GA Review edit

Hey, WikiGuy.

Just wanted to give you the heads up about ATL, which is currently under GA review. You've done some good work on the article thus far, there are just a few things that need to be resolved.

Thanks, --Starstriker7(Dime algoor see my works) 00:17, 1 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm taking a look at the progress now. Sorry for the delay, I've just been a bit bogged down recently. I'm going to try to resolve your GAN this weekend. --Starstriker7(Dime algoor see my works) 23:41, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Nice work. ATL is a pass. --Starstriker7(Dime algoor see my works) 23:11, 12 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clean Slate edit

I've assessed the article as Start class. I removed the MPAA rating from the intro as our guidelines don't include those ratings. This is because it doesn't represent a worldwide view for readers in other countries who have different rating systems. For the critical reception section, I removed the Yahoo movies rating since the assessment is based on users who decide to vote on the film. This isn't an accurate representation (somebody could create multiple profiles and vote the film highly/poorly) so I removed it. Instead, I added a few reviews found on the Rotten Tomatoes site to flesh out the section more. Good job on the article and if you need help with anything let me know. Image copyright problem with File:SoManyTears.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:SoManyTears.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 21:44, 17 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hiya Wikiguy,

Just thought I'd tell you I've started the review for your article on Me Against the World. You've done some great work and I just have some annoying nitpicks to poke at on this one. I'll try to help too where I can too.

Cheers! Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:49, 7 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

No problem on the wait! The article can wait as I can. I hope we can work it out to pass it for GA. I think there are more things to fix up since I've last reviewed it, but I'll wait until these parts are tackled. Cheers. Andrzejbanas (talk) 07:25, 21 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Great. I'll check it out from time to time and will make contributions when I have the time. As for now, I suggest we keep it simple and label the album as simply "hip hop" in the genre field of the infobox.–FunkyVoltron talk 16:21, 12 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

The articles you submitted edit

Hi.

The 3 article you placed in the assessment request section lack authorship, with that they can be C, but without it they are stubs, so, you can add it or, if you wait until tomorrow i`ll do it the point is i`ll let them in the section until then. Zidane tribal (talk) 06:53, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Of course, my bad, i mean that you have to specify who wrote the songs, i was going to add it from allmusic but i`m not really good with the track listing template so it would take me a while. Zidane tribal (talk) 17:45, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I rated Dead Serious (album) a C, i would like to make it a B but i`m afraid that with such a small personnel section i can`t; i don`t know that much about hip hop, i don`t know if only with scratching and guitar they get the proper sound, but for a B (even for a C) you have to put down more people, at least the singer and backing vocals. They wanted about.com linked because it was a reliable source. Then they wanted more reliable sources than the ones that i've used which I already changed AND then they wanted minor changes with the lead section which I left alone lol. Georgia Peachez (talk) 12:02, 10 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of 4 All the Sistas Around da World edit

A tag has been placed on 4 All the Sistas Around da World requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a musical recording which does not indicate why its subject is important or significant, and where the artist's article has never existed, has been deleted or is eligible for deletion itself. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for music.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. So where or how would you disambig a song title from an unrelated film of the same name? It seemed sensible to do it both here and at the song itself. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 00:55, 11 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

would appreciate your help! edit

Hi ! I am new to wiki so i hope I'm typing this in the right spot! I'm reaching out to other users for help. As I understand it, I need to track down an established wiki editor to help me rid the first article i've created ("Stone and Stone")of the ugly box that was posted on top "This article has multiple issues....".

I know exactly how these complaints came about. In my ignorance on how wiki works, I gave myself the same nickname as the subject I was writing on and then a whole drama ensued, as it was assumed that I was my subject and that I was writing an autobiography! In truth, I am a huge comedy fan and biographer and was dipping my toes for the first time in wikipedia waters!

Any help or solutions you could provide me when you get the chance would be greatly appreciated! This poor little article certainly doesn't deserve such an ugly heading box because of my wiki-ignorance! Thank you in advance for your time! Comedybiographer (talk) 10:36, 24 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Poison Release Date edit

Hi, is there a reason why [put February 28, 1990] as the release date of Bell Biv Devoe's 1990 debut album against the previously correct one? They confirmed in this video(@1:22) at the Soul Train Awards(March 14, 1990) when their album would be released, which was "the 20th"(March 20, 1990). I ask as there is a lot of vandalism surrounding dates on Wikipedia and I'm trying to collectively curtail it.---Carmaker1 (talk) 10:49, 7 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of File:Drumline Soundtrack Cover.jpg edit

The file File:Drumline Soundtrack Cover.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Drumline (film)#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:46, 10 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October! edit

Greetings!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which have been dedicated to creating and improving content that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. Join us in this global edit-a-thon, by helping to create or expand articles which are connected to this scope. Also remember to list your name under the participants section.

On English Wikipedia, we would be recognizing participants in the following manner:

  • Overall winner (1st, 2nd, 3rd places)
  • Diversity winner
  • Gender-gap fillers

New Updates & Messages For Active Participants in the Marvel Comics work group

  • Current message (25/1/2020)

Greetings to you all & a great weekend. I took the iniative to send this mass message to you all because I observed from the article on Elders of the Universe that certain key members of the Elders of the Universe have no article of theirs and most glaring is that of Gilpertpedon/The Runner. I believe subject has become notable enough for a stand alone article & it would be a great idea for someone in possession of a picture of the runner which is their own work (as to avoid image copyright violations) to begin the article. Then the rest of us contribute to the article’s development.Celestina007 (talk) 14:38, 25 January 2020 (UTC)Reply
