Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Your contributed article, Abortion (General)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Abortion (General). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Abortion. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Abortion – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Ruby Murray 17:33, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

I have deleted this as an effectivly duplicate article, and a fork of Abortion. Note that Abortion already covers both spontaneous and induced abortions. If a spin-out article or other related article is warranted, please discuss on Talk:abortion or some other appropriate talk page first. If you want a copy of the deleted text to use as a source for suggested improvements to Abortion or for other article building purposes, please let me know and I will place a copy in a user-space subpage for you, or email you the wiki-text (source). DES (talk) 17:59, 6 February 2014 (UTC)

The rationale for the article was to have a page on abortion in general given the main focus on the abortion article is on induced abortions, with all but one subsection on spontaneous abortion and no subsections that deal with the term in the general sense... there is a discussion on in the abortion section where it was proposed to have an article on abortion in general.. and after noting the terms sourced for abortion only use the term to describe both induced and spontaneous abortion is used primarily in medical dictionaries and encyclopedias and the other dictionaries defined it as induced.. i created this article in response to that suggestion... Thank you!! I'm still getting the hang of wiki... I'm gonna try to add back the old stuff and archive!!! and thanks for reviewing the template page!!! I hope it comes in handy!Nickmxp (talk) 01:10, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Don't remove the archive box as you did earlier, now the bot can't archive. Just a heads up! ///EuroCarGT 01:55, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Oh... I just saw two archivve boxes.. the second one seemed redundant... can it be hidden?Nickmxp (talk) 02:01, 4 February 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I just did so. ///EuroCarGT 02:04, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
Well didnt work ill find a way! ///EuroCarGT 02:08, 4 February 2014 (UTC)
If I am reading the documentation on the archive box correctly, it would seem as though the box itself doesn't do the archiving. but rather just displays pages already archived... it would seem the use of an archive bot is needed for automatic archiving.. is this correct?Nickmxp (talk) 01:54, 5 February 2014 (UTC)
Just read your post, notice you're having trouble archiving.
First off, fixed the duplicate {{talkpage}} archive thing by changing {{Talkpage}} to {{Talkpage|noarchive=yes|search=no}}.
Second, you are correct, the {{archives}} thing just shows existing archives, and the talk header will display the "search archives" thing. As for automated archival, this page explains how (I see you don't have it set up yet). You did figure out how to do it by hand, though, good job!
There are two archive bots, no real difference between them (I guess they just balance the workload): lowercase sigmabot III and ClueBot III. I usually use Cluebot III, but they're not that different. You also have two options on how to archive your pages:
  • incrementally (numerically): User talk:Nickmxp/Archive1, /Archive2, etc. Instructions
  • or by date: /2014, /January 2014, /Jan-Mar 2014, etc. Instructions
Generally people don't archive pages unless there are more than 20 sections or so, but there are no restrictions or anything. I can help you with setting up the bot if you like, or you can continue by hand.
A couple tips: to get someone's attention, ping their name by linking to it with {{User}} ^{{User link}}. The system will automatically notify them, and you can get a faster response (it shows up as "Nickmxp mentioned you on User talk:Nickmxp..."). You can also place {{Talkback}} on their talkpage. Also, to help make threads readable, indent your posts with colons :

Argh! Confused {{User}} with {{User link}} there. *Shakes head* Told you the wrong thing.   Wikipedia:Notifications#Notification events gives more info on all the different ones available. Wish they weren't so similar...
