I noticed that you marked Musō Shinden Eishin-ryū for speedy deletion. You did so, however, after a vandal had completely changed the content of the article. While the original article had numerous problems, it should not be speedy deleted on the basis of a vandalized version. I have restored the original version and contested the speedy deletion. there was also a problem the A1 speedy on Men, Rivers and Canoes . A1, "No context" is only used when it is not possible to tell what the article is about. Whatthis article needs is a merge with the article on the vent it is about, and I have marked it accordingly. Thanks for helping with the West Fork Conservancy getting the edits cleaned up. I am attempting to get the second-to-the-last Angeles National Forest volunteer organization mentioned in Wikipedia, and so I have created the San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders page, if you want to see if I screwed any of that text up enough to warrant some cleaning also.

The last ANF organization which is missing is the biggest one -- the Pacific Crest Trail Association which does not yet have a Wikipedia entry, likely because it's a significant and large volunteer group with a lengthy history, responsbile for over 2600 miles of hiking trail. That's a daunting task to undertake in a day or two, so perhaps that's why their ANF volunteer organization's Wiki page remains un-created, yet I'm going to try to get an initial first-run on creating it some time this week. MoohanBOT question

Regarding your bot request, does the Kingbotk plugin allow the {{WikiProject Biography}} to be the first WikiProject template per Wikipedia:Talk page layout? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 23:41, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi, there isn't an option to choose the ordering of banners in the plugin. From looking at the trial edits it seems that it will add {{WikiProject Biography}} first, but only if it is creating it. If it is just modifying {{WikiProject Biography}} it will not change it's positioning. Also when it is adding new templates ({{WikiProject Kayaking}} or {{WikiProject Water sports}}) it will add those above {{WikiProject Biography}}.

That said, I think it is ok. Since there will always be 2+ WikiProject templates, AWB will add {{WikiProjectBannerShell}} (with the |blp=yes flag where applicable). This forces {{blp}} to appear at the top even though {{WikiProject Biography}} might not be listed as the first banner. I think that brings it inline with the guidance on Wikipedia:Talk page layout, specifically: For biographical articles, {{WikiProject Biography}} usually comes before any other WikiProject banners. Especially when the page is about a living person, WPBiography must come before other WikiProject banners to ensure that the {{blp}} take top billing. --Jamesmcmahon0 (talk) 05:35, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi Jamesmcmahon0 – you are the second editor to "correct" Bendigo, New Zealand by changing "mid 1870s" to "mid-1870s". This is an article about New Zealand, and therefore uses New Zealand spelling. In New Zealand English (and, to a lesser extent, in Commonwealth English overall), the hyphen is in general more often than not omitted, although it remains a viable option. See, for example the first sentence of this, the second paragraph of this, the first item listed here, the first paragraph of this, and the paragraph starting "During the mid 1960s" here — these references are from the New Zealand Government's official website, the National Library of New Zealand, the country's main online news source, the National Encyclopedia of New Zealand, and the official national online history archive. Theoretically, all New Zealand articles which contain "mid-" should be changed by bot to "mid ", though it is (as I said) optional, and as such that might be a waste of bot-time. Hi, I found your article using the page curation tool bar whilst reviewing and adding maintenance tags to newly created pages. I nominated the page for speedy deletion using Twinkle. You could have nominated it yourself, using twinkle to nominate it for G7 speedy deletion (for when the author requests deletion). You can do the same thing manually by adding {{db-g7}} or {{db-author}} anywhere on the page. I hope that helps and thanks for all the articles you've created and work you've done! Spelling corrections

User:Jamesmcmahon0, thanks for your spelling correction to Ottoman Empire. I have actually reverted to the version before the paragraph you corrected was added. When you see such badly written, unsourced, obviously POV content replacing well sourced and well written content, I would suggest that instead of correcting the spelling errors, you just revert to the good version. Merge and delete on List of officers of the Oxford University Chess Club

Hi, and thanks for merging this article to Oxford University Chess Club. It was becoming rather overdue. :-)

I saw that you put a speedy deletion tag on List of officers of the Oxford University Chess Club after the content was merged. The GFDL/CC licences that the content was submitted under require that authorship be acknowledged if the content is used, usually this is in the form of the page history, and it is therefore usually inadvisable to delete it if the content has been merged and used elsewhere (Wikipedia:Merge and delete).

What I have done in this case is restore the page history and redirect it to the article where the content now is. This is the usual outcome for merges. (It is possible to be GFDL compliant in other ways, such as history merges, but these methods are a bit awkward and are exceptions rather than the rule.) @Zizibarth: the article you mention isn't about Ignazia Bartholini (as far as I can tell). Also this wouldn't stop the page being an orphan. To de-orphan the page you need to add links to Ignazia Bartholini from other relevant English Wikipedia pages. To add a link to the Italian Wikipedia see Inter-language links. Heritage preservation in South Korea

Hi! I am still working on this article. There is a work in progress template on it for a reason. It's already the second time a patroller places a problem tag on work in progress article within 24 hours. It's not like I abandoned the article for days. Is this how patrolling works here on enwiki? Why can't patrollers simply leave people to work on their articles in peace? You know, I kind of start to feel this is one of the reasons why so many newbies leave Wikipedia. • Turning "The_Advertiser_(" into "The Advertiser (";
• Turning "cn" into "citation needed"; and

Hi I was using AWB to run through pages that reportedly had CheckWiki errors. AWB makes changed automatically, I just review them and commit them. All of the changes in the edit seem to be focused on making the wiki markup more readable. Whilst it would be pointless to make such changes by hand, using AWB to do them is trivial. I was Typo fixing and some talk pages somehow made it into my list, I only edited ones in which the order of templates changes ("per Wikipedia:Talk page layout") as this, usually, results in a change in page appearance. Of course, editors are free to do the clean-up work, but it's not the best place for your request. GOCE members improve the quality of prose in articles and lists by copy-editing and doing general fixes. I think the best place to ask for a template cleanup is Wikipedia:WikiProject Templates. I'd added a photo of the new/ current principal that was provided by a third party and forwarded her email giving permission to use it to the wiki permissions address. But I notice the photo has been removed. I can't work out from the history who did that and how to ask them what I did wrong/ how to get it back. Your bot and stubs

Thanks for the note at Category talk:Stubs#MoohanBOT, which was the first I'd heard of this bot activity. There does not seem to be any mention of it in July, at either Category talk:Stubs or Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Stub sorting.

I'm pretty neutral about the bot removing {{stub}} from articles which already have a specific stub type: they're irritating when I find them in Category:Stubs, but when I find one I usually drop a note on the editor's talk page to point out the error of their ways, as the {{stub}} is often added by a very new editor. I doubt that your bot will find many of them, as stub-sorters empty the stub category pretty regularly.

But I'm not at all sure about the {{bio-stub}}. It takes the article out of the sight of stub-sorters, but doesn't help anyone looking for stubs in a particular subject area. An article gets tagged as {{bio-stub}} rather than {{England-MP-stub}} or {{Defensiveback-1930s-stub}}. I'm not sure that it's a useful action. Is there anyone out there re-sorting the Category:People stubs? (I might now have a look at it, especially picking off the people who obviously lack a DEFAULSORT, but haven't done so hitherto: when I stub-sort a person I usually add the DEFAULTSORT, Category:Living persons and birth and death cats where appropriate: other stub-sorters quite likely do so too). Hey, I'll not run the bio-stub task again until we have figured out the best way to move forward. Obviously the intention of the bot is to be useful and perform simple tasks to reduce the workload for editors, if it is creating more work (or hiding the work) then that was definitely not the intention!

When I filed the bot request I made the assumption that Category:People stubs was 'maintained' in the same way that Category:Stubs is. I assumed this based on all the templates on the cat page; backlog, regular maintenance needed etc and also it seemed logical to me that there would be a sub-set of stub sorters who focus on biography articles, geographic articles etc. I don't know whether this is the case and I defer to your greater experience with the community.

As for your questions about DEFAULTSORT, most of the pages my bot has tagged should have things like DEFAULTSORT, birth/death cats and persondata added, this is because it runs using AWB and so performs general fixes along with other edits.

Thanks for your reply. I think I may have been a bit hasty in my initial reaction – I was a bit taken aback to hear for the first time about this bot, as a long-standing stub-sorter. I'd never really looked at Category:People stubs before. I see it has just over 1,000 entries at present, and I've now picked off and sorted out all those with a bracketed disambiguation (checking whether they were properly linked from the base name by a hatnote or dab page entry – quite a proportion weren't), and all those starting with "P". I think it probably is useful, on balance, especially when Lugnuts does one of his major sweeps and fills the stub category. Sorting out the bio stubs is quite a nice job, fewer total disaster areas than when looking at stubs as a whole! I have no idea who looks at the category, but I'll spend a bit of time on it myself. (Is there a way to see how the population of a category changes over weeks or months? It would be fascinating to know.) So on balance the bot's work of moving stuff into the people category is probably a positive, contrary to my initial thoughts.

It would be much better if the page curation setup refused to let people add {{stub}} when an article already has a specific stub tag, and I've suggested this! I doubt that your bot will ever find many to fix, but there's no problem in it doing what it can. PamD 15:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

• An update: after a month of focussing on Category:People stubs, I've emptied it. If Category:Stubs fills up with a mass input again, when an editor or a bot has a blitz on labelling stubs, I think it would be useful to run your bot, as it splits out a recognisable chunk of the category into a more specific one. I've quite enjoyed working on this motley collection of stubby people. A small trickle get added to the category, mainly through AfC articles, and I'll be interested to keep tabs on it now. Sorry I was dismissive of your bot initially, I think I just was a bit surprised/shocked to find those 1000 partly-sorted stubs! PamD 12:40, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
