Imran Khan

Your edits (here and here) at the Imran Khan article were mistaken. The article had been stable for years with "Indian origin" when a sockpuppet disrupted it with their WP:OR and likely WP:HOAX. This edit summary is clearly wrong, firstly Khan is a common surname among Muslims in India and more importantly that is not his original surname, it comes from his Indian mother's side (not Pakistani) who is related to the Indian actor Aamir Khan (as stated in the article). His original surname is Pal which comes from is father, again an Indian who studied at IIT Bombay with her brother Mansoor Khan (a relative of Aamir). I have now cited and added this bit.

Please do due diligence than incorrectly restoring edits by socks. Thank You. Gotitbro (talk) 13:06, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

I really don't care who he is or where he came from. I saw some editwarring going on regarding his origin and sought to maintain neutrality. On another note, I don't appreciate the condescending tone saying that I do not do 'due diligence.' I said in my editsum that it was dubious and invited discussion. Your revert at Balts

Hello. I was reviewing this diff when you reverted the change. Your edit summary states that don't think Poles are baltic, which is true, but the text "Poles" is added to "Slavs" under "Related ethnic groups", and Poles are indeed Slavs, so I think the revert might be a mistake. What do you think? ~ Ase1estet@lkc0ntribs 15:56, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

You are right, @Aseleste:. I misread where they placed the info. I will add it back. Thanks! Jip Orlando (talk) 15:58, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

Yes I’m sorry my Lithuanian grandfather just felt like the poles were like brothers to him I’m sorry. They were like brothers throughout history. Adam Lietuva (talk) 20:26, 10 February 2021 (UTC)

Tim Ryan

Just wanted to let you know that the assertion that Zetts is Rep. Ryan's second wife is supported by a reference later on in the same sentence; that's why I accepted that pending change. I have invoked the citation after the semicolon for clarity.

Sdrqaz (talk) 00:05, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

OK, sounds good. IP edit warring over something that isn't immediately obvious on a BLP gives me pause, though. Jip Orlando (talk) 13:03, 6 April 2021 (UTC)
Jip, that's fair enough but I suppose that's why the page was put under pending-changes protection: to provide that extra layer of scrutiny before the changes are published. Sdrqaz (talk) 14:56, 6 April 2021 (UTC)

Small suggestion

Hi! You recently closed a discussion at ANI as it had moved to COIN. I was wondering if you could alter the link in the closing statement to guide editors directly to the thread within COIN to make navigation there easier. Hope you have a good weekend, Santacruz Please ping me! 01:38, 18 December 2021 (UTC)

Olivia Scott Welch

Hi there! The actrees herself have said recently her birthday date (February 11th) is a "mistake online" on her verified Instagram account (@welchwelchwelchwelch). Also, in February 10th she reposted birthday wishes in her instastories from her co-stars in Fear Street trilogy (Emily Rudd @emilysteaparty and Ryan Simpkins @ryan_the_ryan), and Jessi Sula from Panic' series (@jessisula). So I believe the edits were right but I will only remove the 11th, per what I said at the start of My message. Best regards. --Miaow 19:37, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Okay by me, Miaow, help yourself. The rest of the editor's edits over there were unsourced and unhelpful, if you look at the history. Jip Orlando (talk) 19:52, 11 February 2022 (UTC)
Yes I know, but I researched about it and that's the info I get. Have a nice day! Miaow 19:57, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Ask

Hey Jip Orlando! Can you add text "May 5Vanessa Bryant, American philanthropist, business executive, and former model" into the section "Births → May" of the article 1982? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Phtienthinh2000 (talkcontribs) 15:04, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Done, @Phtienthinh2000:, added with citation. I used the shortdesc in the article for the descriptor. In the future, you can do this yourself with a little research. Best regards, Jip Orlando (talk) 16:11, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sitae Alhven Dam

It seems it's one of 400+ similar seasonal water dam in Saudi Arabia, used for irrigation. No source available for its current use/whereabouts/origin. So yes it's not notable.
I created this article because at the time, the google map (or google earth, don't remember which) image of it was a full body of water in the middle of a desert, a kind of eye-catching feature. That prodded me to find more about it, and discover it was a dam in the middle of the desert.
Maybe the best place for it would be to be listed (with geo coords?) in the article List of dams in Saudi Arabia.
--Zeugma fr (talk) 02:10, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

I was looking around if I was able to find some sources (just in case I missed something really important), and found that most of the dams in Category:Dams_in_Saudi_Arabia are actually the same as the one I wrote: a one-liner, nearly all of them are for water management purpose, and nearly all have as source/reference a Scribd paywalled document that is only a list of dams. So, I'm not invocating a Pikachu defense here, but shouldn't all these dam been regrouped under a more general article like "Water management in Saudi Arabia" or something like this ? -- Zeugma fr (talk) 11:59, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
I was wondering the same thing about it's purpose, Zeugma fr. I figured as well that it was some sort of torrential rain management system. To the heart of the matter: I read through the references in the article List of dams in Saudi Arabia and they are in very poor shape. Two are 404'd and the last is an exposition on water management. Arguably useful to the list. Still, per WP:SOURCELIST, it is generally considered a criteria for inclusion to have at least one reliable source. The notability criterion I used for analyzing this specific dam was WP:NBUILDING, specifically point 3: artificial features related to infrastructure. Where their notability is unclear, they are generally redirected to more general articles. However, there are no such redirects to the Dams in Saudi Arabia page, and the list guideline asks for at least one source. Additionally, I doubt the articles that have that paywalled document as a single source would survive AfD, with many being blank-and-redirected. I'd like to see if anyone has an objection to the PROD because our guidelines on these things are a bit hazy. I mean, WP:NOTINDISCRIMINATE is a thing and we don't have an article on every single piece of infrastructure. If it had some sort of notable coverage or was designed by a leading architect, or something, I'm sure it would be notable. Right now, I don't think it is. Best regards, Jip Orlando (talk) 13:33, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
So yes, we are on the same page, this one has to be removed (per WP:GNG: nothing special about it). At the end of the 7 days, if you don't do it, I'll put a speedy del in.
For the most general problem of water management dam in Saudi Arabia, I found this: Fanack Water which could make a basis for rewriting (they have sources, I'm just not sure about their neutrality on the subject), and this: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia- UNDP.
Also King Saud University seems to have a department dedicated to water ressources management, but I have the impression that the list on scribd is actually part of the working papers of the professor in charge, so it's basically paywalled.
I'll put a copy of our exchange in the talk page of List of dams in Saudi Arabia, just to keep an archive of it linked to the subject.
Cheers, -- Zeugma fr (talk) 11:45, 26 March 2022 (UTC)

Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made to Michael Owen: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. Blanchey (talk) 22:25, 21 June 2022 (UTC)

Meh. @Blanchey:, when it's something as juvenile as changing a last name to 'Doodoo' I usually just revert and deny recognition. And this template is a 'warning' to post to vandal's talk pages? Waste of time and bytes. Drive-by nonsense like this are usually one-offs. Jip Orlando (talk) 23:36, 21 June 2022 (UTC)
Fair enough, I just wasn't sure if you knew about them, that's all!   Blanchey (talk) 07:28, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
