Image copyright problem with Image:Proof_shiekh_isaaq.JPG edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Proof_shiekh_isaaq.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Duplicate images uploaded edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Lasanod town.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you uploaded the same image twice: as Image:Lasanod town.jpg and also as Image:Lasanod galleryfull.jpg. The latter copy of the file has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and remember exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 20:46, 18 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Minor edits edit

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! --Mel Etitis (Talk) 14:16, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Garhajis edit

Regarding your edit to Garhajis: You changed a a statement that made an unattributed claim. However, you did not attribute your own edit. As the sentence in question is apparently disputed, and unattributed either way, I am removing it from the article. Thanks, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:04, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Isaaq edit

I know you didn't ask me, but I left some comments at User talk:CambridgeBayWeather regarding your Isaaq question. I have partially restored the list of individuals. Most of the list consisted of redlinks, while some people were listed two, three, even four times. Based on what I found, I cleaned up the list, and now there are exactly four individuals. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 17:52, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Because I haven't got to the Darod yet. Someone had already done the Isaaq and I just reverted to that. I have since started on the Category:Somali clans with the A's and will work my way up to Darod. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 21:35, 20 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Copyright status of Image:Faisal Ali.jpg edit

Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Image:Faisal Ali.jpg. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.somalilandtimes.net/sl/2006/255/28.shtml in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

 • If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
 • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Image:Faisal Ali.jpg with a link to where we can find that note;
 • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Image:Faisal Ali.jpg with a link to the details.

Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a hangon tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Image:Faisal Ali.jpg saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.

It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Iamunknown 18:36, 30 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

August 2007 edit

Please do not add content without citing reliable sources, as you did to Isaaq. Before making potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Thank you. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 22:09, 8 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the list of Notable Isaq People: The same rationale you were given in April 2007 still applies in August 2007. If these individuals are sufficiently notable then they deserve their own Wikipedia articles. Please consider writing the article(s) before adding another red link to the list. Orphaned non-free image (Image:Normal shiekh-isaq jpg.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Normal shiekh-isaq jpg.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:32, 11 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Notability of Abdillahi Suldaan Tima-Cadde edit

A tag has been placed on Abdillahi Suldaan Tima-Cadde, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 18:27, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Deleted as copyvio edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the article Abdillahi Suldaan Tima-Cadde, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition was deleted under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text—which means allowing other people to modify it—then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page.--Fuhghettaboutit 00:49, 14 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:View of Hargeisa., Somalia.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading File:View of Hargeisa., Somalia.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
