Speedy deletion of "Isaac Roach" edit

A page you created, Isaac Roach, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, organisation, or web content, but does not indicate why its subject is important or significant.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.

Thank you. Jayson (talk) 04:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Thomas Hale Boggs, Jr. edit

A tag has been placed on Thomas Hale Boggs, Jr. requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. ÆÅM «(fætsøn!) 03:57, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Seat08.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Seat08.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by STBotI. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 05:23, 22 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Gene-fisher01.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Gene-fisher01.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:02, 9 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Radiant chains (talk) 09:02, 9 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:JohnLukas.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:JohnLukas.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 09:38, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Irish Poker Open winners edit

A tag has been placed on Irish Poker Open winners, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Spring Rubber (talk) 02:33, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've declined this deletion as its clearly a list of poker winners. I've also converted it into a table and started adding year of winning as a list needs more detail than just the names. Cheers and happy editing ϢereSpielChequers 09:42, 15 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unreferenced BLPs edit

Hello Markvo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 938 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Lee Salem - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Peter Vilandos - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Proposed deletion of J. C. Pearson (poker player) edit

The article J. C. Pearson (poker player) has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Stickee (talk) 03:08, 28 July 2010 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Please read wp:SUBCAT. For Chester Arthur, there's no need to add the President Category, since he's already in the Republican Presidents of US Category. Thanks. --CutOffTies (talk) 22:16, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Categorization edit

I see that you've been asked to pay attention to this before, so I'm going to begin by stressing that it's very important that you understand this going forward: it is not necessary to add people to a broad category that already parents a more specific category that the person is already in. For instance, Ernest M. McSorley does not belong directly in Category:Canadian people, as he's already in Category:Canadian sailors — in fact, Category:Canadian people is supposed to be entirely empty of individual people; as much as possible people should be subcategorized more specifically, such as by occupation or by the specific place in Canada they came from, instead of being filed directly in the broadest category. Proposed deletion of Catherine Brown (poker player) edit

The article Catherine Brown (poker player) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Against general notability guideline ; WP:N

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
