Admin Coaching program

I have signed up for Admin Coaching, and would like to know if you would volunteer to coach me in hopes of working to become an administrator some day. Hopefully, with some good advice, I will be able to make the improvements necessary to allow it to happen. Thanks for the offer. I was nominated by a friend of mine some time ago, but I did not pass, for various reasons. He is willing to do so again, but we can discuss this at the conclusion of the program. I am glad that my answers seem reasonable. I am sure that if they want to know more, they can ask other questions like they have done in other RfA requests.

One other thought, how should I correspond with you? should I keep coming back here or is there something better that I can do? I have found my watchlist very useful in tracking vandalism, and page changes that I should be aware of. Any subpage of my user page is watchlisted automatically, so it is already there, if you wish to communicate that way. Or, we can continue with talk pages. It doesn't really matter to me. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Cowne

Please tell me which part of Wikipedia:Speedy keep justifies closing this nomination early. The man played three games twenty years ago. There is NOTHING, ZERO, ZILCH publicly available about him with which to write a biographical article. He wasn't a skill player so we don't even have statistics to talk about. WP:BIO has a section on athletes, stating: Competitors and coaches who have competed in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, golf or tennis. (are notable, that is).   jj137 ^♠ 02:54, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

That's an argument you are perfectly free to make in the discussion. It does not justify early closure. Wikipedia:Speedy keep gives four reasons for closing a discussion as a speedy keep. There are other issues with an article like this beyond WP:BIO, specifically, WP:NOTABILITY#General notability guideline. The subject has received no independent coverage beyond mere mention of his existence in an exhaustive list of players, or, at least, not any that is demonstrable. If a non-stub can never be written, there is no reason to keep it around. If an article existed on the 1987 Washington Redskins (which it probably should - they won the superbowl that year), I'd just redirect it there, but that's not a possibility. --B (talk) 03:00, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Again, all of that is something you are free to discuss in the discussion, but not a cause for cutting off discussion. Except for a bad faith nomination, nomination by a banned user, etc, there is no cause for cutting it off TWO HOURS after it was opened. Heck, an admin was desysopped for doing that with the Daniel Brandt DRV. Being an admin isn't a blank check to declare your !vote to be more important than everyone else's !vote. --B (talk) 03:07, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Rollback request

Hi. You are on the list of admins prepared to grant rollback requests, hence this message. I am in Indonesia and am a member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Indonesia. Many of the pages I watch and have edited are frequent targets of vandalism from people within the same timezone and I spend quite a lot of time reverting such attacks. I keep my watchlist open while I am at work, and it would be very useful if I were able to use rollback to revert vandalism more rapidly than the other group members in Europe or Australia. If you click on a diff, history, etc. you will see a rollback button. If you click on it it will automatically revert all of the edits by the last person to the edits by the person before that. Request for semi-protection for Emmett Chappelle

I was manually monitering the recent changes and I came across this page. After reverting the vandalism I saw there, I noticed there was quite a bit of unremoved vandalism on the page and I proceeded to remove that as well. While I was doing this, the page got vandalized twice!! Anyway, I think this (and a quick peek at the page's history) would be enough to call for a semi-protection even though this person is not very well known. Thanks for the help. Rudget!

Dear Jj137, my sincere thanks for your support in my second request for adminship, which ended with 113 supports, 11 opposes, and 4 neutral. I would especially like to thank my admin coach and nominator, Rlevse and Ryan Postlethwaite who in addition to Ioeth all inspired me to run for a second candidacy. I would also like to make a special mention to Phoenix-wiki, Dihyrdogen Monoxide and OhanaUnited who all offered to do co-nominations, but I unfortunately had to decline. I had all these funny ideas that it would fail again, and I was prepared for the worst, but at least it showed that the community really does have something other places don't. Who would have though Gmail would have been so effective? 32 emails in one week! (Even if it does classify some as junk :P) I'm glad that I've been appointed after a nail biting and some might call, decision changing RFA, but if you ever need anything, just get in touch. Well, JJBot was just approved yesterday, but that was only for WP:SOX newsletter. If I wanted it to do the same thing for your WikiProject, I could just open another RFBA and then if it was approved it could deliver for that project too. Optionally, there are some other delivery bots such as User:BrownBot and User:DeliveryBot which will, I think, deliver for any project. Whichever works best; the reason I chose to use my own bot for the WP:SOX delivery instead of some other bot was because then I could customize the requests myself, etc. as well as the fact I'm more familiar with that newsletter than some other random person. S/he's baa-aaaack! (Dodge Dart)

Hi, Jj137. Remember the unregistered editor who was making a mess of Dodge Lancer and Plymouth Valiant? Well, it's taken longer than I expected, but sure enough, as I predicted, s/he's now making exactly the same kind of mess in Dodge Dart. Guideline-compliant images replaced with this editor's pet (and really bad, and noncompliant, and grabbed off the web) images, numerous sequential one-word and one-sentence edits (and some much more substantial disruptions including addition of unencyclopædic material) made in an apparent effort to thwart cleanup, etc. See here...no fewer than seventeen sequential edits of this type. I'm not perfectly clear on the protocol...do I need to go request indefinite semi-protection as has been applied to the other two car articles, or can an administrator such as yourself just swoop in and do it? I agree with you. A sock puppetry accusation would be premature, and while it seems likely the "two" contributors are likely the same character, I'm definitely not certain of it. I think probably the best course of action is indefinite semiprotection of Dodge Dart. That way, the nonrego editor cannot contribute. At that point, whether Semi Gloss is in fact 69.2xx.xxx.xxx is not very important, for if s/he continues to be disruptive or otherwise problematic, s/he is subject to censure and behavioural corrections that cannot practically be enforced against IP-only contributors. If after the article is semiprotected we start seeing a pattern definitely indicative of sock puppetry (Semi Gloss gets blocked, and immediately the same kind of edit shows up from another newly-registered user) then that would be an appropriate time to pursue that, as it seems.
