W&M

I have read the criteria and from my understanding this actually falls under "Fair Use"--there is no other image freely available online that shows the W&M campus from up top. I have scoured the web and there is none. Moreover, the copyright holder information IS in the image...click on it and you will see who owns it. She and I had e-mailed directly regarding her giving permission. I have placed the watermark there as per Fair Use requirements (I do not see why the watermark is any way a problem, however). Thank you for your time and patience (as I am new to this). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Higherededitor2 (talkcontribs) 21:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Odd bot behaviour on Talk:Alcoholics Anoymous

The script on this file is set up the usual way, to archive weekly to a file. But at [1], we have "(Archiving 2 thread(s) (older than 24h) to /dev/null.)". It appears to me that someone created an instance of the bot to delete threads he found unpleasant. Is this a likely explanation? There is no obvious script in the file that would do this. Thanks. Talk page archival

Hello Misza, Can you please check why the bot is not archiving the signpost sections on my talk page? Thanks, Ganeshk (talk) 02:00, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's not about signposts or not, it's about having only 5 threads on your talk. See User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo#Parameters explained/minthreadsleft. Миша13 07:50, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Archiving bots

Any change you can make the miszabots' archiveheader setting default to {{talkarchive}}{{archive-nav|N}} (and correctly fill in the "N" with the archive number) rather than just {{talkarchive}}? Thanks – Gurch 13:49, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not always is the archive number-based (see my archives). Perhaps I should use {{talkarchive}}{{subst:#if:%(counter)d|{{talkarchive|%(counter)d}}|}}? Ugh. Not even sure if it'd work. Миша13 16:28, 3 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

MiszaBot

Over at WP:PW, we are discussing starting up a project notification to be delivered to project members weekly. I noticed that MiszaBot has previously delivered newsletters for both Esperanza and Concordia, so I was wondering if you'd be willing to let us take advantage of that function, assuming that it can be both a category tracker and deliver newsletters. So, would you be willing to let us use your bot? Cheers, The Hybrid 00:23, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Haven't used the spambot for a while but I just found the code in my archives. As it's a reuse of old functionality, I won't bother with BRFA for this (zomg!), so just signal me when the newsletter text is ready, where is it located and where is the "victim" list - then I'll do my job. Миша13 22:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
The Newsletter is {{subst:Pwcotw notice}}, and the preferred victim list would be Category:WikiProject Professional wrestling participants, but if it can't do categories, then the less complete Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Members list would suffice. Thank you for this Misza!!! So, do I notify you weekly when the newsletter is prepared, or do we set a time for when the letter should be prepared by so you can just have the bot deliver it? Also, how does one set up an "opt out" list? Cheers, The Hybrid 06:09, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
A category will do just fine. In fact, I could probably make the bot update the member list based on the category, if you wish. An opt-out list could be a human-maintaned page with *[[User:Example]] entries that would be excluded from delivery.
The option where the newsletter is delivered at a preset moment during the week has some risks involved (you might forget to update the newsletter, it might get vandalized by someone who knows the exact time of delivery, toolserver might be offline, etc.) - generally, newsletters should be checked last-minute before delivery. So yes, just poke me whenever it's ready and I'll get to deliver it within a day. Миша13 09:49, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Alright, thanks again Misza. I'll create the opt out list, and we'll begin next week. Having the bot update the members list would be absolutely wonderful. Someone blanked it without permission a while back, and no one noticed until months later since no one had it on their watchlist. As a result, a good number of users who should be on the list aren't. Not one of our brighter moments, to say the least 0_0. You're an angle Misza. Cheers, The Hybrid 19:15, 6 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wrong archive

This bot archived 2 threads from Talk:Windows Vista to Talk:Windows Vista/Archive 8 when Talk:Windows Vista/Archive 10 is the current archive. Josh 13:36, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

As far as I check the history, it has always been archiving to /Archive 8 - pretty much as expected, since the counter has (and had) a value of 8. Dunno if someone moved it back or just archived on their own to new archives - you can adjust the counter as you wish. Миша13 14:20, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

MiszaBot II

MiszaBot II archives Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration, and is set to seven days. However, Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration#Clarification and several sections below it are much older than that. Why haven't they been archived? Picaroon (t) 17:43, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo#Parameters explained - minthreadsleft - until this comment, there were only 5 threads on the page. I am only surprised that the bot didn't archive some today (it runs well after 1AM)... I'll see if it repeats tomorrow. Миша13 17:52, 7 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Private Picture?

And doing so on all his pictures with "no source". -WarthogDemon 00:23, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Whatever "private" means, either the image is free (as in free to use by everyone) but needs a source nonetheless (at least something like "own work") or it is non-free whereupon it needs a fair use rationale and stuff. Any other interpretation is grounds for speedy deletion. You could inquire in more detail as to what "private" means in this particular context. Миша13 17:01, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Playphone Deletion

Hi Misza,

I was just researching the company [Playphone]http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Image:PlayPhone_Logo.PNG&action=edit, and noticed that a previous page that was created on the company has been deleted. I'm new to wiki as an editor, so I wanted to see if I could get some background on the issue before I attempt to recreate a page on the company.

Thanks,

Vellel —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vellel99 (talkcontribs) 04:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't know if there was ever an article about that company - neither PlayPhone or Play Phone ever existed. As to the image you're referring to, I am unable to tell whether it was ever used in an article - I can only say that it was deleted because it was a non-free image and was not used in articles for seven days at the moment of deletion. Миша13 21:47, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Last minute update - it seems that Playphone existed and was deleted as "blatant advertising". You are at any time welcome to recreate the article in a neutral and encyclopedic form. Миша13 21:49, 15 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Archive help

Oh, Misza. Please help me figure out why MiszaBot isn't archiving my talk page anymore. Thank you. WODUP 01:31, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's only 5 threads on your talk page. So as not to "harvest" pages to nil, the bot will always leave at least minthreadsleft sections on the page - this is configurable as explained in User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo#Parameters explained. Миша13 20:30, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Archiving question - MiszaBot_III

Can you take a look at my talk page? I have it set to have MiszaBot_III archive posts older than 30 days and leave a minimum of 2. The first post has been there past 30 days and there are more than two other comments on the page. Thanks, KnightLago 16:27, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Only the first thread on your talk qualifies as old enough for archival. To reduce the number of edits, the bot only acts if there's at least minthreadstoarchive sections qualifying - this is configurable as explained in User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo#Parameters explained. Миша13 20:29, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I see. Thanks. KnightLago 20:59, 16 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Similar question

Did I set up the bot correctly on my talk page? I set it to archive every 48hrs, but it has not archived anything yet. Curt Wilhelm VonSavage 07:31, 17 October 2007 (UTC).Reply

Your situation is a combination of the two mentioned above - while there are are two sections qualifying to be archived on your talk page, if it did, it would leave only 4 threads, which is less than default minthreadsleft. If it were to leave 5, it would have to archive only one thread, which is less than minthreadstoarchive (2 by default). Миша13 14:47, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Status switcher mod/cleanup

I've done a little code cleanup on your status switcher script to get rid of a couple little bugs that were (no pun intended) bugging me a bit. You can see the changes in this diff. Basically, I made it use a different function to add the links and put them outside of li #pt-mycontris, since all four links were being bolded when viewing my contribs. I also set the script to use some of the MediaWiki-provided JavaScript variables instead of scraping data from the existing elements (username) or hard-coding (link prefix). If you tried using these variables (most notably wgUserName) and had a problem, let me know; I want to be able to port my version to another wiki if possible. I hope you'll integrate these fixes into the mainstream version. Tuvok[T@lk/Improve me] 06:55, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Warning:Javascript security issue

Hi! I need to inform you that I've protected User:Misza13/Scripts/Watchlist sorter because it allows users to add code to the javascript of other users. If you are an admin, you are still able to edit it, but if you are not an admin, please copy and paste it into your userspace to continue modifying it. We can set up a message at the old javascript page telling users to change their links. If you need help, please contact me or User:Eagle_101. Thanks, --uǝʌǝsʎʇɹnoɟʇs 02:12, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Um, excuse me? User:Misza13/Scripts/Watchlist sorter is a redirect. The script proper (included via importScript()) is located at User:Misza13/watchlistSorter.js, which is protected naturally being a user .js page. Also, the above looks suspisiously like a generic template message. Миша13 07:18, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

MiszaBot II issue

The bot marked as a minor edit the following. Just pointing it out.--Tasc0 06:43, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

That's intentional. While moving around tons of text might not seem "minor", it becomes crucial when archiving User talk: pages - minor edits by flagged bots do not trigger the "new messages" bar - I think that's quite an asset. Миша13 07:31, 22 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dmcdevit sucks, Luna Santin is better.

I must say this one calls for some bigger guns, don't you think? Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 02:39, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm too lazy/don't have enough time to change the codes that govern this. See also my second reply to an old thread for further explanation. Миша13 16:51, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Issue with creation of archive links on the Talk page

The MiszaBot II bot is currently moving threads to archive pages, but it is failing to create a link to the archive page on the main Talk page. Either that, or it does not create the link until the archive page is full. This is an example of what I mean. If this is the intended behaviour, may I suggest that you reconsider it, as it renders recently archived threads hidden until their archive page is full. This causes big problems when a user is searching through the archives trying to follow the progression of related threads. It would be better if the bot create a links to an archive page when it first creates it, instead of when it is deemed to be full. —gorgan_almighty 11:47, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

There's some dose of misunderstanding here. My bot does not maintain archive indices at all. Werdnabot (now shadowbot3) did as well as Cluebot does. Миша13 16:48, 24 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
So your bot create archives but it doesn't index them? Wouldn't it be better to combine the two tasks? —gorgan_almighty 09:21, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
There's nothing to "combine" - my bot is written in python and the other ones in perl (as far as I know), so I have no code to borrow directly. And designing the algorithm from scratch has proven the task to be conceptually difficult (for me at least) - I don't exactly have enough free time to play with that. Миша13 11:21, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Question about switching from Werdnabot

Every since Wernabot disappeared, Miszabot III has been archiving my pages. I wanted to change the template on my talk page to reflect this. So I copied the Miszabot instructions. Will Miszabot III continue to archive my pages now that I have changed the template? Thanks! --Mattisse 15:14, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

It has been archiving your talk page for a long while now. Миша13 16:21, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Yes, thank goodness! I hope it continues to do so now that I have fiddled with the template today (or whatever you call it). Someone complained that my talk page said Wernabot but the watchlist said Misabot III. Thanks! --Mattisse 16:34, 25 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Is it OK to reupload the logo of Museum Rudana ? In wikipedia Indonesia, I use a LOGO lience, but in this english page, I couldn't, so it's confusing

Noniq21 07:11, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You should be able to use logos on fair use terms as long as you tag it with a {{logo}} and provide a valid fair use rationale for the image. Миша13 22:03, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why did you delete the PlayStation Project's logo? It was completely made by one of our members and did not violate anything.--Playstationdude 17:06, 27 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

  1. What image in particular is it? (I'm deleting hundreds of 'em every day.)
  2. If it was deleted, it must've been tagged with a non-free license - if it was made from scratch then why wasn't it tagged with a free one? (The question if it is at all allowed is another one - but then, IANAL.)

Can you move this discussion to WP:TPSP talk page? You deleted a made from scratch logo of the PlayStation WikiProject's logo: Image:Playstation Project logo.jpg

Image undeletion request

Could you undelete Image:Nobel in Literature.jpg please? I'd like to put it back into the Nobel Prize in Literature article, from where it got temporarily deleted by an IMO rogue user. Depending on the provenance of the image (which I can't see, it having been deleted), there's also a strong possibility it may actually be copyright-expired in the USA. Jheald 01:15, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Restored - you can remove the tags and provide a fair-use rationale (as the image is currently missing one). Миша13 22:08, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alright Misza, it's ready to be delivered. Davnel03 19:33, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Have you forgotten about this? It needs to be delivered ASAP. Thanks, Davnel03 20:35, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
In progress - please note that however I have stated "within a day", I am not bound by an SLA for this. ;-) In fact, I should probably make the code public so that people run their spambots as they please... Миша13 22:01, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I told him about the "within a day" thing, but I guess he forgot. Sorry about that Misza. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 01:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

request undelete of very simple drawing from my website.

My whole website at www.dyad.org has been marked GFDL. You placed a block under the dyad (spiritual workshops) Image:Dyad model 1.gif sub page (see Dyad (spiritual workshops)). The original picture can be found here http://dyad.org/d04model.htm

Please assist me in getting the dyad subcategory viewable. It is important information that will help people become more aware of their inner normally hidden states. This information describes a communication technology that has been used by over 100,000 people around the world. It is valuable information to people who normally do sitting meditation, but now want something faster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wrsavoie (talkcontribs) 19:36, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

If it's GFDL, you should've tagged it as such (using {{GFDL}}, for instance). Moreover, free images should preferably be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons so they're available to more projects. Миша13 22:12, 30 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Help with your Status switcher script.

Hello I am fairly new to wikipedia and would like to use your status switcher. I understand where to put the .js files, but am not sure where to put the HTML code given as an example. If you could help me thank you. Sorry if I am asking this in the wrong place.

Robotboy2008 05:46, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Put the HTML in User:Robotboy2008/StatusTemplate. Then put the code {{User:Robotboy2008/Status}} on your main userpage. Finally, just click one of the in/busy/out buttons (if they do not appear immediately, see WP:CACHE). Миша13 16:39, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive317

Hello, Misza13 I come here to ask about your recent achieving AN/Incident. I filed a report regarding User:Sennen goroshi's abusive behaviors and racial slurs. That case is still not done yet, and I've not got any notice from any admins. Why did you move the report [3] to Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/IncidentArchive317. It is not fair and unreasonable. Were there any decision reached without any notice to me, or removed by accident? Please give me a reason and if there is no plausible explanation, restore it to the incident page. Thanks. --Appletrees 13:10, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Oh did I, really? I thought it was done by an archiving bot. Миша13 16:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Image:Stockholm_School_of_Economics_seal.png

I noticed that you deleted Image:Stockholm_School_of_Economics_seal.png on 02:45, 17 October 2007 since the image wasn't being used. A vandal removed the image from the relevant article, Stockholm School of Economics, on 7 October 2007 [4]. I just noticed that edit and was planning to restore the correct image but it had already been deleted. Could you undelete the image so that it can be put back into the article? –panda 15:54, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Restored - it lacks a fair use rationale, however - could you please provide one? Миша13 16:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done! Thanks! –panda 16:58, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
