African Parks
editAfrican Parks Network name change
editI can't find anything about this namechange on their press pages. Please advise where I may find it. Thank you. Spintendo 08:24, 14 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Spintendo: You're right, there doesn't seem to have been a press release about the name change. I was checking with my contact at African Parks and they didn't have any announcement release to point to, either. With that said, you can see from the official site that the organization goes by African Parks, and their recent news coverage all refers to African Parks. Simple edits made into edit requests
editYou made 3 requests for a spelling error. Unbelieveable. And in none of those requests did you specify it was a spelling error. It's as if you can't even be bothered to act to help the community in anyway whatsoever. Even mere considerations of tact would seem to show the irrelevance of an editor who, by their own ommission of detail from a request, prolongs and needlessly complicates those requests for no apparent reason. The list of editors willing to assist you on your hapless quest dwindles further. Spintendo 18:53, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
- Hello, Spintendo. I'm sorry if my requests were at all confusing, and certainly I don't want to be overly taxing to the community. While I recognize that my requests recently for African Parks (assuming it's those that you're referencing) are for small fixes that would be considered uncontroversial, I do not edit articles directly, ever, because of my paid COI, which is why I submitted edit requests. Although some editors are comfortable with paid editors making uncontroversial edits, there are some who consider any direct edits problematic and I'd rather stick to the "bright line" approach of no direct editing at all.
- The intention behind these requests was to improve Wikipedia by correcting the text or wikilinks to several articles that have been moved; I didn't see this as a "spelling error" but more cleaning up needed after the page moves were completed. Examples include changing "Majete Game Reserve" to "Majete Wildlife Reserve" after the Wikipedia article was moved (Talk:Majete Wildlife Reserve), or changing "Odzala National Park" to "Odzala-Kokoua National Park" after the Wikipedia article was moved (see Talk:Odzala-Kokoua National Park).
- I'll also respond to your note at Talk:Petrocephalus arnegardi further, since your note here clarifies for me what you were looking for on that page. I do see how my request there might have been clearer. Thanks for your help reviewing requests. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:44, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
Chinko has been nominated for Did You Know
editHello, Inkian Jason. Chinko, an article you either created or to which you significantly contributed, has been nominated to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page as part of Did you know . You can see the hook and the discussion here. You are welcome to participate! Thank you. APersonBot (talk!) 12:00, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: Thank you for submitting this nomination. Not sure if the Liuwa Plain National Park and Zakouma National Park articles also qualify or not, but they've been expanded recently. Thanks again for all your help! Inkian Jason (talk) 16:19, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
- This one qualifies because it is a new article. The other two you mention do not qualify as in each case there was an existing article, and these would have needed to have been expanded five-fold to qualify, and they were not. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 17:43, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: I see, thanks for explaining. Inkian Jason (talk) 17:44, 2 April 2018 (UTC)
DYK for Chinko
editOn 29 April 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chinko, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Chinko Nature Reserve in central Africa provides a habitat with the genetic diversity needed to reestablish animal populations in neighbouring regions? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chinko. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Chinko), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 5 June 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for your diligent observation of the COI guidelines in your edits. Chetsford (talk) 00:15, 9 March 2018 (UTC) |
- @Chetsford: Thanks for the barnstar, and for your help reviewing my requests! Inkian Jason (talk) 16:40, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
I also see an editor who works diligently and sticks rigidly to the CoI guidelines. Congratulations. Although I could review this draft article, I have reviewed several of your drafts and I think it would be better if somebody else reviews this one. Maybe @Chetsford: would oblige. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:16, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
- @Cwmhiraeth: Thanks for your kind words. I'm fine with another editor reviewing the proposed draft, of course, and appreciate your help reviewing others. If Chetsford is not interested, I'll reach out to some WikiProjects soon. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:20, 29 March 2018 (UTC)

Full Sail University
editHello, Inkian Jason. This is a courtesy notice that the copy edit you requested for Full Sail University at the Guild of Copy Editors requests page is now complete. All feedback welcome! Cheers, Baffle gab1978 01:36, 9 July 2018 (UTC) |
- Hi Jason, I've removed most of the promotional text, including waffle, from the article. I've also reorganized it with more appropriate sections, which I hope makes the article more neutral and less self-serving, and thus more useful to readers. It's not perfect though; so I've left the maintenance templates in place; you may adjust or remove them if you think the problems are fixed. Thanks for declaring your COI at the requests page; much appreciated. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 01:36, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- @Baffle gab1978: Thank you for completing the copy edit. I'll take a close look at your edits, but I did notice the "in 2012" should be capitalized in the sentence about Mitt Romney. As for the tags, I do not edit the main space directly because of my conflict of interest. I've asked if the tags are still necessary here, and I've requested a peer review as a last resort, since the editor who added the tags has not provided feedback about how to have them removed. I realize the tags are not in the scope of the Guild if Copy Editors, but if you happen to have any thoughts on addressing or removing the tags, I'd appreciate any feedback in either location so I can propose further improvements to the article, if needed. Either way, thanks so much again for your copy edit help. Inkian Jason (talk) 21:27, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for you reply. Thank you for noticing my typo (d'oh!); I've fixed it and wikilinked Romney. I've removed two of the three maintenance tags ({{peacock}} and {{tone}}), which I'm happy I've dealt with, but I've left {{neutrality}} because I didn't add or remove any major content or sources. I respect your stance on your COI; I wish more editors would do so. There's no harm in your editing of articles other than this, though. I don't normally involve myself with content issues in articles I've copy-edited because I c/e so many that I'd never keep track of them all! Thanks for the invitation to comment though; good luck with the article. Cheers, Baffle gab1978 23:44, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

@Baffle gab1978: I was curious if you'd be willing to take a look at just the first paragraph of the introduction again. Another editor made a couple changes, but the flow is still not quite right. Also, if you prefer not to get involved in bigger edit requests, I understand, but I submitted a pretty straightforward request here to update the "Notable people" section with a sourced list of alumni, if you're willing to take a look. Thanks for your consideration. Inkian Jason (talk) 18:23, 26 July 2018 (UTC)
