Copyright problem with York School image. edit

Greetings!

You recently uploaded Image:YorkSchool.jpg. However, that image is copied from the school's website [1]. Even if a website does not contain a copyright statement, it does not mean the materials on that site are in the public domain and can be used freely wherever a person so chooses. I've placed the image for deletion, listing it at Wikipedia:Copyright_problems#July_28. Wikipedia:Copyrights#Image_guidelines may be of assistance to you in showing why this is a problem.

I encourage your active participation and contributions to Wikipedia. Just be careful about violating copyright. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. --Durin 17:45, 28 July 2005 (UTC)Reply

Don Mosebar edit

Hello. I checked the article you created on Mosebar, which seems very good to me. I just want to remind you to be careful with acronyms like UCS, which you used in this article. Lots of people won't be aware that it refers to the University of Southern California (and not, for instance, to the University of South Carolina or any other institution in the whole world that may go by those initials). It is better to avoid such acronyms and spell out the institution's entire name. JoaoRicardo 05:09, 11 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image Tagging Image:Whittierlaw.jpg edit

This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Whittierlaw.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Peter Mel edit

I have placed a tag on the article Peter Mel, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. I did this because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Peter Mel is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Peter Mel. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. --Hurricane111 23:07, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mehudson. I was looking over some of your edits, like your last one where you added seven links that were either not necessary, or that pointed to the wrong destination. Would you please take a few minutes to look over Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context and Wikipedia:Manual of Style (dates and numbers). The key part of the latter is avoid overlinking dates. Thanks. ×Meegs 01:23, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Hi Mehudson. When you're making infoboxes for football players, would you mind not abbreviating the player positions. Thanks, and keep up the good work. ×Meegs 10:05, 7 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Tamtriken.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Tamtriken.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:05, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Matt Toeaina edit

A tag has been placed on Matt Toeaina, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Little context in Dane Uperesa edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Dane Uperesa, by Truthanado, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Dane Uperesa is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Dane Uperesa, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Dane Uperesa itself. Dane Uperesa edit

You removed the speedy-delete tag from the Dane Uperesa article, which is not the way Wikipedia works. I have restored the tag on the grounds that this article is about a person who is not noteworthy ... he has just been drafted into the NFL and it is premature to consider this person notable and worthy of a Wikipedia article. Please read the NFL Draft 2007 section on this User talk page. I ask you to please follow the instructions in the speedy-delete box by stating reasons why this article should remain, in particular, you should not just delete the tag:

If this page does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself. If you created this page and you disagree with this page’s proposed speedy deletion, please add (in addition to the speedy deletion template):

   {{hangon}}

to the top of the article page below this tag, and then explain why you believe this article should not be deleted on its talk page.

Then, a Wikipedia administrator will review and make a decision. Please note that I am not an administrator and I will not be the one deleting the article if that is what is decided. Truthanado 01:48, 28 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please do not convert articles to disambiguation pages without fixing all of the links to the orginal page so that they go to the new one you moved the content to. Get over yourself SMcCandish. Learn to talk respectfully to people. There was nothing disrepectful about my message to you (unlike your reply). I think you are missing the point. Making DAB pages is not a bad idea. Making DAB pages and doing nothing to clean up afterwards is a very, very bad idea. Hundreds of links that used to go to the correct place now go to a DAB page for no reason other that you simply couldn't be bothered. Proposed deletion of Harry Hiestand edit

The article Harry Hiestand has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced since 2007; notability therefore unclear

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Proposed deletion of Will Harris (american football) edit

The article Will Harris (american football) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Airplaneman 22:58, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Sarah Walgren edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sarah Walgren requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Eeekster (talk) 02:21, 11 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of John Paul Mitchell Systems edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on John Paul Mitchell Systems, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. DGG ( talk ) 02:49, 27 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
