March 2009 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Father Of Mediterranean Music has been reverted.

Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove unwanted links and spam from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. The external links I reverted were matching the following regex rule(s): \byoutube\.com (links: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mgo9aajigk, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o-u83msnpa). If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file. Video links are also strongly deprecated by our guidelines for external links, partly because they're useless to people with slow internet connections.

If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 17:15, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Father Of Mediterranean Music do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Duplicate articles. edit

Wikipedia has one article per topic; see WP:Content forking. Please merge appropriate information from your article Father Of Mediterranean Music into Amr Diab so that your article can be removed (or it can be turned into a redirect leading to the Amr Diab article). —Largo Plazo (talk) 19:55, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Father Of Mediterranean Music, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. I have patiently explained to you why you can't keep another article about a person separate from the article that already existed. See WP:Content forking. The title is irrelevant. The man's name is "Amr Diab", so that is the correct title for the one article about him. I have encouraged you to add any useful material you might have to that article—and I don't mean by just copying it wholesale into the middle, as you did, but in an appropriate manner. Evidently someone else got frustrated before I did with your insistence on keeping you own article, and turned it into a redirect. I strongly suggest you leave it as it is, and that if you want to add the material you had, make appropriate edits to the Amr Diab article. —Largo Plazo (talk) 23:38, 26 March 2009 (UTC) —Largo Plazo (talk) 23:38, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Now that you've replaced the text again, I need to emphasize to you that Wikipedia does not exist so that you can"confirm titles". I explained to you why you may not have a separate article about the same person. I am going to have to take further action. —Largo Plazo (talk) 23:53, 26 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Amr Diab Bahrain.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Amr Diab Bahrain.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. — neuro(talk)(review) 17:19, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Amr Diab Jennifer Lopez.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Amr Diab Jennifer Lopez.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 19:05, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

internet links edit

Please remove internet links inside text and put them to external links part, check how other persons page has been written. Thanks--Musamies (talk) 19:14, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

But before doing that, please read the guidelines about external links and Wikipedia not being a repository of links. —Largo Plazo (talk) 19:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

PDF files edit

PDF files are not generally useful in Wikipedia. If you are attempting to use them to cite a source, you should instead cite that source explicitly, rather than including a file. Such files which have no incoming external links are routinely deleted. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:20, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Amr_Diab_Session.jpg edit

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Amr_Diab_Session.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 18:47, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Replaceable fair use Image:Amrdiab2009.jpg edit

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Amrdiab2009.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 21:42, 25 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Mediterranean fathers‎ edit

The article Mediterranean fathers‎ has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.Copana2002 (talk) 17:36, 18 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Possibly unfree File:Amr Diab In Fairmont.jpg edit

A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Amr Diab In Fairmont.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files because its copyright status is unclear or disputed. If the file's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. You may find more information on the file description page. You are welcome to add comments to its entry at the discussion if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. --FASTILYsock(TALK) 20:21, 9 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Mohamed Hilal edit

The article Mohamed Hilal has been proposed for deletion because, under Wikipedia policy, all newly created biographies of living persons must have at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Orphaned non-free media (File:Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) headquarters in Hadaeq Al Qubbah.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:Egyptian General Intelligence Service (GIS) headquarters in Hadaeq Al Qubbah.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:24, 11 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
