Please check the article Periyachi, I have copyedited it. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:45, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, Redtiger, I checked it. It's needs checking over by a native speaker of English. If I do it, I can't review it (or I'll be reviewing my own work). I suggest that you get a native English speaker to put it right, then I'll review it. Cheers.--Storye book (talk) 15:50, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I copyedited it now. So please check if there are missing words or typos as before. The text is not exceptional, but now sticks to grammar IMO. --Redtigerxyz Talk 15:53, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for making the effort. Sorry, it's still problematic, and it still requires a native speaker of English to put it right.--Storye book (talk) 16:05, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Iravan edit

Hi Tiger!

I can get to work today. My wife and I are looking for a new place to live, this morning, but I am expecting to be able to get to Iravan after that. Other projects are mostly where I was hoping they'd be.

See you soon at the article space! :)

Cheers Alastair Haines (talk) 22:40, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

  • Sorry, Redtiger. I don't read or write Tamil. I only speak Tamil at home, typical of Karanataka Iyengars.--Nvvchar (talk) 10:55, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tiger!
There are excellent sources regarding the text history of the Mahabharata within India.
I will read the review comments before working on that section.
There is a technical difference between "editions" of the Mahabharata in Sanskrit, and "versions" in other languages.
There is an even more important consideration, given that famous Bengali versions, like the Javanese versions, have some very important differences in style.
Text history of ancient writings is rather a specialty of mine. I'm eager to learn more about this aspect of the Mahabharata.
Don't worry, as far as "development of the story" goes, I know the right questions, and I can recognize reliable sources of answers. I'm also very comfortable to report, where it is true, that certain questions have no known answers. This is certainly true of some aspects of transmission of the Mahabharata.
Going out to see Alice in Wonderland with my wonderful wife, who was born ... can you guess? ... how about this? ... she was born ... on Java! :))
See you soon, friend. Alastair Haines (talk) 06:42, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Hi Tiger!
I think the article is already in a sufficiently advanced revision to benefit from nominating for FA already.
As you know, FA is a process, which involves making changes to satisfy all interested parties that FA is appropriate, changes are always needed.
I haven't quite finished with copyediting or expanding a little on Tamil versions of the Mbh. But I don't think my work there is necessary for FA, and can continue, during and after the FA process anyway.
If you would like to nominate on Wednesday, I'm happy with that, and might be finished by then anyway.
Regarding the references: van Buitenen, Sukthankar and Supomo are all cited in full in the Bibliography.
I simply followed your request for uniformity across references, which is why you might have missed the data I normally place twice: once in a footnote, then again in a bibliographic entry.
Alastair Haines (talk) 01:10, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
He, he, you didn't offend me at all. :)
Calling me Alastair on article talk pages is best, 'cause it doesn't exclude others, I agree.
On my page, though, it is me who would be honoured if you felt comfortable with the informal (and easier to type), Al.
I get to call you Tiger, so it's only fair! ;)
Alastair Haines (talk) 06:07, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Iravan#References: 3rd is Buitenen, 4th from end is Supomo. I've added Sukthankar, I was sure I'd included him before, but that is fixed now. Alastair Haines (talk) 06:16, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
"van" in Dutch, like German "von" means "of". It is an essential part of the name, like "Mac" or "Mc" in Scottish names (compare McDonald's). In Irish there is O', like in O'Connor or O' Connor. In Hebrew there is "ben" and Arabic "ibn". There are different conventions in publishing regarding how such names are listed in Bibliographies. There are three options
for Gerhard von Rad:
  1. Rad, Gerhard von, OR
  2. Von Rad, Gerhard, OR
  3. von Rad, Gerhard BUT NOT
  • Rad, Gerhard.
I prefer option 1, because surnames are one word and imply "from the family of". Alastair Haines = Alastair from the family of the Haineses. But it is perfectly fine to think of surnames as two "ideas", the first being hidden in the vast majority of names, but explicit in others. One problem is "van" and "von" are not normally spelled with capitals. Another issue is ancient writers who had no surname, but are designated by where they lived.
  1. Clement, of Alexandria
  2. Clement, of Rome
Very often, in German especially, "von" designates a region rather than a father. The "von" is very much part of the whole name, but not the key part of the surname.
It's your article, and I'm happy if you choose any of the three options above for van Buitenen. Alastair Haines (talk) 06:56, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The problem with Supomo is that the text I consulted was reproduced online, without page numbers. The link is with the reference, and a reader can verify from that link. I might be able to track down a hard copy at Sydney University library, but I'm not planning to visit in the next week. Alastair Haines (talk) 07:38, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Ah! I tried to avoid creating white space, some of that depends on browsers. But I'd agree, any white space, in anyone's browser is out. I would like to work on a solution that doesn't lead to white space, though. Placing those Districts on a map will help readers (and reviewers a lot). It will help me too! ;) Alastair Haines (talk) 14:18, 6 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
I've looked at nearly everything. I have four jobs left: Boons, Kuttantavar rituals, Draupadi rituals and standardising footnotes (which I think I've messed up). I think village names with redlinks should probably be unlinked. I don't mind personally, but villages are not necessarily notable (I think). Alastair Haines (talk) 08:51, 7 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

The Goddess edit

Hiltebeitel (1988) everywhere uses lower case for goddess. He first uses the word in the second sentence of the article, without the referent of the word being explicit. The following sentence makes it fairly, but not absolutely, clear that he intends Kali, or so we must assume, without any other designation being offered in closer context.

Hiltebeitel also uses the word goddess at the end of the introduction, presumably to refer again to Kali, though, as the next section will show, battlefield sacrifices to goddesses are not all to Kali in Tamil traditions.

The Tamil goddess of victory, Karravai, has already been assimilated to Kali by the time the earliest surviving Tamil texts were enscribed. (I might note that Karravai does not seem so very linguistically distinct from Kali, but that is my own point of view, and I'm not an expert on Indic languages.) Hiltebeitel, intriguingly refers to Kali by her association with Durga at this point in his discussion. In other words, he is forshadowing the drift his own argument will take, that the Tamil traditions might be evidence that historic development was something like this:

  1. very early in Indian history men performed blood-letting sacrifices, prior to battle, to a supreme mother Goddess
  2. in some traditions this blood-letting was extrapolated all the way to being a ritual human sacrifice
  3. tradition also came to conceive of the supreme mother Goddess having an avatar as the goddess of victory
  4. this avatar was known as Durga in Sanskrit and Karravai in Tamil
  5. perhaps this happened independently, since it is so natural to develop the general form of a mother Goddess as incorporating a specific victory goddess
  6. in Sanskrit, the goddess Kali later became associated with the victory goddess Durga
  7. Karravai, then, is only indirectly associated with the Sanskrit goddess Kali, but more properly with a mother Goddess native to Tamil traditions

That, I think, is Hiltebeitel's rather plausible hypothesis. He doesn't assert it as fact. He even refers to Mahadevi or Devi Mahatmyam as "goddess" with a lower case "g". Partly, one might imagine, because such a goddess is not the Only Deity in the traditions of her devotees, she is also consort of a supreme male god.

I should probably mention that Wikipedia articles dealing with "primal goddesses" have a good deal of material sourced on books expressing only one kind of opinion, a minority and very old opinion. Addressing this question requires us to do our own research, identifying the existence of multiple points of view in the process. Hiltebeitel, obviously holds a different view, at least regarding typography, to Thomas B. Coburn. The idea that humanity once was matriarchal with a supreme feminine deity has long been dismissed. See Cynthia Eller, The Myth of Matriarchal Prehistory, for an example of a recent anthropologist dealing with some of the issues. Encyclopedia Britannica will confirm that she represents a "consensus" (Britannica's word) of modern anthropologists.

I'll add more about Hiltebeitel's view into the relevant section, so we explicitly include reference to early Tamil traditions of a Supreme Mother Goddess, however, I will also follow his typography. I trust his wide and deep familiartiy with secondary interdisciplinary sources, as well as his great knowledge of primary sources. Alastair Haines (talk) 07:19, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Friend, I'm finding it hard to work out what is meant in one sentence.
"At noon his chariot turns north, a symbolizing his kalappali facing the ceremonial Kurukshetra battle-field and his entry onto the battlefield to die at the hands of Alambusha."
Could this read as follows.
"At noon his chariot turns north, facing the ceremonial Kurukshetra battle-field, a symbolic gesture representing both his kalappali and his entry onto the battlefield to die at the hands of Alambusha."
Please help. Alastair Haines (talk) 17:17, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply
Great! Yes, I worked it out, I think. First he is turned North, for the kalappali; second he is turned to face the battlefiend which is where he is going! I think that makes sense.
If that is correct, then we are done!!!
Great work! Well done! Looking forward to hearing what people think. :)) Alastair Haines (talk) 18:14, 14 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Images in Themes in Avatar edit

Hi Redtigerxyz. Since you asked the question regarding hi-res images in Themes in Avatar, I got a bit perplexed and started having second thoughts about them. Looks like there is a conflict of policies here. Both BM and V&A limit even their low resolution images to strictly non-commercial web sites. However, Wiki does not consider images released for strictly non-commercial purposes to be acceptable in its articles. Still we have lots of such images from BM, V&A and other museums being used on Wiki. May I ask you for a clarification, as well as for for an objective and impartial assessment and advice on the propriety of the use of these hi-res files that I have uploaded: File:Lord Rama with arrows.jpg, File:Krishna_dancing_on_a_lotus,_c1825.jpg, and File:Krishna_raising_Mount_Govardhan,_Bhagavata_Purana,ca_1640.jpg. I do not want myslef or Wiki to run into any issues with them. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 04:26, 27 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Re: Commons query edit

There are two potential copyrights in these images: 1) The original work and 2) the scan/photograph thereof. The originals are, of course, in the public domain due to age. Regarding the latter, the United States has case law (Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp.) which determined that exact photographic copies of public domain images are ineligible for copyright protection.

As V&A is in the U.K., U.S. case law is irrelevant and non-applicable to them (i.e. their statement is not copyfraud; in fact, the U.K. has case law which seems to take the opposite position of Bridgeman). However, because Wikimedia servers are located in Florida, it has been determined that only U.S. law shall apply to files hosted thereon (thus the warning "Please be aware that depending on local laws, re-use of this content may be prohibited or restricted in your jurisdiction" on the PD-Art license). So, the V&A response provided by Cinosaur is not necessarily wrong, it's merely one not supported by U.S. case law (and would thus be considered non-applicable to Wikimedia-hosted files). Although I don't personally agree with this stance, it's not my decision to make and PD-Art tags for these images would indeed be considered valid.

Regarding Iravan, my understanding is that alt text is no longer an explicit featured article requirement. I've also never reviewed it, so someone like Eubulides would likely be more knowledgeable and helpful than I. If you'd like me to check sourcing, etc. instead, I'd be happy to do so. GA for Sharabha and Elephanta Caves edit

Thanks for the Lenyadri GA. Can I also include it in my list of GA? I was out of station and hence could not react immediately. As regards Sharabha, I have also requested Dr. Bloefeld for copy edit. He has already done it. But he has some observations on the last para of the talk page. As regards, Elephanta Caves, I think we should post on the Editors Guild page for copyeidting. What do you say?--Nvvchar (talk) 13:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Looks good. You can add a little more detail about the other features in brief on the emblem pictured, as long as it doesn't go into a detailed narrative. I'll try to look at Elephanta caves if not this evening, over the weekend. Regards Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:00, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

One minor thing. You mention that in the Kalika Purana, Vishnu’s boar avatar, Varaha, had "relations" with the earth goddess Prithvi, who bore him three boar sons, creating mayhem in the world. However you then say "This necessitated Shiva to take the form of Sharabha, to kill the Varaha form. Even Vishnu is said to have requested that Shiva destroy Varaha, unable to control his own form.". What happened to the three boar sons. Were they killed too? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:10, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for clearing that up. Chittorgarh Fort needs a lot of citations. I'll try to copy edit that and Elephanta over the weekend Dr. Blofeld White cat 20:06, 2 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I thought Chittorgarh Fort was currently under GA nomination. I only realised last night that it had already been proposed and failed. I'm taking it easy today. It might not be until Monday that I look at the Elephanta. Elephanta is next to look at for me, I think Chittorgarh Fort needs quite a lot of work still.. Thanks for all the effort in taking it to GA. I did not want to interfere when you were already on the job. As regards, Chittaurgarh Fort, I will come back after I find some good reference books. --Nvvchar (talk) 06:29, 4 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

User Redtigerxyz,

Seems you're a "Hindu".....

Your articles/contributions are valuable, but incorrect, becasue of the use of serious misnomers and incorrect ontological truths. Seriously disappointed with this attitude of yours especially, since our goal is simply "Vedic" and we actually spend time, money to do all this non-profit in the mood of pure Bhakti.

We are a Vedic group and found most information written here, in the "Hindu" style, not suited to the original, Higher ontological Vedic standard. We decline to be accepted in the lower consciousness of "Hindus" - a racial slur by invaders on Bharata Desa.

We have almost decided to launch our own Vedic site for the sake of clarity and purity, seprately online and our books are already in print.

Seriously disappointed with your dominant, controlling attitude. We're not "Hindu", sorry. Tecwrites (talk) 04:28, 5 April 2010 (UTC) tecwrites —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tecwrites (talkcontribs) 04:00, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

We've moved on. Wikipedia seems a good option for "Hindus" with the usual multitude of misnomers and errors...not for us, thanks! The Esoteric and Supreme Vedas, which we provide and that's a high IQ ballgame not for the fainthearted..

Sorry, your edits are seriously low "material" Hindu IQ and disappointing, for a start. Whatever spiritual IQ is present, ain't visible to us......for "spirituality" is a symptom of Higher Consciousness!

Good luck, an upgrade of your own consciousness to Kevalam Uttam Bhakti should maybe, after many Janmas give you a second set of real eyes!!

Your GA nomination of Pitru Paksha edit

The article Pitru Paksha you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:Pitru Paksha for things which need to be addressed. S Masters (talk) 09:23, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Are you sure it is comprehensive enough? Chamba, Himachal Pradesh passed GA BTW. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

OK. Can you help copyedit Bobby Deol. The article is naturally structured in that way as 2000s makes up 80% of his career. There isn't much to say about his personal life either that isn't magazine/tabloid cruft. Dr. Blofeld White cat

The reason I tagged the inauspicious part is because that isn't immediately obvious to a non-Hindu. It leaves me wondering why this is and who considers it so. It comes across as very vague. I think you should at least give short explanation in the sentence, considered by Hindus to be an inauspicious ceremony give its death rites. This would solve the issue. Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:29, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Solved it. What exactly though do you mean by "The scriptures preach that a householder propitiate ancestors (Pitris), along with the gods (devas), ghosts (bhutas) and guests". That a householder propitiate ancestor. I don't understand. Can you reword this? Dr. Blofeld White cat 13:39, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Prose is looking better now one clarification, a who and cite required now. As for Deol, well I don't really know what I can do about it. If you do a google search you'll see what I mean. These people lack decent sources, 90% of those covering them are blogs, fan sites or uncredible entertainment sites. I'm restricted enough as it is with the sources. I'm not sure how it could be improved other than minor copyediting...

Also, is it possible to fin an image related to Pitru Paksha on flickr. If you can find one, even if copyrighted, let me know and I'll request useage. Or it is forbidden for religious purposes to have an image? Dr. Blofeld White cat 15:38, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Two requests have been sent. BTW, if there are any specific photos you want from any of the sets in http://www.flickr.com/photos/ks_bluechip/sets/ ask kas bluechip. He provided some images for Chamba and said he'd be willing to help wherever he can. So if you need photos of temples, villages, rivers or whatever say you are a friend of the Chamba article writers on wikipedia and that you request some images for article use. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:55, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've had a reply. The user said he would upload an image to wikipedia. But I'm unconvinced he will, I guess we'll have to wait and see. oh in seeing photos I see is seems to be a custom for the men to shave their heads during the event. Perhaps you could mention this? Dr. Blofeld White cat 11:26, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

He has posted a pic to me via twitter. I'll upload it shortly. Dr. Blofeld White cat 16:50, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've emailed you the link, it was given privately so I'd rather not post it here, Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:01, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

OTRS is a darned nuisance. I asked him to state released under the following license next to the image. I'll get somebody then to authorise it later if he can do this and display the approved at given date and stamp. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:19, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I reuploaded in commons linking to the permission statement given on the page. I am now just waiting for a commons admin to authorise it to be on the safe side. Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:43, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Image should now be safe. Dr. Blofeld White cat 21:13, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Korravai edit

Wow! I'd love to work on an article with you right from the start. This one might take a bit of work and not be very large, but I'm keen to get the thesis in the references out from Syndey Uni library, and it should give tons of info and more references.

My main concerns are that I have some other priorities first, but I recall that you were going to become busier too.

Let's stay in touch about that article, I'll help you as much as I can, but a bit slowly. But, if I'm able to put more time into it, I'll let you know, and ask you for help with sources and local knowledge.

I spent hours yesterday reading about archaeology in South India, and a lot of cultural material as well. The Sangam poems are something I should read before completing my own thesis, and I haven't read them yet. I will have to read them in translation, though, because there's no way I can learn enough Tamil before completing my work.

Sorry I got so distracted yesterday and today. I'll be back to Iravan very soon. Alastair Haines (talk) 13:22, 12 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Christian meditation edit

Hi, I fixed what I think will help a user in that article. What I did not fix, e.g. ref formats I do not see as making a big difference in the world. I learned a few things in the process, e.g. built the page on Francisco de Osuna. But I think the article is good enough for me now, and any additional effort will not make a difference to Wikipedia readers at large. Thanks for your input. History2007 (talk) 23:40, 12 April 2010 (UTC) Hi, Actually, I am not sure why Wikipedia insists on details beyond ISBN for books. The ISBN uniquely identifies a book far better than anything else, and it can be looked up immediately online. History2007 (talk) 06:49, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I think Author, Book name, year and ISBN is enough. But who am I? Anyway, thanks for your help. History2007 (talk) 17:15, 13 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Please do take a moment to very carefully and thoroughly read WP:SUMMARY edit

Dear Redtigerxyz: Thank you for your FAC review of Funerary art. Unfortunately, in my opinion at least, you are forcing me to uglify the article by repeated and wholly unnecessary cites to WP:TERTIARY sources such as Merriam-Webster's Encyclopedia of World Religions and Encyclopedia Britannica. The reason I am forced to recourse to other encyclopedias — and I want to stress that doing so is clearly unnecessary — is that the facts you have {{fact}} tagged are common knowledge. Think about it: if a sweeping statement is made that takes place within highly populated cities, across an entire century (see the bit about churchyards) during a period of well-recorded history, doesn't it seem extremely likely that the fact would be common knowledge? Please do take a moment to very carefully and thoroughly read WP:SUMMARY, remove your FACT and OR tags, and permit me to remove these ugly cites to other encyclopedias. Thank you for your time and trouble. • Ling.Nut 07:22, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Chhinnamasta edit

I have reviewed the article Chhinnamasta, which you nominated as a Good article. I have cleaned up a few things (consistant references, punctuation in image captions etc) and there is only one thing left that is stopping me from passing the article. Under the heading Symbolism and associations, a sentence starts "A commentator prescribes her worship..." This wording is vague, which breaches the Words to avoid policy. It needs to state who the commentator was (or at least who originally mentioned the commentator and in what context). The reference given for the paragraph, Kinsley (1997, p. 155), is a page not available through Google Books, so I cannot fix this myself. For now, I am putting the review on hold pending the resolution of this problem. - AdamBMorgan (talk) 11:34, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

With that fixed, I have passed this review and listed Chhinnamasta on Wikipedia:Good articles. AdamBMorgan (talk) 12:23, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

non-free 9/11 image in Themes in Avatar edit

Redtigerxyz, thanks for your comments on the FA nomination. Regarding your concern with the non-free image of 9/11 in Themes in Avatar — we have gone back and forth on this one and finally concluded that none of the free images would illustrate the visual similarity accurately enough for the article. However, I have found this image, which appears to be in public domain and will work visually even better. May I run it and its rationale by you before using it in the article as the replacement? Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 08:30, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your reply. However, if this image is free is not so clear. See here Cinosaur (talk) 16:03, 19 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Eurasian Crag Martin edit

I noted your concerns at the FAC about comprehensiveness. User Ucucha helpfully conducted a literature search using archiving systems to which I do not have access. Although he found 172 papers, only three had new material significant enough to merit inclusion (first record of crag martin in Sweden, a parasitic fly in Switzerland, and a flea in China). Does this address your concerns about criteria 1b and 1c? I can't really think what else I can do. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:08, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

many thanks for revisiting. I'll have to do a bit more reviewing myself - i see there's another rice rat at FAC (: Jimfbleak - talk to me? 14:41, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sannaysa and Householder edit

Yes, you are correct in asserting in the Shiva article that sannaysa and householder positions have been mutually exclusive but I qualify it with the adjective, "Traditionally mutually exclusive." But there are exceptions. The seven rishis such as Agastya have been married yet have integrated traditional sannyasa roles such as meditation, etc. Raj2004 (talk) 22:05, 21 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Isn't it weird how perceptions can differ. Did you see this. Jezwells degraded it to start class and thinks it is of low importance to India and has said the articxle is very poorly written. Personally I think he is being a little harsh and even if not GA quality yet is certainly B class and of mid importance in my book, I fully agree with you. it can be nominated for GA once copyedited and referenced fixed. I think he was a little rude don't you? Not the first time, I just noticed it was he who failed Thikse also with some pretty harsh commentss. I think he must dislike us or our editing. Neither articles are written "very badly". He is most certainly exaggerating. I dislike some of his patronising comments as if we are newbies too. He is doing a great job with reviewing that many GAs but no need to be quite like that. Even the article he passed about your temple he was still criticising the writing. Thank you for your participation in the April 2010 GAN backlog elimination drive edit

GAN backlog elimination drives chart up to 1 May

On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, I'd like to especially thank you for your efforts over this past month's GAN backlog elimination drive. It has been nothing short of a complete success, which hopefully results in more expedient good article reviews, increasing users' confidence in the good article nomination processes. Even if you made just a small contribution, it still helped contribute to the success of this drive. Here is what we have accomplished this last month in this drive.

  • 661 total nominations were reviewed. 541 of them passed (~81.8%), 97 (~14.7%) failed, and 23 (~3.5%) ended on hold.
  • The WP:GAN page started at 110,126 bytes length on 1 April and ended at 43,387 bytes length at the end of 30 April (a 66,739 byte reduction in the page, about 60.6% less).
  • Excluding extremes, the longest wait for someone's GAN to be review was about 11.5 weeks at the beginning. (I mistook the figure when I reported to the Signpost that it was 13.) At the end, with the exception of one that was relisted, the longest wait is now at 10 days.
  • 63 different users participated, each having completed at least one GAN, with others also having helped out behind-the-scenes in making the drive a success.
  • The drive started with 463 GA nominations remaining and 388 unreviewed. At the end of the month, we ended with 89 remaining (374 or about 80.8% less) and 47 unreviewed (341 or about 87.9% less).

For those who have accomplished certain objectives in the drive, awards will be coming shortly. Again, thank you for your help in the drive, and I hope you continue to help review GA nominations and overall improve the quality of articles here on Wikipedia.
