Games with Procedural generation

Just for info, "procedural generation" is the same thing as "randomly generated". Games like Gran Turismo 5 have this for some of their stages. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.145.35.176 (talk) 08:18, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Baol Bardot Bulsara (singer)

Hello Jd22292, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Baol Bardot Bulsara (singer), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: lead singer of notable band. You may wish to review the Criteria for Speedy Deletion before tagging further pages. Thank you. TonyBallioni (talk) 23:33, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

Baol Bardot Bulsara (singer)

Can you please let the page be finnished before you set it up for deletion? 3 mins after I made the page, is too soon. I didnt even have time to write anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TomV71 (talkcontribs) 23:31, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

(edit conflict) @TomV71: You're lucky that TonyBallioni declined the speedy deletion because of the person's position in a notable band. However, the BLPPROD most likely remains as you might not have added sources yet. Please take the time to locate sources for the individual within the current grace period. Good luck with the article nonetheless. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 23:37, 24 November 2017 (UTC)

Redirects

Hi, thanks for your edits. Can I suggest a good idea to use https://www.discogs.com/ to check that there is only one song of a given title before creating a (song) redirect. Most song titles are already "taken" so to speak, many times over, so Title (song) usually heads to Title (disambiguation) while songs with no articles are Title (Lady Gaga song) etc. All the best. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:06, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

@In ictu oculi: Thanks for making the moves. I've repaired some of the redirects that resulted in a double redirect, although one of them I've reverted back to the original target until the appropriate disambiguation page is created or another suitable target is found. If you still can't find a suitable target, I suggest tagging the resulting created page with a G7. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 00:32, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

November 2017

You have sent a warning notice or alert on my editing speedy deletion notice pasted on the article Bellamkonda Ramaraya Kavi. I had contested it. I have pasted Adminabuse immediately. Now the article is in draft status. The article has international significance for readers interested in Indian Sanskrit scholars and Yogis. Kindly do not delete it as it was written after a laborious effort of touring and collecting data. You are a contributor, not administrator, like me. But you deleted my article on Sambasiva Rao, Nanduri by stating the reason that it is unambiguous promotional and advertising. How can an article be unambiguous promotional or advertising on a Government of India top Cop? Wiki policy stipulates that there should be 7 days time prior to deletion for arriving at a consensus. You have not followed it. You showed undue haste in deleting the story of another contributor pasting speedy deletion notice. You have not heeded even my contesting the decision. A democratic approach is missing. On the other hand, you threaten me by sending a notice of vandalizing the speedy deletion notice. All this is against the code of conduct prescribed by wikipedia for its contributors and admin editors. Now the article on Bellamkonda Ramaraya Kavi is in draft status because of your interfering with the contributor's freedom. When do you revert the draft to article status? Please respond. If you do not respond to this notice, I will move the draft to article again and remove any notices of speedy deletions by editing. I need clear cut response positively from your end restoring my article from draft status.CSHN Murthy (talk) 05:00, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

@CSHN Murthy: Jd did not move the article to draft, @Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi did so. I suggest you not move the article back to draftspace or state that you will remove CSD notifications no matter what. -- ferret (talk) 05:06, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

You are confused. This is the problem with the many administrators and contributors. I have just gone through the talk page of Jd in which I find a number of talk messages declining the speedy deletion notices and finding fault with Jd for passing comments like vandalism, etc. Such talk messages should alert Jd from misusing it. My point is that the article on Bellamkonda Ramaraya Kavi is moved to draft status by posting a speedy deletion notice. After my contesting the decision and declining the move, the notice is removed but the article still remains in draft status. Why the article is in draft status still? Please revert it to article status and make it visible for international readers. My point is why this is kept in draft status still? Pl spell out the reasons clearly convincing me as a contributor. Otherwise revert the draft to article status. You tell me why I should allow my article be in draft status without a reason for indefinite time defeating the very purpose for which it is written? Hence I have no option but to move the draft back to article status if the admin does not react positively and restore the draft back to article status quickly. If one of you want to edit it, you can edit the article as you are editing all other articles that I posted on wikipedia so far.CSHN Murthy (talk) 05:14, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

@CSHN Murthy: I'm not confused at all. Your article was moved back to draft space because you did not let AfC review it correctly. It was moved back several times by different editors, and you continue to move it back despite this. Jd is not an administrator, has not deleted any of your articles, nor did he move the article to draft space. Continuing to edit in this manner will result in you being blocked for disruptive editing. Please leave the article in draft until a member of AfC can review it. -- ferret (talk) 05:20, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Sacred Woods (disambiguation)

The article Sacred Woods (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Per WP:2DABS.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. First can I upload a screenshot for you to see it? HueMan1 (talk) 13:01, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

That depends on what's in the screenshot; you would need to be careful that you were not uploading copyrighted material (you can't generally upload screenshots of software, for example). If you just want to know how to use quotations on Wikipedia, start with Wikipedia:Quotations for the basic guidance, see the Manual of Style entry for use and formatting, and Help:Wikitext#Blockquote or the pages at Category:Enhanced quote templates for some of the actual syntax required. @HueMan1: I believe I know what you're talking about: you want to inform me of your beliefs in the inclusion of the Monstercat template on artists' discography pages, correct? Tbh, with the deletion of the template per Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2017 November 20, I don't think it's important right now, but per WP:BIDIRECTIONAL, Every article that transcludes a given navbox should normally also be included as a link in the navbox so that the navigation is bidirectional. In other words, if you'd like to include record label navboxes on discography pages, consider adding a link to that page to the template as well. If it were me doing this, I'd include the link in a way so it displays like this, for example: Slushii (discography). If you're not using Visual Edit, you can see how this display is formed by looking at the Wiki Markup. Also pinging Ferret and Yunshui as the two administrators involved in this discussion to allow them to look at the article history for Slushii discography and HueMan's contribs to know what I'm talking about, and if I missed anything, to add to what I said. jd22292 (Jalen D. Strong dispute over your comments

I in no way censored the article and it's a farce to claim I did. Calling his comments "racist" in Wikipedia's voice was flagrantly against WP:NPOV and I changed it to "controversial", which is objectively true. I'm reverting the edit. --Volvlogia (talk) 00:52, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

@Volvlogia: A consensus had already been reached on the article's Talk page that says "racist" is appropriate in the context. Please do not change this without reaching another consensus. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 00:54, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

December 2017

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Windows Maps. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing.
You are also edit warring with that IP. It is clearly not vandalism. The rules apply to reverting IPs just as much as accounts. TonyBallioni (talk) 04:05, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

@TonyBallioni: Not to excuse Jd's revert, just adding my thoughts here. The IP in question looks a lot like blocked sockmaster Sonic N800, but I don't have the energy to chase it down as his IP changes very frequently and the Saudi Arabian IP ranges involved are too broad to do much about. Just glancing over it I found at least 4 related IPs on the same topic areas that are likely him based on editing behavior. -- ferret (talk) 16:47, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Looking at this again, yes, there's no excuse to my reverts against the IP, but the IP range (95.185.0.0/24) does line up with the usual proxies of the sockmaster. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 16:51, 1 December 2017 (UTC)
Ferret, the issue here is that Jd has a history of not assuming good faith with IPs and new accounts, reverting them, and reporting them to AIV for no reason. If there is a socking issue that an uninvolved admin can't easily see, that should be handled at SPI. TonyBallioni (talk) 17:02, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

Kayseri Airport Revert

Hi, how's it going?

I noticed that you recently reverted the Kayseri redirect that I had deleted. I was in the process of trying to figure out how to delete the page entirely when you reverted the blank page. I found that Kayseri Airport (LTAM) is not the same airport as Kayseri Erkilet Airport (LTAU) and should not be linked to the LTAU page. This is confusing and leads the user to assume that they are both, one and the same. I am rather new to this, so any advice or help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Shaggyski (talk) 01:38, 7 December 2017 (UTC)

@Shaggyski: Thanks for sharing your concerns. Compared to LTAU, LTAM was never created by anyone as no sources had emerged. Perhaps it can be turned into an article to differentiate it from Erkilet? Just remember it needs sourcing per WP:RS and that at least one source needs to prove its notability per WP:N. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 01:41, 7 December 2017 (UTC)
@Jd22292::: I was thinking about writing up an article on the defunct airport LTAM, but have never written an article on Wikipedia before and felt that the task might be better served by someone who had done so before. I found sources with info (very little, though) on the airport, but am not certain as to what might constitute a reliable/notable source from a noob's perspective. I've cited websites many times before in editing articles, but am unsure if the process is the same for mining notable sources when writing a new article. Also, if an individual article for LTAM was not to be created, shouldn't the redirect be removed to LTAU? As you said, no sources had emerged for LTAM. How can an entity which has no sources be redirected to another separate entity in the first place? If it has no sources, how would one know to redirect it to something similar? Shouldn't the standard for an entity with no source be that no page nor redirect is created? I'm just musing my theories, as it seems weird to me that there would a redirect on this. I've seen that most of the recent games doesn't mention that. Pure conSouls (talk) 07:41, 14 December 2017 (UTC)

"Esports" spelling

Hi JD22292, I noticed you have made edits and contributions to the wiki page for esports. I would just like to make the suggestion to edit the page to say "esports" rather than "eSports". The Assoiciated Press Stylebook made a determination to to use the former spelling, and with AP Style being internationally recognised, I feel it makes sense to showcase this in the wiki page. A link to some more infomation on it can be found here.— Preceding unsigned comment added by KyloR (talkcontribs) 17:07, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

(talk page watcher)@KyloR: We are well aware of the AP stylebook, but currently there is no consensus to change the spelling based on that alone. See the article's talk page where this has been repeatedly discussed, as well as the edit notice that calls it out. -- ferret (talk) 17:17, 30 December 2017 (UTC)
Yes, as Ferret mentioned, there isn't a consensus to change the spelling. As far as we know, AP is the only source that uses this spelling, and it looks like it hasn't caught on with other outlets yet. There is a discussion in the archives of that Talk page that mentions this. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 17:30, 30 December 2017 (UTC)

@Piranha249: Thanks for your explanation. Usually, the way I would handle a situation like this is to just leave the edit alone while other users review the edit and make necessary copyedits. Just continue to assume good faith when it comes to constructive anon edits like this. A situation I came across similar to this is in the Jackbox Games article where I had to deal with a different anon who appeared to have a similar obstacle with their English; I did not judge, I just allowed the edits to happen and found the time to make copyedits myself when no one else could. Thanks so much, I'll be sure to do so. JE98 (talk) 02:20, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

Reverts

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Minecraft. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. —Dilidor (talk) 17:42, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) @Dilidor: Giving a user an edit war warning for doing a single partial undo on you seems a little disingenuous, don't you think? You might re-read WP:BRD. -- ferret (talk) 17:56, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ferret: Indeed it does! Which is precisely why I returned to favor to Jd22292, since he posted this warning on my page after I did a single partial undo. A little disingenuous, don't you think? —Dilidor (talk) 17:58, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
@Dilidor: Then tell him that it was, at best, pre-mature to warn you. Let's avoid "counter templating", it's not helpful. -- ferret (talk) 18:00, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Ferret: Jd22292 is coming perilously close to a CIR block, and I'll make this a final warning for them: if they incorrectly warn, revert, or report another user to AIV in the future, I will block them for disruptive editing. I would encourage them to stay far away from any of Twinkle's functions. TonyBallioni (talk) 18:03, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
@TonyBallioni: Fair enough, not defending him on that (Didn't see it at the time besides). -- ferret (talk) 18:05, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Not a problem: I know you are a TPS here which is why I pinged you :). I'd agree that Dilidor probably shouldn't have returned the template, but this warning because of one revert could only end badly (yes, BRD and whatnot, but 1 revert does not edit warring make). TonyBallioni (talk) 18:11, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ferret:I concur that counter-warning was not the "by-the-book" course of action, but on the other hand, it did demand a response, which a simple posting on his talk page would have not accomplished. @TonyBallioni: Thank you for attending to this problem. There is clearly a pattern here that should be addressed and curtailed. —Dilidor (talk) 18:20, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
@Dilidor, Ferret, and TonyBallioni: I'd actually like to thank you all for making me rethink my time on Wikipedia and whether it's right for me to stay. Judging by my own actions in this situation as well as in the past, and after a few minutes of thinking, I feel that Wikipedia is not for me. I have caused more trouble on the encyclopedia than just this incident, and I cannot forgive myself for each of them.
Also, to any other editor that watches my Talk page, thank you for sticking around during my short time here on Wikipedia, and I'm sorry that I let you all down like this. While I will request to vanish from Wikipedia, I don't have to disappear completely, for I have placed on my User page other places you can find me in case you'd still like to communicate with me. Again, I apologize for letting you all down. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 18:55, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
It’s your call: I leave people’s retirement up to them, and don’t pressure to leave or stay when it happens. I’m only commenting to say that my warning was solely related to maintenance tasks and warnings/anti-vandal work. I don’t know how you interact on the content side of the project, but I’m confident you’d not have to worry about a CIR block if you simply disabled Twinkle in your preferences. If that makes a difference, good, if not, I honestly wish you the best. TonyBallioni (talk) 19:14, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
Agreed. You just need to step back from the maintenance and reporting work, as previously suggested. Your content work is fine. -- ferret (talk) 19:21, 19 January 2018 (UTC)

I'd just assume you not retire and continue with content work, but wanted to say, claiming retirement then editing while logged out is a little disingenuous. -- ferret (talk) 01:48, 28 January 2018 (UTC)

A much needed explanation

This goes for all my Talk page watchers and other users who are suspicious about some things regarding recent activity with my account post-retirement. Yes, I did edit while logged out, and I can't take back these actions.

Since retirement, I have posted this in regards to some background that occurred during these past few months as I was warned of misusing AIV. The most recent warning (still on this Talk page) did not directly cause the retirement, but rather caused me to think back on the continued stress I was getting while contributing normally to the encyclopedia and what caused it. The memories in turn caused me to finally leave.

While it should be a relief that no one editor caused my retirement (or to be more appropriate, caused me to leave), I am prepared to defend myself at ANI or ArbCom if there's still any suspicion. At the same time, I'm still thinking about whether a return to the encyclopedia seems appropriate considering this situation. Wikipedia felt like an addiction for me since I became active in June, and I had not found the time for moderation solutions until I left.

Again, I'm sorry if I let anyone down these past few weeks (Yes, sorry still seems to be the hardest word for me.) I'm still receiving e-mails about changes to articles I created and fulfilled requests (thanks Zawl for fulfilling my request for Connecting the Dots over at RA) and am pleased with what I'm seeing in terms of maintenance and improvement. If I do decide to return, I will follow the advice given to me weeks ago and not continue with anti-vandal work (I have already disabled Twinkle in case a return ever occurred.)

In the case I don't return, thanks to my watchers and editors I've worked with for being some form of support during my active 7 months on the encyclopedia. I hope our paths will one day cross again off the encyclopedia. jd22292 (Jalen D. Folf) (talk • contribs) 00:41, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
