I considered it as vandalism since those links were to unknown airlines, like poodleair (returned no google results: here). I believed that these were false airlines, google search did not return a result, and there is no article named Poodleair. Therefore I considered it vandalism. No, I'll reply here. I'm not out to get you - only respond to your comments. Using a Wikipedia essay as an excuse over the numerous guidelines and policies on Wikipedia does not justify anything. All I've done was copy and paste the top box of the essay you've been citing so much. You need mount yourself a more compelling argument towards your cause - not bicker with other editors who respond to your comments with accusations of stalking and not assuming good faith. I have not examined WP:NOT's edit history in detail yet, but having the deadline portion "used to be" there really does not change anything. The fact is, your citation off of a Wikipedia essay is not a valid explanation nor is it a policy to keep. And since this AfD revolves a time period after the deadline portion moved to an essay and not a guideline, it has no basis for a keep vote. I'm not interested in why the essay was moved to its current location, but I am wondering if you're actually going to make a compelling argument on why each of SUs on AfD are notable. Just focus on that and stop making accusations on people stalking you and not assuming good faith. It makes you sound unfriendly and hard to work with. List of Fraternities and Sororities at George Mason University -- afd

I closed as no consensus, but acknowledged that there is consensus to retain the information, either at an expanded article or merge back to the main. I'd suggest raising a discussion on the article talk page about the way forward rather than another AfD. Gnangarra 08:15, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

University of Florida Division of Continuing Education

• I disagree with your opinion that this article has notability issues. This is just like any other College or School that has been created for the University of Florida. The only difference is that it's offered in a non-traditional format, and some of the degree programs are being facilitated via distance learning. This is a legitiate division that receives funding from the Legislature just like any other school, in addition it has it's very own Dean to carry out the day to day operations. To be honest, some of the degree programs being facilitated in this Division are the only one of it's kind being offered by the university, and therefore is extremely notable so that prospective students might be able to learn about these unique opportunities.
• Lastly, I believe that non-traditional programs get a bad rap because they are new, and that they do not fall under the cookie cutter version of what a tradition academic program should encompass. This is simply an old paradigm that will take time to dissipate, and I firmly believe that Wikipedia can help to shed some light on this new method of instruction. • As I said before, your best option is to establishing notability via in-line citations from reliable third-party sources. I understand your viewpoint as well as your reasons to have an article in this division. However, you must also note colleges ("faculties" in UK) and other academic programs that had articles on Wikipedia that were AfDed. I'm not trying to nominate the article for deletion here, but it won't stop others from doing so. And to prove to you just what I'm talking about, please read what happened to the article I tried to create myself last year Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Florida Institute of Technology/College of Engineering. I would suggest you do something similar to what I did (group all of the otherwise non-notable colleges together and internally link the notable ones). Please let me know if you have any further questions. Let me make this clear, I'm not out to get you or to derail your WikiProject, just letting you know something's getting slightly "gray". I wasn't trying to single out the continuing education division either, it just caught my eye when I was looking at WP:NPP. I've been reviewing some of the other college articles you've created, and I'm afraid some of them have similar notability issues. Please see if you can establish notability of them too. Thank you for so quickly commenting on my page. I realize that wikipedia is a completely open editing website. The little disclaimer at the top is merely to allow my project team to get all of our efforts on the page before it is edited by the rest of the community (even though I realize that there is no stopping them). Some admin coaching!

I bet you thought I'd forgotten about you but really I've been bogged down with uni-work. You said earlier that you were interested in AfDs so how about some practice closes? Try closing these (templates and all) and I'll provide commentary. I chose more difficult ones because the clear cut results don't require practice. Note that when closing you must remove the line that says: {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD|X}} but in these cases I have already removed them to prevent my subpages appearing in the AfD log. That's the bit I forget most often. The 3rd is becoming increasingly common; people with notability for one event. I'm not going to say wrong or right, just say what I would have done as all of these are open to interpretation. I've only copied accross 3 so far so take a crack! • Goblin chronicles - I agree with your no consensus close on this one. The references added aren't very good but if they exist there might be more.
• Lisa jennings - I disagree here; I would have deleted. What you said in your closing summary is correct but I don't think there would be much left after the un-reference-able original research was removed. That's not to say you're wrong, I might be more deletionist than you and there are definitely loads of people who would have closed the same way. It will be interesting to see how someone else closes it.
• Kristin Davis (prostitute) - Definitely agree, I doubt we'll ever hear of her again. James086^{Talk | Email} 09:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Also I just read over your recent 500 contribs and the following speedies were turned down:

• Ronny van Dyke - Close, there is a weak assertion of notability and I may or may not have deleted.
• Kimo nz - I can't see an assertion so I'll ask the admin who declined.
• Tora (alice nine) - I would have nom'd for AfD because it is a notable person (being a member of the band) but there wasn't any worthwhile content.
• Psychostats - Software isn't eligible for speedy deletion under A7 (unfortunately) so it should have been PROD or AfD.

I think you're tagging quite well with a high rate of success (is that the right word?). Anyway, I think the only thing preventing a successful RfA now is time. Early May (3 months since your first) seems to be the time people think is acceptable and I definitely think you'll pass then. James086^{Talk | Email} 09:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

• Woohoo! :D To tell you the truth I was in a really good mood while doing the Lisa Jennings article. I agree that most likely I would have deleted it. The main reason I didn't want to delete it was because I did find a lot on "Ito En" in the Japanese Google Search. However, my rusty Japanese skills couldn't sift through it well enough to make sure they were talking about the tea and not the girl... Since I did see a blog which I could decipher out that there was a reference on the girl, I actually gave the article the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure if I was supposed to do that. I agree with the CSDs you've referenced. The problem with these CSDs is that I tag them when they first click on Submit. Many times the articles I tag are just incomplete and I don't see their finish product. Most of the time I do go back to my watchlist and make sure the articles are CSDed or else I'd reevaluate and AfD them. (I do the same with prods). BYU flagship

Hello, apparently Wrad contacted you about my edits. Wrad objected to me calling BYU the "flagship" of the Mormon church. He wanted official sources for this appellation. He rejected my unofficial sources. But now I have found some sources that are pretty official; they are quotes from some Mormon leaders. The term "flagship" does not only apply to public universities. The website dictionary.reference.com has the following for definition #4 for "flagship": "4. the best or most important one of a group or system: This store is the flagship of our retail chain." Also, I found quotes from some high-level Mormon leader referring to the idea of BYU being the flagship of the Mormon church.JackWilliams (talk) 22:31, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

I'm not going to attempt to tell you this again about quoting random people. I am not going to argue with dictionary.com. However, I will use the definition of flagship university for my argument. Unless you can reach consensus (not by just editing that article to fit your personal needs) with the editors on that article, usage of the term flagship on a parallel interface that states that a flagship university is a public university will be considered incorrect. - Jameson L. Afds and vandalism

I don't know if there is a script that does it; if so then I've been doing it old school. The template used is {{Relist}} and then they copy the name of the afd (i.e. copy {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/foo}}) to today's log. I only tend to use that template when there are only 1 or 2 comments although admittedly I haven't closed an AfD in ages! Oh and with regard to vandalism, I just let it stay; I would prefer they vandalise my userspace to the mainspace and usually once they start on my userpages they keep going until they get blocked. Yeah, I did a google search on it again by changing a couple of parameters and found something slightly more reliable than a myspace page to back the article up, but still the notability on it was marginal during the time when I nominated it. All new pages show up on a main Wikipedia thread. I do apologize if you're mistaken, but I'm not in the assassination business. If you are trying to start an article, I suggest you understand why we delete your articles to start with. Reading and understanding Wikipedia policies and guidelines will help you fix the problems before we see them. If you need to work on an article and it's not done yet, WP:SANDBOX and spots in your userspace serve great places for you to experiment with Wiki code and work on articles without the peer review. Of course they wouldn't exist in the main article webspace, but you should be able to work on them enough until you are ready to deploy it as a full-fledged article. - Jameson L. What about this language for the common deletion outcomes?

Proposed Language: "UK and Canadian University or college student unions tend to survive AfD, but American student governments tend not to survive AFD without significant secondary coverage."

Personally I don't like generalizations like that. It gives people like GreenJoe (not a personal attack here) an excuse to keep a UK/Canadian Student Union, saying it should follow suit of the other many UK and Canadian SUs.

How about "UK and Canadian Student Unions have been quite successful in demonstrating notability than many American Student Unions/Student Governments. However, individual case-by-case demonstration of notability should be the prime determining factor and this common outcome should not be used as "precedence" for future AfDs."

Hi, I didn't see a thread on the bot of T:BYU, so I'll just reply here. I'm wondering what reasons you have for removing the bot at the moment. The reason why I installed it in the first place was to sort out old conversations less than I think it was 7 days to minimize scrolling (old edit wars were bundled with side conversations that were affecting general productivity). It was later on changed by another editor to change the counter to 105 days. Personally, having an automatic archiving bot should not hinder normal talk page operations and I have not heard any complaints regarding the usage of the bot apart from its initial archive during an edit war, something that was fixed weeks ago. I think 105 days is way too long for an article of this magnitude—moreover, any archival period would be difficult with such an article, as I think the editors involved in talk can best determine when text can be archived. I guess I'm just saying that the automation is nice on some articles but not as helpful on this one. The reason why I did not leave a note on the talk page is because I believe the entire article needs to be reworded/copyedited. "Dole Nutrition Institute" and tagging mainstream news

Jamesontai, I would like to take care of your claims regarding the article "Dole Nutrition Institute", but as the article already takes information only from respected “published, third-party sources about the subject”, I am unclear what possible edit could be made to satisfy your intentions.

1) You claim the article needs additional references. The article sites:

- internationally respected news organization: Reuters,

- business publications: BNET Business Network, San Fernando Valley Business Journal,and The Corporate Social Responsibility Newswire

- food and nutrition information sources: Your Health Connection, Food and Drink Quarterly, and Southern Living magazine,

- and professional educators’ website: Education World.

If eight referenced, published, third-party sources are not enough for a one-page article, would you please suggest how many would be? Would fifteen? Thirty?

2) You claim the presence of weasel words but you fail to actually point out any. Any alleged “weasel words” are taken from, as Wikipedia requires, “published, third-party sources about the subject”. Which words do you feel are “weasel” and since they are from mainstream media - short of a tirade against news sources - what addition do you think would balance the words?

3) You complain about the “sound” of the article. If you don’t like the way it reads, again, all information is from published legitimate sources. Perhaps you should take that complaint up with the mainstream media sources themselves, or use the “talk” feature to list specifically what is insidious about Reuters and Southern Living Magazine. My difficulty is that it appears your problem with the chapter is actually a distrust of the newspapers and journals. When even Reuters is not legitimate enough, who is?

Yes, it was very sad. Even worse is that he/she emailed Henrik I. Christensen, a professor at my school whom I've never met, about this, and Henrik forwarded the email to my advisor (?!). I might understand undue weight as a reason as he might not be too interesting a figurehead for international readers, but not "inappropriate". I went through great lengths to write in a neutral tone, neither glorifying nor unfairly attacking him. Thanks for pointing out the broken link. It's what I get for direct copy/paste of code. Not sure how you got blocked since I really don't know who you are or what en-wiki account you got blocked from, but even with the best of intentions, I don't think editing through an anonymous IP will change much after they find out. I hope you are able to somehow reason with the blocking admin or consult with others, however, from the looks of what you just said, you not only got blocked, but banned? Then I think to prevent sticky situations, I think it'd be best to focus your efforts to improve these articles to other editors. If it is not on the article, then it is unreferenced, as I have tagged it. (AKA, there are no proper citations whatsoever.) When citing on Wikipedia articles, be sure to include third-party, neutral, and reliable sources (not just corporate newsletters, primary sources, and news-wires from Reuters). Request to delete page

Article: Pawn Tactics

I'm having a bit of a problem with your automated bot in that article. It appears to be recognizing some of my legitimate edits as "Vandalism" (probably because I forgot to check the 'Minor Edit' box on an edit). VSkyzv (talk) 05:15, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

It is not a bot. Please do not add pawnstudios.com on articles, especially as comments. It is considered as ways to circumvent spam filters from bots and other peer reviewers editing and reviewing all recent edits on Wikipedia. - Jameson L. Tai ^{talk ♦ contribs} 05:27, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't know that it could interfere with bots but I'm happy to learn that. I don't really see the need to revert the entire edit and tag it as vandalism. The original wording could have just been changed, but I'm willing to work out a solution.VSkyzv (talk) 06:01, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

In normal situations, I agree, reverting your particular edit was best because the original wording prior was already detailed enough. It doesn't need to be spelled out the way you wrote it. Your Creeper (comics) undo

I just found your revert of five successive edits by IP 76.252.192.111 to the article Creeper (comics). Having closely examined the "diff" page, I feel that most of it should have been left in place. Of his/her work that you reverted, all that I disagree with is the rendering of the possessive of "Yatz" as "Yatz' " (twice) and the botched Wikilink for Commander Steel. Considering that it is quite possible you have reasons for your en masse revert that I am unaware of, I have as yet done nothing, and await your response to this. Hi, I'm not sure why WP:HG reverted that one either. This might have been one of my edits I tried to ignore, and then HG crashed. I have restored the earlier version, so my edit's been undone. I'm still wondering exactly happened, but I'm going to see if HG logged anything I can review and possibly submit a bug ticket on Wikipedia freenode IRC channel. Thanks for point out that error.
