AfD nomination of Stephenville Mall edit

An editor has nominated Stephenville Mall, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Stephenville Mall and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Speedy deletion of Starliner edit

A tag has been placed on Starliner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Radio stations edit

There is no need for a radio station's URL to be textlinked as "official site" or a repetition of the URL itself. The name of the website (either the station's call sign or its brand name) is what's supposed to show up in the weblink, not "official site" or "www.whatever.com". Bearcat (talk) 19:42, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

When you're updating radio station articles, could you also add {{RecnetCanada|(call sign)}} under external links if it isn't already there? It's a relatively new template that hasn't been added to all of our radio articles yet. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 20:21, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

USEYOURNAME Greetings and Welcome! I noticed that your Username shows up red when you post an edit -- in case you were wondering why, this is because your userpage is devoid of content. If you were to place anything at all on your userpage (text, photographs, etc.), your username would then appear blue by default. By convention, most serious contributing editors place information about themselves on their userpages, and as a result, editors whose usernames are still red may appear to other editors as lacking a serious motivation in both editing Wikipedia articles as well as joining the Wikipedia community at large. I therefore recommend that you place something on your userpage, such as information as to where you live or what your hobbies are. You can check out other editors' userpages to get an idea of what is normally included (find them easiest by checking the history tab on randomly chosen yet substantial articles), and even copy/paste from their userpages (modifying the information to reflect your's, of course). CFMU-FM edit

Just out of curiosity, you just edited the article CFMU-FM and added "callsign meaning Coming From McMaster University". Do you have a source for this? I'm asking because I've been there on and off since 1988 and never heard that the callsign had a "meaning". AllGloryToTheHypnotoad (talk) 15:04, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well, many Canadian radio/TV station call letters that begin with "CF" stand for "Coming From", like CFCB AM 570 in Corner Brook, NL ("Coming From Corner Brook"), CFSX AM 870 in Stephenville, NL ("Coming From Stephenville X(Cross)ing"), CFGN AM 1230 in Port aux Basques, NL ("Coming From the Gateway to Newfoundland"), CFDL-FM 97.9 in Deer Lake, NL ("Coming From Deer Lake"), etc. Mrceleb2007 (talk) 18:56, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is there a source for that? What is it based on? I mean, The 'C' in the call-sign is there because it's a Canadian station (as opposed to K or W for the west and east US). And I know for the second letter in the call-sign, there's only a few that can be assigned to Canadian stations (F, G?, H, I, J, K). So the "coming from" seems just to be a "happy coincidence". I can accept that the "MU" in CFMU stands for McMaster University (the same way the "KDS" in CKDS stood for Kenneth David Sobol, i.e. the owner asked for it), but I'm skeptical that the first 2 letters of the call sign actually stand for "coming from" except in an accidental sense. They certainly don't officially stand for that, as far as I know. And, like I said, I'm from CFMU and hadn't heard of it. AllGloryToTheHypnotoad (talk) 22:22, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

That's right. The "coming from" is a happy coincidence, so the "coming from" means the radio station is coming from a certain place, OK? Mrceleb2007 (talk) 22:25, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

CKSA and CKRD edit

Nice dab work, and always gratifying to see someone putting the {{callsigndis}} template to work. If you don't mind a couple of friendly requests:

  1. When you're creating a dab page, the only links should be to the terms that you're dabbing, in this case the radio or TV station. You shouldn't link the city/province/country. Only exception would be if the article for the station didn't exist yet, in which case the redlink needs to be accompanied by a bluelink of some kind.
  2. Doesn't look like you have yet, but if you're creating a dab page that's a mix of call signs and other items, use {{disambig|callsign}}. That'll apply the standard disambiguation template, but it'll also include the page in Category:Broadcast call sign disambiguation pages.
  3. Please add {{DisambigProject}} to the talk page.

Otherwise, please keep on keepin' on! Mlaffs (talk) 04:54, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

A Person Undoing Edits of Mine edit

Hey Mrceleb2007,

I just wanted to inform you of a wikipedia user who I have had an issue with in the past has started once again to undue my edits. As you know, I try to be a very good and accurate editor not on a variety of articles. It seems like anything I have edited today, this person has removed the lists that have been there for a very long time. This person is trying to get me to revert these edits, so they can block me again. I would really appreciate if you could look into this matter for me. I am very stressful person and this situation is starting to really stress me out. This person has not been around since October and all of a sudden as of today they're back again. I'd swear they have it out for me. The four pages are WLS-TV, WBBM-TV, Entertainment Tonight, and Access Hollywood that have been reverted as of today. I know you have nothing to do with the situation, but since you are such a good administrator I figured I could use your outside assistance. Thanks. TVFAN24 (talk) 22:27, 21 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

The Running Man (1987 film) edit

A tag has been placed on The Running Man (1987 film), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you believe that there is a reason to keep the redirect, you can request that administrators wait a while before deleting it. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
I don't see how a reader could be searching for "The Running Man (film) and screw up the search by typing "The Running Man (1987...". The search result for the article would appear before this redirect ever would appear, IMO. UnbelievableError (talk) 02:52, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

How about a disambiguation page for The Running Man (film)? Mrceleb2007 (talk) 03:07, 25 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Looks like the CSD was denied as "not an implausible search term". My thought was that it would become implausible that the reader would continue typing in the search box after the main article appeared in the results. Meh.
With respect to disambiguation, according to WP:2DAB, it wouldn't be necessary but it would be harmless. - UnbelievableError (talk) 00:37, 26 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

June 2015 edit

Your recent editing history at Template:Lists of box office number-one films shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you get reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. re: Jesse Johnson, musician edit

I have some questions with your edits to Jesse’s life information. It says he was born June 1, 1960. If that is accurate some of the other information is incorrect. In 1973 - 1974 school year I was in in 9th grade at Franklin Junior High School in Rock Island, IL. Jesse and I were in a drafting class together. That would have made him 13 years old living in Rock Island. Not 16 years old. In the Spring of 1974 he would walk through our track practice with a guitar slung on his back going to band practice. So again, he would have been 13 and already playing guitar, not 15. I thought he and I are the same age since we were in class together, so that would mean he was born in 1959. We could have had 8th and 9th graders in the same class. I just do not remember. If he was born in 1959 as I was then he was back in Rock Island and already playing guitar when he was 14. July 2020 edit

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Regis Philbin, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. General Ization Talk 03:47, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at Deaths in 2020, you may be blocked from editing. General Ization Talk 03:48, 26 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

No cited source states that Philbin died of heart disease, while at least one source states explicitly that he died "of natural causes" (which is quite reasonable at 88). Did he have heart issues? Sure, but we do not state a specific cause of death without citing a reliable source which does so. Many people who die of natural causes experience heart failure in the process of doing so. Short description edit

I notice you are increasing the length of a number of short descriptions in NFL seasons. I'd like to bring WP:SDFORMAT to your attention; be short – no more than about 40 characters (but this can be slightly exceeded if necessary). If you look at the examples of use at the top of the page, you can see that it's intended use makes long descriptions useless - trying to perfect grammar is a lost cause if you'll end up chopping off the description in mid-word. Short descriptions edit

Hi @Mrceleb2007, I've noticed you've been substantially extending the length of some article short descriptions. Please note (as per WP:SDLENGTH) that short descriptions should be short, ideally under around 40 characters. As such, longer descriptions such as "American businessman, entrepreneur and billionaire; co-founder of the Little Caesars pizza chain" (97 characters) can actually get cut off in the user interface and as such it's counterproductive to set longer descriptions. I've reverted a couple of the ones you changed, but I'd encourage you to see if we can condense the short descriptions to the minimum length necessary. Thanks! stwalkerster (talk) 23:30, 5 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Mike Hasenfratz edit

The article Mike Hasenfratz has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Subject lacks the sourcing to meet the WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
