Welcome to Wikipedia! I am glad to see you are interested in discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Zeitgeist, the Movie are for discussion related to improving the article, not general discussion about the topic. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you.

Welcome!

Return of the Spice Girls

Hi. This is just to let you know what the problem is with the chunk I removed from Return of the Spice Girls:

  • Some of it makes vague and unsubstantiated claims. "rumoured to be" is always a very bad thing to read in an article.
  • Not all of it is referenced to Reliable Sources. Linking to things like YouTube is to be avoided.
  • Some of it is too trivial for inclusion. I know that this is a value judgement but if there are no references for something then it is hard to give it the benefit of the doubt.

I am sure that some of it is OK but we don't want all of it. Please try adding back just the good parts. --DanielRigal (talk) 14:29, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 15:24, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Your recent edit/undo

I am not sure what your reasoning for this last edit was? It was a legitimate update to the page. A player, who had recently moved to a club, was just given a club number, so I updated the wikipedia page. Seems like a pretty straightforward edit. I also updated the player's page with the same number and cited the source: the player's page on the official club page. —Stochil (talk) 03:57, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for your reverts here. I find this article is a big problem since it was first written, in so much I have tried to make it encyclopaedic, but many people who have some very strong religious views seem intent on vandalising it. I am at a bit of a loss as to what to do with it. Thanks Again --Sikh-history (talk) 09:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Question for administrator

{{adminhelp}} Can I put the block things in a sandbox? And can I use another persons sandbox? Also, I'm just messing with the block things, not trying to block anything. Thanks! --JMS Old Al (talk) 22:10, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

If you mean the templates, then yes you can, thats fine as long as you don't add them to another persons userpage/talk page, but be aware that you may end up adding your sandbox to categories such as CAT:TEMP. As for othjer peoples sandboxes, its probably best not to, its easy enough to create your own, but I suppose if you asked someone first and they agreed to it, it wouldn't be a problem--Jac16888Talk 23:03, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of President of the Republic of Texas

I have nominated President of the Republic of Texas, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/President of the Republic of Texas. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Seegoon (talk) 11:44, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

The article you created: President_of_the_Republic_of_Texas may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for President_of_the_Republic_of_Texas: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

1. List the page on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)

3. You can request a mentor to help you: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. These acronyms don't need to intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: Deletion debate acronyms, which will help you argue that the article should be kept.

If your page is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! Ikip (talk) 15:11, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

I am not trying to commit vandalism, sockpuppeteeing or anything else. I am just trying to get an article up on wikipedia. I see this is not possible, so I just want it taken down. How can I do this?```` —Preceding unsigned comment added by Leonfresco73 (talkcontribs) 17:40, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Grsilva

For every category you create, you should specify parent categories to which it belongs. In the case of a category like this one, parent categories are provided automatically when you include a {{Sockpuppet category}} template. I've added the template.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 19:12, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Rollback

Hello JMS Old Al, I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Newbie treatment

Hi JMS Old Al!

Because you interacted with User:Alis grave nil, you unwittingly became a participant in WP:NEWT. I apologize for any inconvenience caused by my edits under that name. However, I sincerely believe that looking at the way new users are treated, and where we can improve, will be beneficial to Wikipedia in the long run. The project is always looking to recruit new, dedicated editors, and I think it is very important that new users acting in good faith feels welcomed.

Your feedback would be most welcome on the project page.

Again, sorry for the misrepresentation. If there's anything I can do to make up for your lost time, please let me know. Regards, decltype (talk) 09:08, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

DinoJones (talk) 20:14, 28 December 2009 (UTC) Incorrect, see my message in that articles' discussion page. Further more it does not stem from an expert opinion, but rather a lamen's blog.

Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy

Hi Al, Thanks for your message, and sorry for the confusion. I am trying to change the name of the page itself: it currently reads "Expert review of anticancer therapy" but as this is the title of a journal, I need it to be in uppercase: "Expert Review of Anticancer Therapy" I'm having trouble trying to find out how to do this. Would you be able to help? Thanks,

Still having trouble

Thanks for your help Al, hugely appreciated. I'm afraid I've no previous experience of creating or even editing a wiki page and I'm still unable to update this.

According to the instructions on that page I need to type the following: {{DISPLAYTITLE:Desired Title}}.

I've done this, but the title doesn't appear to have changed. If you've any advice that would be great, but no problem if not.

Thanks again

Replaceable fair use File:Doddgeridge County High School.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Doddgeridge County High School.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MilborneOne (talk) 20:18, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

Prod removal and restoration

Regarding your restoration of the proposed deletion notice on History of our village malcha that was removed by the creator: as set out at WP:CONTESTED, "If anyone, including the article creator, removes a {{proposed deletion/dated}} tag from an article, do not replace it, even if the tag was apparently removed in bad faith. This excludes removals that are clearly not an objection to deletion, such as page blanking or obvious vandalism, and tags removed by banned users may be restored. If you still believe that the article needs to be deleted, or that the article should be deleted but with discussion, list it on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion." This article certainly has issues, but PROD is intended to apply only to non-contentious deletions. Among other reasons for this, articles placed at AfD get more attention from other editors who might have access to reliable sources. (Another editor has now started Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of our village malcha). --Arxiloxos (talk) 16:07, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Jupiter Middle School

The article Jupiter Middle School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable article about a middle school. Meets neither WP:NSCHOOL nor WP:GNG, nor does it cite any reliable sources.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
