Speedy deletion nomination of RJ Parker

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on RJ Parker requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 19:39, 5 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited RJ Parker, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages St. John's and True Crime (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of RJ Parker

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on RJ Parker, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Deleted article

edit

I'm sorry for the confusion, but the problem here is that none of the sources in the article really helped to show that the issues brought up at the prior AfD were met. The person who accepted the article really should not have done as such and I'll speak to them about that. The problem is, we have some very real issues with people accepting articles at AfC that do not meet notability standards, and acceptance through AfC does not necessarily guarantee that the article actually passes notability guidelines. It would have been more appropriate for him to have taken a look at the page and then asked the closing admin about the AfD to see if the standards for notability were met. Basically, running it through AfC does not guarantee that it will pass notability guidelines because we have a big, big problem with people accepting articles that have no place being accepted in the first place. For that matter, I don't see that you made any changes to the article at all, so you really should have gone through Wikipedia:Deletion review as opposed to posting the unchanged article through AfC. As for the serial killer anthology, claiming to be the first to do something doesn't actually guarantee notability - nor that someone is actually the first to do something. Even if Parker was the first to make such an anthology, it would have to get a LOT of coverage to show that this anthology is notable. This means that you'd have to show where the anthology received a lot of coverage in reliable sources... but then that would mean that we'd be able to assert notability for the anthology but not for Parker himself. We'd have to have coverage in multiple independent and reliable sources, which I just didn't see on the article. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 04:02, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

To add to this. So far, only the Psychology Today article is a decent source. You might look at examples from the the category of non-fiction crime writers to get an idea of what kinds of sources are needed. To shown notability (that this author deserves a page), you're going to need *multiple* different good sources (not blogs & self-published sources & not PRweb and other press release sites), to meet WP:AUTHOR. In a brief look, the only other reasonable source I've found so far is a very brief mention of his newest by Publisher's Weekly. Do you have any better references? If you want help let me know... Jodi.a.schneider (talk) 08:23, 21 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
I'm trying to work on getting different and more reliable sources. I have some information that his book is part of a course list for the University of Utah, which seems to be pretty important [1] . I saw the publishers weekly, but it is a pay site, so I'm not sure how to reference that? There is also this: [2] which, although isn't much, it does state, at the bottom, that he gives his books away freely to police, fire fighters, military, etc. Which in of itself, seems pretty notable. Your draft article, Draft:RJ Parker

edit

Hello, Jasonwilczak. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "RJ Parker".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by one of two methods (don't do both): 1) follow the instructions at WP:REFUND/G13, or 2) copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Draft:RJ Parker}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, and click "Save page". An administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 20:01, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
