Proposed deletion of Dormitories in Lyon edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Dormitories in Lyon, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. History of Lyon edit

Copying articles in their entirety over from other wikis is not helpful; somebody still has to go through and translate and reference it. Please try and translate your work if you are going to keep doing this. Ironholds (talk) 18:23, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Very well. In future, if you could do this in your userspace rather than as an article? Thanks, Ironholds (talk) 18:58, 8 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

May 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit you made to the page 1st arrondissement has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thank you. Tiderolls 01:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page 2nd arrondissement. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you. Tiderolls 01:09, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I reverted these edits due to the fact that your performed a page blanking with no explanation. There may have been a valid reason for this action, but without explanation the edits appear vandalistic. Please let me know if I have reverted you in error. Thank you. Tiderolls 01:12, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply
I see you included an edit summary with your reversion of my revert. I'm thinking that a disambiguation page leading to the various arrondissement (I'm unsure of the French plural) would be a better solution than blanking the redirects. Please let me know what you think. Thank you. Tiderolls 01:15, 16 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

(OD) One minor concern. Some of the contents of your dab pages are not Wiki links. That may be confusing. How about linking to the municipality that contains the info on the arrondissement...for example the arrondissement of Marseille are listed in the article Marseille. Just a thought. I have created the template {{Lyon Metro icon}}, which when called, gives the results     . I did this by copying the template from the French Wikipedia. However, I also improved it in the process, by using one instead of two templates. Arsenikk (talk) 19:20, 22 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Infoboxtransportslyon.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Infoboxtransportslyon.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

Speedy deletion nomination of 5th arrondissement of Lyon edit

A tag has been placed on 5th arrondissement of Lyon, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Template edit

Hi Lulu ! Sorry, I'm not an expert of Wikipedia, although I've been on Wikipedia for 1 year and 6 months, so I don't know how to do... It seems to me that traditionnally the portal templates must be small on WP:en, as I've seen it everytime. Again, sorry for not being able to help you more and sorry for my bad English (French is my native language) ! Cheers, Europe22 (talk) 20:33, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I'm sorry, I'd like to help but I'm not exactly sure what kind of template you're looking for, and what you want it to do. Could you provide a link to an example on the French wikipedia? --Brian Olsen (talk) 23:21, 23 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I think I understand what you're looking for - you want a template that would link to Portal:Lyon, that would be placed at the bottom of Lyon related pages, yes? I see how this is done on the French Wikipedia, but it's not done that way on the English Wikipedia. Instead, links to Portal pages are on the Talk pages, and are usually included in the template for the related WikiProject. For example, if you look at Talk:Arc de Triomphe, you'll see the box at the top of the page saying that the page falls under the scope of WikiProject France, and inside that box is a link to Portal:France. Below that is a box for WikiProject Architecture, and a link to Portal:Architecture. My suggestion would be to talk to the people at WikiProject:France, and see if there is interest in setting up a sub-project for Lyons; that seems to be the best way to spread a link to the Lyons Portal. I hope that's helpful! --Brian Olsen (talk) 22:26, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Page move edit

I see you have once again moved the article Economy of Paris to a new name without telling anymore beforehand. Please do not move articles without discussing the move on the talk page before, especially when it concerns an important article such as this one. Just like any author editor, you do not own Wikipedia or any of its articles, so you have to discuss moves like that with other editors on the talk page before. August 2009 edit

In a recent edit to the page Lyon, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. Favonian (talk) 12:39, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (File:Infoboxtransportslyon.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Infoboxtransportslyon.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 22:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

French language, multiple consecutive edits, edit summaries edit

Salut Lulu, et merci pour vos contributions! I'd like to make a couple suggestions, if you don't mind. Please keep article text in English (for example, the image captions in Rhône-Alpes). If you want help with any wording in English, ask one of us native English speakers for input, ok? Also, please keep this in mind: it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits a minute or two apart on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. It also helps if you provide an edit summary. Thanks in advance for considering this, et bonne continuation!

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Cour Lafayettelyon.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Cour Lafayettelyon.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ww2censor (talk) 05:36, 1 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Proposed deletion of Mobiville edit

The article Mobiville has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No sources, not notable, might not even exist (DuckDuckGo turns up a website…devoted to French governmental subsidies for changing homes)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
