BMW motorcycles edit

Your change on BMW motorcycles might not be the best thing to do: The picture you replaced was defected by someone who is a bit pissed at the moment, but should easily be fixed by a non-IP (eg. you). Could you please have a look at Gss-600.jpg, restore the valid version and decide then whether DK-MIL-POL2.jpg is a better choice? Thanks. --193.254.155.48

I'm not quite sure, what this inquery is precisely about. Image:GSS-600.jpg is flagged as a duplicate of Image:Vech-r32.jpg, which is already used on BMW motorcycles. Earlier versions is also blanked so it's probably not a new thing.
Since Image:Vech-r32.jpg is already used on BMW motorcycles, i decided to use the image, i originally uploaded to Commons, because i needed in an article about the danish military police.
Also may i suggest that we continue this discussion on Talk:BMW motorcycles#gss-600.jpg, where i have also copied your comment and my reply.

RE: Metropolis edit

Hello. My apologies for that: my restoration of prior content (and edit comment) concerns a long-standing issue regarding the listing of regions/entities in North America -- with some Mexican editors preferring to list major North American countries individually (POV violation), while I prefer to list those entities within regions similar to the scheme used for other continents -- and, thus, they not at all concern your edits regarding those particular centres listed in Northern Europe. Feel free to restore your content editions as needed; even feel free to weigh in with the above topic too. Thanks. Corticopia (talk) 20:31, 6 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Danske Forsvars logo.svg edit

Image:Danske Forsvars logo.svg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Midshipman edit

Hi - I noticed you expanded the Royal Danish Naval Academy article recently, and I was wondering if you could contribute to the Midshipman article in the Other countries section:

  • The Scandinavian language rank equivalent(s) of Midshipman, in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish. I noticed in Denmark the equivalent is probably both Aspirant and Cadet, that's fine.
  • An example of the insignia(s)
  • references for both (that's the hardest one for me)

License tagging for File:AugustaWestland AW159 model.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:AugustaWestland AW159 model.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. File copyright problem with File:Rocco the beaver.png edit

Thank you for uploading File:Rocco the beaver.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Image of Royal Danish Navy Lynx S-035 edit

Happy New Year Hebster. Denmark bought the Argentine Westland Lynx 3-H-141 which participated in the Falklands War 1982. It was called S-035 and cut in two: the cockpit is used as a flight simulator for the education of observers (Left Seat Crew Member) at the "Naval Warfare School" and its cabin is used for training helicopter egress by Special Forces. Are you able to photograph them? --Regards, Necessary Evil (talk) 01:52, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Happy New Year to you too :) I'm afraid not. The cockpit-part is located at a part of the Naval Warfare School which is classified area, and thus it isn't allowed to take photos in there. A dispensation might be possible, but I woudln't hold my breath. The egress-part is - to the best of my knowledge - scrapped today and replaced with a simpler mock-up due to maintenance costs. I'll pursue both matters though :) --Hebster (talk) 09:29, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much. Do you know any links to declassified pictures? --Regards, Necessary Evil (talk) 13:19, 6 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I now understand that the door pillars is necessary for both the cockpit and the cabin. The cockpit section (w. door pillars) from S-035 is used at the "Naval Warfare School" rendering the rest of S-035 useless. The Special Forces' helicopter egress trainer must have been the salvaged wreck of S-196 (w. door pillars). --Regards, Necessary Evil (talk) 01:39, 8 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure exactly what parts was used for the egress trainer, but I've always had the belief that those where from S-035. It could also be one of the old frames, from the Mk.90B upgrade (see http://www.the-grey-lynx.com/3_denmark/version_serials_dk.htm). Regarding declassified pictures I have been checking out my old archive of the Naval internal magazine Søværnet, because I think i have seen a picture in there at some time but without any success. --Hebster (talk) 19:46, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Well the Special Forces will egress the LYNX through the sliding doors, so an egress trainer would need the door pillars. I've seen a white LYNX with a grey ventral side (Argentine painting) where the cockpit has been removed as well as the door pillars. I am convinced that S-035's cockpit is the LSCM-trainer at Frederikshavn. After the amputation S-035 is useless for egress training, and was used for Air Battle Damage Repair training. When S-196 was salvaged, it was pretty corroded and IMO useless as a LSCM-trainer. However it could be used as an egress trainer since it wasn't bended. When the Lynx reached 7,000 flying hours, they were replaced by new bodies. But the old air frames were available from circa 1999 and later. The helicopter egress trainer was in use earlier so... --Regards, Necessary Evil (talk) 23:45, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Copenhagen metropolitan area edit

You removed some information about the population of Copenhagen's metropolitan area being 1,930,260 (as of October 1st 2011) in the Copenhagen article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copenhagen. But that number is indeed correct.

Copenhagen metropolitan area is defined as containing 34 municipalities (remember Region hovedstaden is just an administrative area and not Copenhagen metro area).

Milijøministeriet is now responsible for Copenhagen's urban planning.

As it can be seen here: http://www.naturstyrelsen.dk/Planlaegning/Planlaegning_i_byer/Hovedstadsomraadet/

"Hovedstadsområdet omfatter ifølge planloven 34 kommuner: alle kommuner i Region Hovedstaden (bortset fra Bornholms Kommune), samt Greve, Køge, Lejre, Roskilde, Solrød og Stevns Kommuner i Region Sjælland."

Or here (Fingerplan 2007): http://www.naturstyrelsen.dk/NR/rdonlyres/168AEF1C-EE66-4FE9-95D3-92B5D4452BFD/0/9788772797793.pdf

You can go to: www.statistikbanken.dk and calculate the population of these 34 municipalities and the number is indeed 1,930,260. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Christian2381 (talkcontribs) 21:08, 15 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Actually we have the article Copenhagen metropolitan area, but that has been WP:PRD'ed as nobody have sourced this claim there. Further you'll find that in a lot of publications Hovedstadsområdet is translated to the urban area of Copenhagen. One of the problems so far, is that Statistics Denmark has one definition, whereas the one you are referring to, is from the law Planloven (link), but the definition in that is clearly marked "for this law" and not necessarily a general definition. This is also currently being discussed at Talk:Urban area of Copenhagen and I suggest we continue the discussion there. In kind regards Heb (talk) 08:32, 16 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cycling in Copenhagen edit

It is quite a while ago by now but I have just seen that you have removed a lot of the article about Cycling in Copenhagen which I have created and written most of. It is great that you take an interest in the subject but I must say I am rather surprised to see your changes. The sections you have removed (or moved to the article about cycling in Denmark) are very much relevant to the article specifically about Copenhagen and I have therefore reinserted them. I made the article because I wanted to develop a comprehensive coverage of cycling in Copenhagen and it is not enough that some of the info can be found in a more general form in the article about Cycling in Denmark. You are welcome to help adding information which make the article relate more specifically to Copenhagen (there is certainly still much room for improvements) but please don't remove substantial parts of the article again. And I must admit I find it rather inappropriate that you did so without even even discussing it first. Ramblersen (talk) 23:42, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry that you find it inappropriate, however it is after all WP:NOTYOURS. My intention was (and still is) to get the text into a more genericized frame, making it easier to get further expansion, while avoiding large chunks of redundancy. On the other hand, I don't bear the same feelings as you apparently do for the subject, so please do whatever suits you best. In kind regards Heb (talk) 02:25, 28 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Fast prøveskilt edit

hej heb, you added a [citation needed] tag to this   fast prøveskilt. i've found some very short info about it. as i understood it (with my limited danish) it's a temporary plate of some sorts (?) what do you think it is and should i remove the image? --Infestor (talk) 09:50, 23 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hey Infestor, my {{fact}} was intended to be associated with the statement "A vehicle bearing this kind of plate can only be driven in Nordic countries, not elsewhere". As far as I know this is no longer true, but I haven't been able to find an unequivocally and reliable source (such as SKAT who handles registrations of vehicles in Denmark these days) that confirms either. The current law on vehicle registration in Denmark (sorry I can only find it in Danish :() only mentions that the "grænsenummerplader" ($116) may be used in the Nordic contries and nothing about that the "fast prøvskilte" may be, unlike previous legislations (§89). Thus I believe that the page you have found on politi.dk is an old outdate one, but I do not hold certainty for it. Hence my addition of {{fact}} :). In kind regards, Heb (talk) 11:11, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
yes, that pdf i found from the politi seems to be old (from 2005). i guess the {{fact}} tag should be there until someone finds updated info about it. the reason i added fast prøveskilt image is that once i've seen it on a ferrari in københavn (couple of months ago) and my curiosity ensued :) --Infestor (talk) 12:17, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply
Makes sense. A lot of Ferraris in Denmark are on fast prøveskilt so that the owners can reduce taxation on the vehicles. In 2003 there was a event in Copenhagen called Ferrari dag (Ferrari Day), where I by coincidence walked by the parade of Ferraris. Quite a lot (I guestimate two thirds) of those were on fast prøveskilt for that reason I suppose. --Heb (talk) 13:15, 24 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

Copenhagen edit

Hi Heb. Thanks for your recent edit to Copenhagen and your observations on the Open Society source. I must admit I was summarising the figures in the report, especially those in the section headed "Befolkning og demografi" (p. 33) and the footnote on p.24 together with the comment in Section 2.1.2 Københavns Kommune which reads: "I januar 2009 blev indbyggertallet (inkl. både danske statsborgere og udlænndinge) for Københavns Kommune opgjort til at være 518.574. Heraf var 109.865 (eller 22,2%) invandrere eller efterkommere fra både "vestlige" og "ikke-vestlige" lande (se Tabel 7 nedenfor)." I have now more clearly specified the page numbers. The report explains that much of the basic data come from Statistics Denmark which I have now also cited. In an overview of this kind, it is not possible to cite all the individual figures but you will find my summary is correct. I have however changed the date to 2010 as the information is based on statistics collected in 2009. Unfortunately Statistics Denmark has since discontinued these breakdowns. Please let me know if you find any other citations in the document which require attention or clarification. We are trying to bring the article up to GA standard in the near future.--Ipigott (talk) 11:56, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I actually do believe that you can use the table 'FOLK1' i Statistikbanken for this purpose:
In 'Oprindelsesland' select 'Vestlige / Ikke-vestlige lande' under 'Summeringer' (let it reload), then in 'Oprindelsesland' select 'Markér alle', in 'Område' select 'København' and in 'Herkomst' select 'Markér alle'. Click 'Vis tabel'. For the 2013K4 data I get 439,824 of Danish origin, 41,423 immigrants and 4,628 descendants from Western countries, 56,026 immigrants and 27,099 descendants from non-Western countries, totaling 569,000 inhabitants. This gives 8.1% immigrants and descendants from Western countries, 14.6% from non-Western countries and 77.3 of Danish origin, which does seem to correlate with your numbers (though I couldn't get it to fit yesterday...). --Heb (talk) 12:48, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for these details but I don't seem to be able to access the information you cite. If you think the numbers need to be updated, I suggest you update them yourself with the necessary references.--Ipigott (talk) 13:11, 6 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
