Bahar Mustafa

Greetings. You may wish to review WP:ONUS: "The onus to achieve consensus for inclusion is on those seeking to include disputed content". There's no grandfather clause that says content that existed previous to discussion has to be !voted on before it can be removed, especially regarding BLPs. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 11:20, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

  • The RFC was launched on the content you are trying to exclude (question 1). As WP:RFC says: "Editing after others have raised objections may be viewed as disruptive editing or edit warring. Be patient; make your improvements in accord with consensus after the RFC is resolved.". There is no clear consensus right now as to whether the content should be included or not, 3 users have !voted to include, and 2 have !voted to exclude. WP:NOCONSENSUS says that if there's no consensus, then the default position is not to change the wording, with the exception of contentious BLP text. The only question that remains is whether the content is contentious or not. I believe it isn't contentious as it's well sourced, factual, and directly related to the incident. IffyChat -- 11:37, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
    • The debate regarding WP:BLPCRIME suggests that it is contentious – that is, a point of contention. Sourcing is a separate issue; there is plenty of well-sourced material that does not meet BLP standards. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 11:45, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
      • Your argument hinges entirely on whether she is a public figure or not. If she is, then BLPCRIME doesn't apply and you have no argument. You've made your case at the RFC, the best thing to do now would be to wait for an uninvolved admin to determine consensus and to close. I won't revert if you revert again as I don't want to spend the rest of my pre-holiday Internet time on an edit war, but please consider your conduct when editing before this ends up at WP:ANI. IffyChat -- 11:55, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
        • I'm not the only editor arguing that PUBLICFIGURE doesn't apply here. As to complaints about my conduct, I will say nothing, but you know what they say about those who live in glass houses... —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 12:11, 16 February 2018 (UTC)

My welcome message

Thank you for the warm welcome. I am very lost here, I was only attempting to set up my own 'User page' assuming that this is the correct description of a page about me. I was not proposing writing an article about anything just yet. It looks like I got it wrong though. I am confused by it all. Anotherbigal (talk) 14:23, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

@Anotherbigal: No problem, if you still wish to create a user page, you can do so at User:Anotherbigal. I would also invite you to read WP:USER for guidance on what you can and can't put on your user page. IffyChat -- 14:27, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

New article

No doubt Iffy will be writing the new article on Aristotle's immutability of the heavens. It will be hard to say anything new, not already in Wikipedia, about the immutability of the same. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.129.173.181 (talk) 09:19, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

I have no expertise on the issue, so no, I won't be creating this article. I'll leave article creation to those with more knowledge than me. IffyChat -- 09:36, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

Updates to Draft:Gabriella Taylor and move back to main Wikipedia

Hi - thanks for saving this as a draft and alerting me to use of a Daily Mail article - was never fond of the Mail and now don't have to use them. Having noticed that Gabriella Taylor was British number four without a wiki page I was preparing to write one and found your move into draft, this has now been updated and filled in with some career details including her selection to represent the national team. This may qualify the article for inclusion under NTENNIS guideline. If so, is it possible to move it before the upcoming Fed Cup match which will probably create media interest in her especially in the UK. Thanks BorisAndDoris (talk) 20:01, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

No problem. She will pass the Fed Cup criterion of WP:NTENNIS if she plays a match, being on the team isn't enough (see e.g. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Nika Shytkouskaya). Once she's played in a Fed Cup match (or meets some other NTENNIS criteria), you can move it in to mainspace at any time. I'm as surprised as you are that she hasn't met any of the NTENNIS criteria yet while both Eden Silva and Freya Christie do pass. IffyChat -- 20:41, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
As an aside, I disagree with WP:DAILYMAIL but will enforce it where doing so doesn't harm the sourcing of the article. IffyChat -- 20:41, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Was thinking that the combination of the original page having over 50 links to it, her high ranking in national stakes, notability in a particular news story and qualification for the national team with the increased likelihood that UK media will be producing tennis articles soon, particularly as we get closer to Wimbledon, should override general guidelines. It would be a shame that wikipedia was not available as a source before the anticipated news stories as we could be informing better reporting. I am prepared to move this article but am not aware of how to do it while retaining the existing edit history and would not like to take that record away. BorisAndDoris (talk) 23:32, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Wikipedia follows the news, it doesn't use a WP:CRYSTAL ball to try and guess what will be notable in the future. Team announcements are seen as WP:ROUTINE coverage which doesn't help to passing GNG. We should wait for reliable sources to take further interest before moving the page back to mainspace. You can find out how to move pages at WP:MOVE. IffyChat -- 08:11, 16 April 2018 (UTC)

Anti-Semitism in the Labour Party

This is a heavily biased article, basically just a list of allegations made by such dubious sources as Guido Fawkes and others. My edit was made to correct the false impression given that the allegations are all proven as fact; there is antisemitism across the UK, it is disgraceful and must bhe dealt with by the full force of the law. However quoting,as this article does, Gentiles who feel they are somehow qualified to partition Jews into who is a good Jew and who is a bad Jew is disgustingly anti-semitic in it's own rightand makes the entire article potentially anti-semitic. Reverts were made without comment or garbled comment, hence the reverts back to the edit. Happy to discuss and bring citations when a proper challenge to the edits is made. Basically I agree it's a revert war, not initiated by me but by a co-ordinated group of authors using wikipedia for propaganda purposes. I look forward to your reasoning as to why reverts by propagandists are allowed whereas accuracy improvements don't meet your criteria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jasmallman (talkcontribs) 15:20, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

It was undone as unsourced speculation on your part. Maybe if you actually had provide sources like I had asked it might have not been undone again. Do you have any sources for your claims? Also I suggest you look at the edit history before claims that I am in some kind of a cabal with the others who reverted you.Slatersteven (talk) 17:13, 20 April 2018 (UTC)

Australian Flag Society article

On the basis that my fellow Wikipedian involved in the third party dispute on the Australian Flag Society talk page has not proceeded with the outcome after all this time would you please see fit to remove the notability tag forthwith? Aussieflagfan (talk) 21:19, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

I was going to suggest being bold, but when you did that, your edit was reverted with the edit summary restore notability template - let's let the call on removal be made on somebody more removed from the discussion and disputes(?) here. I think the best thing to do is to wait for someone else to take a look at this, and to improve the article in the meantime instead of worrying about a tag that doesn't have any serious consequences (If someone takes the page to AFD, you'll have a week to put forward your arguments). Canadian Film Centre

The problem is that a user named "Cfccreates", indicating somebody with a direct conflict of interest, has repeatedly tried to rewrite the entire article as a public relations advertorial rather than a properly written or properly sourced encyclopedia article — and that user has been around here for for long enough that low levels of protection wouldn't be able to stop them. Once some time has passed, I'm willing to consider lowering or dropping the protection if the problem appears to have been resolved — but at the moment, full protection is the only level that actually prevents Cfccreates from being able to freely readvertorialize it again. Bearcat (talk) 13:47, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

If there's only one problem user, then a block would be the better solution, not locking away the article from edits for an undetermined period of time. IffyChat -- 16:17, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

IP hoaxes

Hi Iffy. Draft:The Day After Midnight, formerly found at Talk:The Day After Midnight, is a hoax. Same goes for Talk:The High School Reunion that you also draftified. Sam Sailor 14:16, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

I don't have time to verify whether they're hoaxes or not, but either way, the IP should not be creating articles in the Talk: namespace, so I moved them to Draft: namespace (where IPs are allowed to create articles). I'm going to leave a final warning to the IP about this and hope they stop their disruption. IffyChat -- 14:20, 31 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi @Carolcappetta:, Please read WP:RS and WP:NMUSIC for guidance on reliable sources, and Wikipedia's notablitiy standards for musicians. Google and official websites verify that he exists, but do not establish notability. The album reviews you mention are more likely to establish notability. One more thing, merely linking to your sources is not helpful to other readers; you should be writing in prose and explaining why he is a notable musician, rather than relying on readers to click on the links to find out why. Page mover granted

Hello, Iffy. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Salvio Let's talk about it! 13:58, 28 September 2018 (UTC)

OK... but step 4 at Wikipedia:Page mover#Round-robin page moves is Perform redirect cleanup and updates and this doesn't seem to have been completed. What brought me here was that Talk:Capitol Limited (Amtrak train) is now a redlink. Shouldn't it redirect to Talk:Capitol Limited to match Capitol Limited (Amtrak train)? Andrewa (talk) 07:24, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

The title page has typo and the page is orphan, no page link with that page. Why you not delete? There are some reason??? --2001:B07:6442:8903:8D3C:C5DA:57A1:9F2F (talk) 15:43, 18 December 2018 (UTC)

Hi, The issue is that to speedy delete a redirect, one of the criteria at WP:CSD has to be met. That the redirect has a typo and is orphaned is not on its own a reason to speedy delete (R3 requires the typo to be implausible, and for the redirect to be recently created, neither of which are the case here). If you believe the redirect should still be deleted, you can go to WP:RFD, where a discussion can be held on the merits. IffyChat -- 15:48, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
