Wikipedia and copyright
editHello Kwikwivk! Your additions to Macular degeneration have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. DanCherek (talk) 03:44, 15 March 2022 (UTC)
Thank you for your remind. I am still learning to edit Wikipedia and realise that copyright infringement is important. I will improve in the future. Kwikwivk (talk) 08:04, 18 March 2022 (UTC)

Biobay Suzhou moved to draftspace
editAn article you recently created, Biobay Suzhou, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. All my content are form websites which I have put in reference. What should I do to make it suitable to publish? Kwikwivk (talk) 06:26, 21 March 2022 (UTC)

This edit of yours copied a rather lengthy passage verbatim from https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/244458.
The source says Dr. Jorge Serrador, a cardiovascular electronics researcher, highlighted research in The FASEB Journal (April 2012 Issue), which explained that, until now, scientists have not been able to fully understand what causes brain freeze.
Your edit said Dr. Jorge Serrador, a cardiovascular electronics researcher, highlighted research in The FASEB Journal (April 2012 Issue), which explained that, until now, scientists have not been able to fully understand the exact causes of brain freeze.
The only difference between the two is that you replaced "what causes" with "the exact causes of". This is not acceptable. TompaDompa (talk) 00:43, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

editHello, I'm Tow. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Insomnia, but you didn't provide a source. If you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Tow (talk) 04:12, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Insomnia. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Your use of English grammar is generally weak, and your edits are careless. You should practice in your sandbox, and can get help with writing at the Teahouse, WP:HELP. Zefr (talk) 05:54, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

editThank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as ADAMTS14. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 20:27, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

If this was the first article that you created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
The page Draft:Biobay Suzhou has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Managing a conflict of interest
editHello, Kwikwivk. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:21, 18 September 2022 (UTC)
