Proposed deletion of Gwendolyn Cartledge edit

The article Gwendolyn Cartledge has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

New BLP sourced only to the subject's own work; notability therefore unclear.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. AfD Nomination: Edward Gary Carr, Mary Margaret Kerr, and Steven Forness edit

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, but all Wikipedia articles must meet our criteria for inclusion (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Since it does not seem that the above articles meet these criteria, an editor has started a discussion about whether these articles should be kept or deleted.

Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at the respective discussions, links following:

Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them.

Discussions such as these usually last seven days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). When the discussion has concluded, a neutral third party will consider all comments and decide whether or not to delete the article. Dennis The Tiger (Rawr and stuff) 16:12, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hangon tags edit

To Whom It Concerns. Thank you for your assistance; however we have concerns regarding your 3 comments listed below. We hope we can clarify by our responses below.

  • 1) Our material is not copyrighted. We hold the copyright to the Leaders Project and thus can site work from our own website. If needed we can complete the appropriate form to support that fact. However we can not find that form nor do we know where to submit that form. It is important to note that the biographies uploaded to Wikipedia are also uploaded on our personal website which might be where Wikipedia reviewers' confusion arose from.
  • 2) We formatted our articles following Donald Baer's Wikipedia site. Thus we are puzzled with the format and notability comment. As modeled on Baer's site - we not only describe these scholars contribution to the field via publication but also represent their status as full-time professors who are recognized world-wide. More simply, each our articles presents biographical information on top scholars in the field of Emotional and Behavioral Disorders in Children and Youth and/or Special Education. Therefore their notability is established. Also with regard to the reviewers' concerns on format, we not only reviewed "Your first article" but also formatted our articles, inclusive of using the same headers, as an already approved Wikipedia article. Finally it should be noted that Baer's site references his own work, which is why our Leaders Project articles followed the same protocol.
  • 3) As for neutral tone - we can edit our language; however again we wrote these articles in association with how language was presented on Donald Baer's site.

So we understand the peacock issue and will work to address more neutral language in our pieces. However we remain confused regarding the issues of formatting, notability and copyrighting. We look forward to hearing how you think we can proceed to assure our articles are approved. Regards.

Hangon tags edit

I have removed two "hangon" tags from this page - this is not the place for them, you should place them at the top of the article concerned. Some brief advice, as you seem to be having some trouble with your early articles:

If Michael Wallace Nelson is kept, the title can easily be changed to C. Michael Nelson; but it appears that the present version is a copyright violation. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 14:27, 9 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Gwendolyn Cartledge edit

The article Gwendolyn Cartledge has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one.
