I just wanted tohank you for the heard work that you do archiving threads on both user talk pages and on content talk page.s It is much appreciated and teh project is better for your presence. You desrve a barnstar. Smith Jones (talk) 02:09, 1 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Oddity

Just passing by and noticed this. Thought it might be a mistake and you would want to take a look. JPG-GR (talk) 04:03, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No it's not - instead of just redirecting the bot's talk page to his, Beta decided on having all threads copied to his own. Миша13 12:01, 2 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah... didn't know they were coming from the bot's talk page - didn't know where they were coming from, honestly. Makes sense now. Thanks for the reply! JPG-GR (talk) 01:35, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

You delivered the wrong newsletter ;( Can you please replace the correct one with the other one. Cheers, -- iMatthew T.C. 16:43, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

:o You got me confused because issue 23 was bolded on the newsletter page, not 22. In future, best to point out the issue # when signalling me to deliver it. Anyway, fixing in progress... Миша13 18:10, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Request for uninvolved comment

Hi Misza13,

I found you at random from the list of administrators. I am currently involved in a disagreement of sorts with an administrator, Raul654, regarding the content of some of the Global Warming articles. I should stress that I am not challanging any science based portion of these articles.

I have written up on my talk page an informal request for comment on the situation, here. I come to you with the intention of accepting your opinion regardless of if it leaves me blocked and Raul654 vindicated completely. I am aware that reading through this (and the rest of my edit history, to verify Raul654's own accusation that I am in fact myself a disruptive editor) will take a fair lump of your time and will further respect your decision if you decide I am wasting your time.

Thanks in advance,

Jaimaster (talk) 03:43, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm relatively busy recently but I'll try my best to honestly comment on the situation over the following days. Btw, if you haven't already, you might also try other dispute resolution steps, such as the Mediation Cabal, for example. Миша13 20:17, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image:General Chang.JPG

Hey there! I noticed you deleted Image:General Chang.JPG a while back. Would you be able to restore the image, so that I may add a fair-use rationale for use in the article Chang (Star Trek)? Thank you! — OranL (talk) 03:49, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

My Image

Hi, I'd just like to know why you deleted my image Image:Soul Sprite.gif? Just felt like it? Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 00:35, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Looks to me suspiciously similar to Sonic - are these related? Have you based your image on Sonic or his friends? Миша13 07:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It is a fan-fiction character that I created. I made that sprite. It's not violating anything. Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 07:07, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, whatever. If you actually read the deletion log, you'd see that the image was deleted per Image with unknown copyright status., citing WP:CSD#I4. In fact, even after your re-upload, you still didn't tag the image with an appropriate copyright tag. As such, the image will continue to be tagged and deleted. Миша13 12:50, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've stated that I created the image. What more could you possibly need to verify it? Skeletal S.L.J.C.O.A.A.A.T.R. 15:32, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
That states nothing regarding your licensing conditions (and there are many to choose from) - every media on this site must have both the source and licensing information provided. I have provided the link for you above, let me repeat it explicitly: Wikipedia:Image copyright tags - please choose one that best fits you (as long as it's compatible with the image's planned use and that you're aware of implications of the chosen licensing). Wikinews 4 Leads question

Thank you again soooo much for the invaluable Wikinews Importer Bot (talk · contribs). I was wondering - would there be a way to create a bot to capture only the four headlines, with dates, from the 4 "Lead" article blurbs on the n:Main Page of Wikinews?

  1. n:Template:Lead article 1
  2. n:Template:Lead article 2
  3. n:Template:Lead article 3
  4. n:Template:Lead article 4

I could see this as being useful on Wikipedia at some point soon. If it is too hard, no worries. Cirt (talk) 16:36, 20 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Certainly possible, even though it would prolly be a quite different bot. Where would these be supposed to be dropped, and in what format? Миша13 20:54, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
The format would be exactly like that of Wikinews Importer Bot (talk · contribs), so essentially:
  • Headline for Lead article 1, Date.
  • Headline for Lead article 2, Date.
  • Headline for Lead article 3, Date.
  • Headline for Lead article 4, Date.

They would be dropped into a new page, perhaps titled User:Wikinews Importer Bot/Wikinews Lead articles or something like that. The uses could perhaps be transcluding these 4 Lead article headlines onto pages on Wikipedia (hopefully). Cirt (talk) 21:09, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry to be a bother but even if it might take awhile it might be helpful to get a time estimate if this is something that could be done - we are trying to have some heady development and reform-style discussions on Wikinews and this type of bot or regularly updated list might help. Thank you so much, Cirt (talk) 00:51, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

I think I may be thinking too hard about this - perhaps there is some way to use the DPL on Wikinews to have a Wikinews subpage with the 4 leads in this manner? (the way I manually did it as an example at User:Wikinews Importer Bot/Wikinews Lead articles) If so, the current bot Wikinews Importer Bot (talk · contribs) would be able to update it like any other subpage. Cirt (talk) 00:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • Actually if Wikinews Importer Bot (talk · contribs) could do it by itself that might work out better in the long run - eh, I am not too sure, I will defer to you as you know more about this sort of thing than me and how to set it up (if you have a chance). Cirt (talk) 02:07, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Any ideas? Cirt (talk) 21:15, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for not replying timely; I've been quite busy recently. Of course, if you manage to get the DPL templates to do your work, then everything is already set - the bot is able to import that format. If however the initial idea must be pursued then I will require several days (given my other tasks) to code and test it - shouldn't be much of an obstacle though. For a start, let's see if I have it ready by the end of this weekend. Миша13 17:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't think DPL would be the way to go for that because we would first need a category, and that would require updating either by a human or by a bot - either way, I would much rather prefer the initial idea of a straight bot to do it and crawl from Wikipedia for it. No worries if it takes you some time - thanks so much for helping - I had just wanted a rough time estimate, no problem if it takes awhile. Cirt (talk) 20:16, 31 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Any luck? Cirt (talk) 22:38, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Some, yes. I still have to get the date for the headline. I'm thinking about the the date of the first revision of the article that's linked from the template. Will try to use the API for that. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow... Миша13 16:28, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, it seems to be working as expected: [1] - I'll set it to update hourly as the original bot.
If you however plan on putting it on a high-visibility page (Main Page?) remember that the bot is not an admin and wouldn't be able to break through a cascading protection. :> Миша13 17:59, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks, I shall check into this further. Cirt (talk) 23:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Um, how would we proceed if we did want to get around the cascading protection issue and put this on a high-visibility page, (Main Page, etc.) ? Cirt (talk) 23:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

And on a related note, would it make a difference if at some point in the future the 4 Main Page lead templates at Wikinews were also full protected? Cirt (talk) 23:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever since the bot only reads the the wikinews pages. Regarding going "around" the protection, should this idea arise seriously, I would prolly try a not-so-simple request on WP:BRFA/WT:BAG and finally on WP:BN to check if any 'crats had the balls to go "around" what is called "community consensus" and flag the bot +sysop in a rouge manner. Since I'm pretty sure none would, the only choice left would be WP:RfA, a.k.a. the hard way... Миша13 20:08, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for all you have already done. I will think about this, discuss with others and look into it further, and keep you posted. Cirt (talk) 20:29, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Block of Dooooooo0000000000000000000000000000000

The username policy doesn't support instant blocks of names like "Dooooooo0000000000000000000000000000000". Were you unaware of this, or were you just applying IAR?

The consensus of WT:U is that it's much better to give a username warning with {{uw-username}} in those situations. That way, if the user is a good-faith user who didn't realize that they need to use a non-sucky name, we give them another chance and don't necessarily drive them away, and if they're a bad faith user, we find that out the first time they edit, because the username makes their vandalism really obvious and we can hardblock them.

rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 23:45, 4 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

So, how many 0s are there exactly? Or are those Os? Besides, the first thing the block template says is how to create a new account. And if they don't edit at all (which they most often do, if they just registered for the lulz), then it's a lost effort to communicate with them (2 messages in this case). This has been my experience with this type of users (with whom I've had a share of dealings). I suppose you're the type that would prefer to discuss every single block for at least a week prior to actually (not) placing it, but that's not how things have been accomplished over the past years. Миша13 07:02, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why does it matter how many 0s or Os there are? Nobody's asking you to recite the user's name in a spelling bee. You're on a computer; if you want to see what the user's up to, you click on the link. It's no more difficult than interacting with, say, a user with an Arabic name.
Perhaps nobody was harmed by this block, but that was not the case for Ggggggggggggggg12 -- you could have been the one making that mistake. Yes, I think blocks need to be discussed, and I don't see placing unnecessary blocks as an "accomplishment". rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 22:09, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
And BTW, what is this pointless digging in my months-old logs? After you poked me a month ago about a similar issue, I removed the character repetition rule from my bot. Now you made me go WTF three times: For once, I couldn't find this block in my recent log and was expecting some Mediawiki bug. Second, I went to remove the rule (again!) only to find it's not there anymore. And finally, when I checked the user himself (of course you didn't even link to him as you suggest and I had to go through the copy/paste routine - I'd type the username in the URL by hand if it was simpler) I saw you were referring to a block back from May. Srsly, the world has moved by a few million kilometers since then. Миша13 23:17, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Huh. I actually don't know how I came across this block. I found the user's page as a link from some current event -- I've totally lost track of what -- and I mistakenly thought the block was current as well. I certainly didn't go digging in your logs intentionally. I do apologize for the confusion, then, and I appreciate the response to the unnecessary bother I've created. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 23:28, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image Renewal

I wonder if you know how to renew an image, like edit an Wikipedia image a little bit to make it look better and relace that image with the old one (The old one would be shown on the image page). Do you just upload the file under the same name, or is there a more complex procedure.

Asking, --RayqayzaDialgaWeird2210    21:11, 8 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

On every image page, in the "File history" section there is a link called "Upload a newer version of this file". Or you could just go straight to Special:Upload and simply specify the same destination. Either way, you should probably only upload the image with a different version of it, not with an entirely different image. Cheers, Миша13 18:30, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Deletion of Image:Phoenix_Fire_Dept_Logo.png

You recently deleted an image (Image:Phoenix_Fire_Dept_Logo.png) that I uploaded on the grounds that it was copyrighted but unused. However, WP:CSD#I5 clearly states: "Reasonable exceptions may be made for images uploaded for an upcoming article." After I received a speedy deletion warning, I added a note to the image's description section saying that it was intended for us in an upcoming article. I believe that the image is acceptable for upload under said conditions, and I would appreciate your input on the matter. Thank you. Seanm028 (talk) 10:44, 12 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Bluster Kong

Hi Misza,

I noticed that you deleted Image:BlusterKong.jpg. Based on the guideline you cited, I am under the impression that you deleted it because it was not used in any articles at that point. For some reason, Bluster Kong became a redirect to List of Donkey Kong characters but the information about him was not merged into the list. I have completed the merge, but the section would look much better if the image supplimented the information. Would you mind restoring the image now that it would be in use?

Problems using archivebot.py

Hi Misza13,

I'm having some trouble using the archivebot.py on de.wikinews. This is the error:

Can you please help me? Don't know what to do. I don't think that there is any error, I took your original-script and I have always this error. My script looks like this: http://rapidshare.com/files/138279277/archivebot.py.html

Looking forward to here from you, and thanks.--HouseGhostDiscussion 17:50, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No matter what I do, I just can't run the archivebot.py.. Do I have to make some modifications because it's a german wiki?--HouseGhostDiscussion 19:21, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Right now this looks more like a problem outlined in User:MiszaBot/Archive FAQ#Q1/scenario 3. Миша13 19:41, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I've got it now (for now he knows the parameters), but he isn't archieving anything. Can you please look over the page if everything is alright? http://de.wikinews.org/wiki/Benutzer_Diskussion:Der_Hausgeist/Archiv-Test --HouseGhostDiscussion 19:49, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I tried it now on an english wiki, too, with english timestamps, but nothing works. I just can't help myself, why it isn't archieving anything. Even with the original script, it isn't working and I just don't get why.--HouseGhostDiscussion 22:43, 18 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Oh, and one thing: It's showing the bot-help always after every "run". Maybe that means something to you?--HouseGhostDiscussion 19:06, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Can't get this to work alone, so I need your help. Could you please contact me via E-Mail?--HouseGhostDiscussion 13:10, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
It always displays the help - something to do with the framework itself, not my bot.
I think the problem on dewiki is with the timestamp format - it's quite different from what we use on enwiki (and the bot doesn't handle that format). Can you show me an example on the english wiki where it doesn't work either? Миша13 19:54, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, it was this wiki: http://metalgear.wikia.com/ .
Is there any trick, anything I can do so it will work along with the german time format?--HouseGhostDiscussion 20:11, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know why it doesn't work on metalgear.wikia - can you point out a specific page?
In the class DiscussionThread, method feedLine there is a string of checks like this:
           if not TIME:
               TIME = ...
You could try adding the german format to the list as another option. Миша13 06:55, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
One of these should work, ain't?
           if not TIME:
               TIME = txt2timestamp(TM.group(0),"%H:%M, %d. %b. %Y (%Z)")
           if not TIME:
               TIME = txt2timestamp(TM.group(0),"%H:%M, %b. %d. %Y (%Z)")
           if not TIME:
               TIME = txt2timestamp(TM.group(0),"%H:%M, %d. %B. %Y (%Z)")
Or how else shall I do it? How do I tell Python, that the montch is shortenes, from August to Aug., from April to Apr.?--HouseGhostDiscussion 11:40, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Almost - a dot in a regular expression denotes "any character", so you should escape them with backslashes. Read more about python's "re" module here: http://docs.python.org/lib/module-re.html
Regarding a short month name, read the documentation on the time module - %B is the full name, %b is abbreviated. Миша13 17:04, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
So, this should work, right?
        TM = re.search(r'(\d\d):(\d\d), (\d\d?)\. (\w+)\. (\d\d\d\d) \(.*?\)', line)

	if TM:
#              wikipedia.output(TM)
           TIME = txt2timestamp(TM.group(0),"%H:%M, %d\. %b\. %Y (%Z)")
        if TIME:
           self.timestamp = max(self.timestamp,time.mktime(TIME))
It isn't. Isn't this script used on ANY german project before?--HouseGhostDiscussion 17:19, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Because (as the documentation I linked to explains) backslashes themselves are control sequence markers and must be escaped twice: "%H:%M, %d\\. %b\\. %Y (%Z)". And no, to my knowledge it hasn't been used on any german wiki. Миша13 17:23, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, thanks for your help. I did that changes, but it is still not working. As I see (and the error message is the following when I take away the "if TM:"-condition), it doesn't even grab the timestamp:
   TIME = txt2timestamp(TM.group(0),"%H:%M, %d\\. %b\\. %Y (%Z)")
AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'group'
...what means I can't do anything anymore, right?--HouseGhostDiscussion 17:35, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, I'm certainly lost now. If I find some free time in the following days, I'll try to do it myself and see what's the problem. Миша13 17:47, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Okay. Here is my testing-page, so you can look over it: http://de.wikinews.org/wiki/Benutzer_Diskussion:Der_Hausgeist/Archiv-Test --HouseGhostDiscussion 17:48, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Alright, I got it here. With a lot of regexp and replace-functions. (like taking the dots away, and changing things like "Dez(ember)" into "Dec(ember)". Not the best method, but I hope that it will work until you bring up a new version with better german support :-).--HouseGhostDiscussion 00:44, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your Deletion of Image:Celebrity centre promotional photo.jpg

You deleted the Church of Scientology publicity photo featuring John Travolta and Rep. Ros Lehtinen on August 7th. The photo was more than properly documented as fair use, and it is the only known photo of a prominent Republican politician at a Scientology event. So what gives? MiamiManny (talk) 13:13, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Documented or not, it wasn't used in any articles (as you could read from the deletion log), which is a requirement for a nonfree image to stay on Wikipedia. Миша13 16:51, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yet another whine about the archiver bot

Hey, I set up archiving via your bot for my talk page back on the 15th. So far, however, there hasn't been any activity. I'm wondering if this is because I've done manual archiving before and the bot doesn't want to touch the current archive, or if I'm doing it wrong, or what... Could you please figure out how I'm screwing it up, and let me know how to fix it? Thanks. --coldacid (talk|contrib) 18:28, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, it's actually my fault and a minor deficiency in the bot's code - case of the first letter matters for it. Миша13 18:31, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ah. Thanks for catching that and making the change for me! --coldacid (talk|contrib) 18:36, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I know this particular case is minor, but if you still don't see how you were being incivil, then it could potentially be a much more extensive problem. Incivility is particularly problematic for bot owners and administrators, as per Wikipedia:BOT#Good communication and Wikipedia:Administrators#Administrator conduct. As I'm sure you're aware, Wikipedia only works if editors respect each other.
And I don't understand why you say I've "chosen" references that are biased to my POV: they say nearly the same thing as the wiktionary definition you provide. Dictionary.com and m-w.com are just the only two online dictionaries I am aware of (aside from wiktionary, which I don't use). Regardless, wiktionary defines "duh" as "Disdainful indication that something is obvious." wikt:Disdain is further defined as "A feeling of contempt or scorn." Now do you understand why I feel your usage of the term is incivil? If you do not, please explain respectfully. I am trying to resolve this in a cordial manner, please do the same for me. -kotra (talk) 21:33, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Minor pedantic aside: the origin of "duh" is not "d'oh". All the etymologies of the word I've seen (admittedly, only two) put the origin in the 1960s, as an imitation of a sound slow-witted people (allegedly) make. Reading up on it more, it seems that the two have recently been mistaken to have the same source, but they do not. This is, however, pretty irrelevant. -kotra (talk) 22:25, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

User:Wikinews Importer Bot/Wikinews Lead articles

Thank you so much for doing this. Quick question, can you change this to only 3 items in the list and not 4? I will update you on how this goes, I am about ready to propose it. Cirt (talk) 22:38, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Which three? Some specific ones or just 3 newest ones? Миша13 07:00, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
The three newest out of the 4 Main Page Lead templates. Cirt (talk) 12:22, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, done. Миша13 16:53, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Order of statements in MiszaBot III config, transclude questions

Is order of statements which configure MiszaBot critical, in addition to having a carriage return/line feed (new line) for each statement following a pipe character? May the configuration template be transcluded to the talk page, say from a Talkheader template? Thank you! -Newportm (talk) 18:58, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

The order is irrelevant - in fact, the bot will sort the variables in its preferred order next time it edits the page. Also, the template can't be transcluded from another page because then the bot wouldn't find it if it were to "enter edit mode". Миша13 20:14, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

My talkpage - broken?

Hi - sorry to bother you, the bot seems to have left my talkpage untouched for quite a while now; the paramaters in my template all seem to be right, I wonder if you could take a look at it. Thanks! ╟─Treasury§Tagcontribs─╢ 17:55, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

See User:MiszaBot/Archive FAQ#Q1, reason 2. Миша13 20:11, 21 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, I use those parameters already, I'm afraid - my code says: {{User:MiszaBot/config |minthreadsleft = 0 |minthreadstoarchive = 1 |algo = old(2d) |archive = User talk:TreasuryTag/Archives/%(year)d/%(monthnameshort)s }}

Anything else it might be? :P ╟─Treasury§Tagcontribs─╢ 18:54, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Then it must be random space radiation - it happens from time to time that the bot doesn't see a page on Special:Whatlinkshere of the template. Best I could do for now was to remove and add it back, hoping it forces the mw:templatelinks table to update. If nothing happens though, I'll see about changing it to use api.php instead... Миша13 19:19, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Hmmm; thanks, sorry to be causing trouble :P ╟─Treasury§Tagcontribs─╢ 20:54, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please help me set up an automatic archive on my talk page

Hello there. I fear that you get these sorts of requests only too often but unfortunately when I tried to set up automatic archiving on my talk page using MiszaBot III, nothing seemed to have happened. Could you please check over the code I have used and inform me of what the problem is? Thanks in advance. It Is Me Here (talk) 16:37, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please see two threads above - you might be the victim of the same effect (the bot doesn't see your page). I'll see what I can do about it. Миша13 19:20, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
OK, thanks - if you do manage to fix the problem, it would be very much appreciated. It Is Me Here (talk) 20:24, 22 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Greenhouse effect archiving

I am fairly new to Wikipedia but not at all new to physics. I have been contributing to the Greenhouse effect but recently dicussion has been almost completely suppressed by the introduction of automatic archiving which sends discussion to the archives when it is a few weeks old. It does this by running some software called a mizabot or some such. I have been told that I might be able to adjust the parameters of this Mizabot but, although I have searched extensively, I cannot find where the code is still less how to edit these parameters. I am familiar with the obscurities of MS Access with it hidden processing that conceals most of what is happening. To me this automatic archiving is similar.

Are you able to enlighten me on the matter of automatic archiving? I have asked those who enabled the archiving to change it to leave contributions for this year visible but no luck so far. Perhaps the last 6 months would be a better idea. The current situation is absurd and appears to be quite contrary to Wikipedia policy i.e, consent for automatic archiving (is this for all archiving?)

I may be at the wrong place or completely out of step, I have the weird feeling I am writing this to a non-existant person whose identity is only a programing construct, it keeps you in the beginner category just so much longer. I have contribution to make to Greenhouse effect and I don't see why discussion should be suppressed by archiving. --Damorbel (talk) 21:07, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

First of all, it's "Misza", not "Miza" - seems like dozens of people who keep confusing that can't read what's before their very eyes.
Second, you're talking to me, a human, the bot's operator.
Third, the edits where the archiving was requested were here: [2] - as you see, it wasn't me who did that, I only provide archiving service to those who opt in to use it. (And you could've found it in the page's history on your own.) If someone uses it against consensus, it's not my problem - you can adjust the settings, revert the archiving, etc.
Fourth, if you bothered to do some research first, and visited the bot's userpage, you'd invariably end up at User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo which explains the rules of archiving in great detail.
Fifth, archiving discussions that haven't been posted to in two month can hardly be called "suppressing" (on the other hand, it's a demagogy-loaded word, and entirely unnecessary here). If you want that to be 6 months, help yourself, I coudln't care less.
Sixth, if you bothered to enter edit mode on the archived page, you'd notice the bot's configuration at its very top (does that qualify as more than "extensive searching"?).
Regards, Миша13 22:40, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the warm welcome to a beginner! Your response "Fifth, archiving discussions that haven't been posted to in two month" I may have made a mistake but what I object to is stuff being archived when it has been on show for two months or less, in my book that is "suppressing", I know you "coudln't care less" sorry I bothered you for help.--Damorbel (talk) 12:56, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

By the way your problem with the spelling of you name arises because sometimes it reads "Миша" instead of Misza. I have the same problem because my name was originally Gaelic. I solved the problem by not getting upset when dealing with non Gaelic speakers who did not understand. I tried looking at the Polish alphabet but I still couldn't resolve the characters in Миша, is that article no good? --Damorbel (talk) 13:17, 26 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Puerto Rico Newsletter

Hey, I am interested in reviving this Newsletter, but User:R who used to work with the delivery has since retired. I noticed that your bot does the delivery for WP:PW, is there a chance that it could do so for WP:PUR? - Caribbean~H.Q. 01:03, 29 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

how is the archiving done?

I would like an explanation about how archiving is done, in particular unresolved complaints. I am referring to a complaint entitled /*Harassment by Badagnani */ which was archived in this sweep. Would it be appropriate to reinstate it, and if so, how? Ohconfucius (talk) 02:41, 30 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Archiving (as noted in the edit summary) is done by copying threads that are older than (in case of AN/I) 24 hours (where "old" means that no one has posted to the thread in 24 hours). If you wish to reinstate a thread just copy it from the archive back to the main page (and add a fresh timestamp, so that the bot doesn't archive it right away).
