Join WikiProject Athletics! 20:06, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Hello again. Not sure why I'm still thinking about this, but I hope you don't feel affronted by me questioning your edits. Eagles

Hi, Salamurai! Thanks for keeping this ludicrous change from happening (it pops up from time to time); I always like to point people to this when they try to make this bizarre change. If the band members themselves referred to "when I joined the Eagles", and not "when I joined Eagles", it should be good enough for us (and the preservation of proper English). Article P.S. Ayyaswamy

Thanks for your edits to make the article more encyclopedic. I have added almost all the third party references that can be found from the internet in this article. Can you please tell me what else we can do to make it completely neutral so that the tag over neutrality can be eventually removed? Pratanu.roy (talk) 17:20, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

Oh, I didn't do anything but restore some reference content that had been accidentally removed and a little cleanup. I don't know anything about the subject, you ought to talk to Calliopejen1, which I see you did, so you're on the right track! Salamurai (talk) 20:06, 29 May 2010 (UTC)

refs

Fixed. Two refs on the same page with the same name, but grouped differently, and using the same group name. I changed on ref name, I should probably have changed the group names. Rich Farmbrough, 22:17, 30 May 2010 (UTC).

I've been looking at the Category:Pages with broken reference names page and it popped up. It doesn't tell me how long they've been on the list, tho; I also have yet to figure out the time difference on the "history" page, didn't mean to step on any toes! - Salamurai (talk) 19:11, 31 May 2010 (UTC)
Ah, that explains it! I didn't know about that category. Be assured, you didn't step on my toes. I should have edited the whole article instead of just the section for such a major change. – IbLeo(talk) 19:21, 31 May 2010 (UTC)

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:37, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Please look at the references section of the page for the two instances of large red text. All I did was add back in the source named "The_Green_Papers-Florida" that was in one of the sections you removed, which was used in another section that you did not remove. I also fixed a typo that was breaking a ref. I didn't restore any of the sections you removed. If this is a problem, please fix the refs yourself. - Salamurai (talk) 16:59, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

re:Template:Gaborone weatherbox

The purpose of the template is to minimize the size of the page, as well as to facilitate the updates needed. However, before I put it into the articles, I noticed that some other similiar templates (at Category:Weatherbox templates) is slowly being deleted. If it doesn't suppose to be that way, then please go ahead and delete it. Cheers — Tjmoel   bicara 07:31, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
