I just found out that Elizium23 appealed his block. I have offered some advice, but I am discouraged by the number of topic bans he has proposed for himself. The whole unblock request screams "I cannot set aside my bias on anything". Scorpions1325 (talk) 06:09, 16 December 2023 (UTC)

On 19 December 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article The Oxford Guide to the Book of Common Prayer: A Worldwide Survey, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that The Oxford Guide to the Book of Common Prayer: A Worldwide Survey made historian Alec Ryrie suspect "there is such a thing as 'Anglicanism' after all"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/The Oxford Guide to the Book of Common Prayer: A Worldwide Survey. Abt submission of draft

Can u please explain what wrong have i done in the draft Battle of chikabalapur Seikh ali khan (talk) 17:52, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

@Seikh ali khan: Unfortunately, there were more than a few issues. The biggest issue was that the draft violated copyright by copying large portions of a book verbatim without providing attribution. Additionally, it's evident that the sources used are copied from the footnotes of the text which was plagiarized without consideration to what those footnotes actually reference or what texts they refer to. Beyond these concerns, there were numerous grammatical problems. ~ Pbritti (talk) 18:04, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Happy Holidays. Recently, you've been targeting Syro_Malabar_Logo.png, a non free image used which your request for speedy deletion was denied. This image with the exact same non free has been used before. I'm humbly requesting you to stop targeting this page because the higher authorites have said that this page goes along wikipedia guidelines as a non-free image as a Logo for the "Syro Malabar Church" page. The image is low resolution Phillypaboy123 (talk) 20:08, 28 December 2023 (UTC)

Request for Wikipedia Articles on Historical Metropolitans of Malabar Independent Syrian Church

Dear Pbritti,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to draw attention to a significant gap in Wikipedia coverage regarding the Metropolitans of the Malabar Independent Syrian Church, who have played pivotal roles in the history of the Marthoma community. The following Metropolitans, despite their historical importance, do not currently have dedicated Wikipedia articles:

  1. Geevarghese Mar Koorilose II (1802-1808)
  2. Zacharias Mar Philexenos I (1807-1811)
  3. Geevarghese Mar Philexenos II - Malankara Metropolitan (1811-1829)
  4. Geevarghese Mar Koorilose III (1829-1856)
  5. Joseph Mar Koorilose IV (1856-1888)
  6. Joseph Mar Athanasios I (1888-1898)
  7. Geevarghese Mar Koorilose V (1898-1935)
  8. Kuriakose Mar Koorilose VI (1936-1947)
  9. Geevarghese Mar Koorilose VII (1948-1967)
  10. Paulose Mar Philexinos III (1967-1977) (joined the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and replaced)
  11. Mathew Mar Koorilose VIII (1978-1986)

These Metropolitans have significantly contributed to the rich history of the Marthoma community, and it is essential to document their legacies for the benefit of researchers, scholars, and the community at large.I kindly request your assistance in creating dedicated Wikipedia articles for each of these Metropolitans to ensure their rightful place in the historical records.Thank you for your dedication to maintaining the accuracy and completeness of information on Wikipedia. Your efforts in addressing this gap will undoubtedly contribute to preserving and sharing the invaluable history of the Malabar Independent Syrian Church. Robert Ballagh article

First, apologies that the DYK review has led to extra work, and my thanks for the careful handling. I hope the fellow editor with concerns, with whom I've had a good deal of dialogue in the days since the end of December, will agree to leave things stable until after DYK, and I will sort those referencing issues. I do indeed believe that the points noted are covered by references of which I have had sight and mostly have copies. Now, as an experienced reviewer myself for WikiProject Ireland (I led the drive to rate every article, which a small team of us successfully completed), I wanted to understand a little more about the re-rating of the article. On priority for Ireland, it was rated as Mid by BHG all the way back in 2008, I think due to Ballagh's prominence - he has been described as one of Ireland's leading living artists, and has been on the scene for over 50 years - but you are not convinced? On the B, I thought that was reasonable after the major expansion, having gone over the six criteria areas, but I'd be happy to sort out gaps (after DYK) if you could guide me on the aspects where you consider it falls short. Many thanks, SeoR (talk) 10:13, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

@SeoR: Easy part first: WikiProject ratings are squishy and subjective, so if you feel confident that he qualifies as a mid-importance WP Ireland subject, feel more than welcome to restore him to a mid-importance rating. As for C-class, there were a number of verifiability issues that I partially resolved in some of my edits, but that required the removal of content. Overall, there are additional MOS and formatting improvements that can be made. This is not an indictment of the work that you've done (it's a pretty good article!) but rather just a mark that additional tweaking needs to be done. Thank you for your understanding regarding stability. I was a bit surprised when this article came up on the DYK talk page and wanted to take prompt action to give the article the best chance of running. ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:07, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Crystal clear! After more than 10k ratings, fully agree re squishiness. I will go for Mid for Ireland then, yes. While on quality, flag noted and sure, let’s improve some more before I reconsider B. On the other issue, I hope the editor who wishes to make further edits is ok to wait for DYK, then carry on. Many thanks, SeoR (talk) 16:12, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
@SeoR: Excellent! I hope you don't mind, but I looked at your editing stats–holy cow, you're a rating machine! Glad someone takes care of doing that. The good news for this article is that the other registered editor involved seems welcome to discussion. If you need someone to pop over and offer a third opinion at any point, I'll gladly lend an impartial eye. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
Thank you, and no, I don't mind at all - I've been told my user page may over-share a bit for some tastes, but I like to be upfront about my Wiki input, and I'm happy that stats are public data. Thanks too for the kind words re the rating work; in a way, someone's got to do it, and I started soon after joining, long ago, and came back to it. In going through all the Ireland-related articles, I and the few other hardy souls were able to catch at least some basic issues - but I have since started new thematic sweeps, as there was just too much to do to secure initial ratings for all 60+k content articles to allow too much editing. The offer of a fresh eye is appreciated, and could be welcome; I think the 29/12 editor and I are now communicating OK on both the article's Talk page and their personal one, but there was some little issue at first, and if there are further slips in the discussion, I'll reach out. For now, I think we're all approaching this in a good way. SeoR (talk) 19:40, 3 January 2024 (UTC)

Draft:List of Neo-Latin authors

Hi there, could you take a look at the intro to Draft:List of Neo-Latin authors and let me know if the introduction is near what you think is wanted? If so I will find references for what I've added. If not, it would be great to know a bit more about what is needed here. Jim Killock (talk) 21:34, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

@JimKillock: I'll try to take a look at this sometime late Thursday. Thank you! ~ Pbritti (talk) 15:27, 16 January 2024 (UTC)
@Jim Killock: I would not approve this draft. Unfortunately, much of it remains unreferenced. In particular, mentions of individuals without English Wikipedia articles that could satisfy the verifiability policy need citations. ~ Pbritti (talk) 14:35, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi there, sure, thank you. I understand the names in the list will need references (a lot of work of course). What I'm after is advice about the introduction text. I found it hard to understand what is required here. Jim Killock (talk) 01:24, 5 February 2024 (UTC)
@Pbritti ping in case you missed this Jim Killock (talk) 17:45, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
@JimKillock: I did, apologies! I'll be freer tomorrow evening EST so anticipate replies then! ~ Pbritti (talk) 17:46, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

@JimKillock: I say you give the draft one final look over and then resubmit it! It looks like it's in a good enough state for me to approve it! ~ Pbritti (talk) 16:56, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks very much, I'll do some more citation-adding and then push it back. Jim Killock (talk) 20:48, 12 February 2024 (UTC)

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer   Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. Editor reflections response

Hey, I was reading the editor reflections from Clovermoss, and saw your reflection: "only to find I was either unimpressed with my own work or, when I do like something I make, watch as nobody reads it or refines it further." -- have you considered joining a WikiProject or working on high visibility articles? You are doing some good work already: Campus of the College of William & Mary, and I can imagine you doing plenty of wonderful work in other places -- for example, I recently called called in to work on Cereal and Book, and they were super rewarding and focused :) Sadads (talk) 15:41, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

@Sadads: Thank you for the very touching and supportive reply. I've been feeling a bit better about the project the last couple weeks, largely because of a variety of very positive, unprompted interactions, largely with admins. Your suggestions about refocusing some of my editing efforts is an interesting one that I'll consider. It'll require more of me in some ways, and perhaps that growth could prove useful. Again, thank you for your thoughtful reply, and please always feel welcome to ping me about anything (particularly since you list yourself as a fellow Virginia resident!). ~ Pbritti (talk) 17:16, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Glad you are feelinh better! I no longer live in Virginia, but grew up in the DC area! But something I have learned is that we always need to remember the quirky little obsessions that keep us involved in the wikis. Sometimes just spending time on the most potentially impactful stuff can have its own rewards Sadads (talk) 18:53, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Hebrew Word yada

Are my sources being contested? Most published Bible translations do use the Strong's Concordance as a Hebrew-English dictionary source. Peer reviewed literature was also cited along with direct quotations and references to footnotes from well respected Bibles. The meaning in Hebrew is relevant as patristic sources - Papias, Bishop of Hierapolis (early 2nd century), Irenaeus, the Bishop of Lyons (c. 120 – c. 200), Origen (c. 185 - c. 254), and Eusebius, bishop of Caesarea (c. 260 - c. 341) - report that the Gospel of Matthew was originally written in Hebrew. 2601:248:4400:1250:10FB:6B62:C316:4831 (talk) 02:22, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Ok, but you have to make the relationship to the subject clear using the content of those sources. Also, be sure to log in next time you edit. ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:00, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

History of Christianity

Hello! I am Jenhawk and I recently saw a comment from you on the peer review for this article. I have completed all - I hope - the requested redo's on it and wondered if you might like to take a look. No hard feelings if it's no longer of interest to you, but I would also be very grateful if you decided to do so. Thanks, Jenhawk777 (talk) 21:40, 25 February 2024 (UTC)

@Jenhawk777: I'll swing by! Thank you for letting me know. The next week is going to kinda suck for me in my professional life (this is what counts as "busy season" for us), so I apologize if my comments don't arrive until next weekend. I want to devote time to any reviewing I do—this is a very important article and your efforts to transform it are nothing short of remarkable! ~ Pbritti (talk) 21:44, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you! I am glad you are willing to take time to do a good job, I really value that, so you take whatever time you need. Nothing is happening right now anyway. I think spring is busy for everyone - it is for me as well - so please, truly, don't worry about how long you might take. I'll just be thankful when you get there!
I am so grateful for the compliment too. This article has been very difficult for a long time now - 2 years I've been working on it. I've been advised to make the article more concise, to cut everything non-essential and remove all detail possible, because it was too long to ever go FA. Then the peer review said it wasn't comprehensive enough and needed more detail. I added what was asked for, but it is now 1000 words longer. I am still trying to shorten everything.
I can answer the two questions you posted if you like, or we can just wait till you get there. Whatever else, in real life or here, hang in there and remember my personal motto: "Illegitimi non carborundum". . Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:05, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your kindness, @Jenhawk777:! That is a great motto. You've been tackling a very difficult task for a while now, so I would prefer not to ask you to answer questions when I don't really have the mental space to engage with you on them. If you'd prefer, I'd love to help you with this article in whatever way I can outside of the PR process. I have access to/own a lot of premier survey-level scholarship on Christian history and would love to offer any tweaks/additions/summarizations that you might want done by another pair of eyes. Keep up the stellar work and just drop a ping if you ever want help with something. Best, ~ Pbritti (talk) 22:12, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
Bless you. Thank you. When you read and tell me what your expertise says needs fixing, that will be all the help I need. I studied world religion, philosophy and ethics. History is an avocation, but I am only reasonably well read in Christianity's early years and Antiquity. The Middle Ages is a great black hole of ignorance. I tried to do what seemed like good research, but the other reviewers hated it. I did what they said - got about a dozen new sources that were overview histories - found the same material stated in different ways, rewrote it accordingly with better sources, and hopefully that will fix it. We'll see when you get there. I will appreciate any and all help. Jenhawk777 (talk) 22:21, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
There is ongoing discussion at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/History of Christianity/1 Jenhawk777 (talk) 20:11, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
The page has now been moved to History of western Christianity in hopes of resolving issues over western pov. Hopefully that will close the reassessment too. Jenhawk777 (talk) 17:59, 4 March 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 March newsletter

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.

The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:

In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to   Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.

Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. RFA2024 update: no longer accepting new proposals in phase I

Hey there! This is to let you know that phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship (RfA) review is now no longer accepting new proposals. Lots of proposals remain open for discussion, and the current round of review looks to be on a good track towards making significant progress towards improving RfA's structure and environment. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given us their idea for change to make RfA better, and the same to everyone who has given the necessary feedback to improve those ideas. The following proposals remain open for discussion:

  • Proposal 2, initiated by HouseBlaster, provides for the addition of a text box at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship reminding all editors of our policies and enforcement mechanisms around decorum.
  • Proposals 3 and 3b, initiated by Barkeep49 and Usedtobecool, respectively, provide for trials of discussion-only periods at RfA. The first would add three extra discussion-only days to the beginning, while the second would convert the first two days to discussion-only.
  • Proposal 5, initiated by SilkTork, provides for a trial of RfAs without threaded discussion in the voting sections.
  • Proposals 6c and 6d, initiated by BilledMammal, provide for allowing users to be selected as provisional admins for a limited time through various concrete selection criteria and smaller-scale vetting.
  • Proposal 7, initiated by Lee Vilenski, provides for the "General discussion" section being broken up with section headings.
  • Proposal 9b, initiated by Reaper Eternal, provides for the requirement that allegations of policy violation be substantiated with appropriate links to where the alleged misconduct occured.
  • Proposals 12c, 21, and 21b, initiated by City of Silver, Ritchie333, and HouseBlaster, respectively, provide for reducing the discretionary zone, which currently extends from 65% to 75%. The first would reduce it 65%–70%, the second would reduce it to 50%–66%, and the third would reduce it to 60%–70%.
  • Proposal 13, initiated by Novem Lingaue, provides for periodic, privately balloted admin elections.
  • Proposal 14, initiated by Kusma, provides for the creation of some minimum suffrage requirements to cast a vote.
  • Proposals 16 and 16c, initiated by Thebiguglyalien and Soni, respectively, provide for community-based admin desysop procedures. 16 would desysop where consensus is established in favor at the administrators' noticeboard; 16c would allow a petition to force reconfirmation.
  • Proposal 16e, initiated by BilledMammal, would extend the recall procedures of 16 to bureaucrats.
  • Proposal 17, initiated by SchroCat, provides for "on-call" admins and 'crats to monitor RfAs for decorum.
  • Proposal 18, initiated by theleekycauldron, provides for lowering the RfB target from 85% to 75%.
  • Proposal 24, initiated by SportingFlyer, provides for a more robust alternate version of the optional candidate poll.
  • Proposal 25, initiated by Femke, provides for the requirement that nominees be extended-confirmed in addition to their nominators.
  • Proposal 27, initiated by WereSpielChequers, provides for the creation of a training course for admin hopefuls, as well as periodic retraining to keep admins from drifting out of sync with community norms.
  • Proposal 28, initiated by HouseBlaster, tightens restrictions on multi-part questions.

To read proposals that were closed as unsuccessful, please see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review/Phase I/Closed proposals. You are cordially invited once again to participate in the open discussions; when phase I ends, phase II will review the outcomes of trial proposals and refine the implementation details of other proposals. Another notification will be sent out when this phase begins, likely with the first successful close of a major proposal. Happy editing! theleekycauldron (talk • she/her), via:

Ron DeSantis transfer of Miami murderer to Italy

Why do you move the Ron DeSantis transfer of Miami murderer out of DeSantis page? Teltx (talk) 22:25, 17 March 2024 (UTC)

@Teltx: Because it is a relatively minor element of DeSantis's life but an encyclopedically relevant aspect of the governorship of Ron DeSantis (where I added it). ~ Pbritti (talk) 03:13, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
Then DeSantis page should be empty because most of the topics are about his policy as governor. Also this is not minor, it's a relevant political fact at federal and international level as it was asked by Biden and Italian prime minister Meloni, and DeSantis cited "national interests" for it. It also matters for the jurisdiction of US and Florida as it's the first time in History that a LWOP life sentence without parole detainee is transfered and therefore released from jail as in Italy 24 years is the maximum sentence Teltx (talk) 06:27, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
@Teltx: Please stop adding that to the article, what you're doing is called edit warring. If you add content and it is removed quickly, typically that means you should go to the article talk page (Talk:Ron DeSantis, not here). It is up to you to convince other editors to agree with you on adding that content (more info is available here on how you can make that process work). Additionally, please note that the Italian-language article doesn't even mention DeSantis. This isn't really that relevant to him. You're fairly new to Wikipedia, so please take my word for it when I say that this fits far better at Governorship of Ron DeSantis, where the content has already been added. ~ Pbritti (talk) 11:57, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
