October 2016 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Encores! has been reverted.
Your edit here to Encores! was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLqOMOUf0Kk) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 20:11, 26 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Please remember to use an edit summary edit

Hi Jessatwing, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your helpful edits. Please remember that all edits need to have an edit summary explaining what you did and why. The edit summary field is right below the editing window, and should be filled out before you click "Save Changes". Edits which lack edit summaries are likely to be reverted. Thank you, and happy editing! Softlavender (talk) 02:49, 28 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Conflict of interest edit

Hi. Your username indicates that you probably work at American Theatre Wing, so I just wanted to make you aware of our policies on editing with a conflict of interest and on paid editing. I haven't examined your contributions to see if there have been any specific problems, but just the names of the articles and drafts you've worked on raise the possibility of problems. Please read both of these policies thoroughly, and be careful to comply with them. You could start by putting something on your user page which states that you work for and are paid by ATW, but that you intend to follow all Wikipedia policies, including that of writing with a neutral point of view. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:03, 24 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ken. Thank you for bringing this up. I have started a Userpage with states my affiliation. Having read your page, I know what it's like to have connections across our industry. I don't know how to note but would like to that none of the articles / drafts have been requested by anyone including my supervisors. This is an independent effort to expand the who is "notable" in our industry. Jessatwing (talk) 17:11, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Jessatwing: Thanks for responding so quickly and so willingly. In my opinion, the declaration you've put on your user page fulfills the requirements of WP:COI and WP:PAID, so you should be able to continue your editing and improving Wikipedia. Just be extra careful to maintain a neutral point of view and avoid promotionalism and peacock words in your writing, and you should be fine. I'm not an administrator here, but I am a long-term editor with a fair amount of name recognition within the community, so if you run into trouble, please feel free to drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be glad to come by and help out if I can. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:22, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
Oh, one other thing - you probably should take a look at WP:GNG, which lays out our general requirements for notability. Not everyone is notable enough to have a Wikipedia article, but understanding GNG will help you in crafting articles which show the subject's notability to its best advantage. There are also specific notability standards for performers etc, which you can link to from that page. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:25, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Jessatwing, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Jessatwing|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Curb Safe Charmer (talkcontribs) 04:48, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

@Curb Safe Charmer: I think the declaration that Jessatwing has placed on their user page fulfills the requirements of WP:PAID. Beyond My Ken (talk) 21:17, 25 October 2017 (UTC)Reply
