19:52:20, 8 September 2015 review of submission by Bgondringer2

This is the draft that was denied for the reasoning that my sources were not sufficient. Could you tell me what specifically I can change? I'm not sure if it's a problem with the citations or if it is the sources themselves. I am an intern for Sen. Morfeld and all the information about him in this draft was approved by him. It can also all be found on our state legislature's website, which should make that source verifiable. This is my first wikipedia draft so any guidance and suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

You need to show significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject to show notability.- Happysailor (Talk) 19:05, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Draft:George Quinn re-review from the 7th of September

Hi Happysailor, You reviewed a draft article that I wrote on the 7th of September (Draft:George Quinn) and I was wondering if you have some time to review it again. I left you a message on my talk page as well a week ago, but I didn't get an answer yet. I added major changes to the article and the references that I used are trustworthy and show that George Quinn is a notable subject/firm. I would really appreciate if you would take another look at the article. Thank you! Regards, --Domiriat (talk) 11:46, 17 September 2015 (UTC)

About Draft:Parker_Ito

Hi!, I apologize for the confusion with Parker Ito, I submitted a draft but decided to publish it directly. It seems the draft page was already deleted. I apologize for the misunderstanding. MetatarsiCairn (talk) 23:22, 14 September 2015 (UTC)

You did a copy/paste move of your draft in your process to move it to mainspace. Both the mainspace copy & the draft were merged which is why the draft now doesn't exist. Next time, i would wait and let the AFC process finish - Happysailor (Talk) 16:33, 18 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for visiting and editing

This is 15tinybirds. Thank you for visiting my Schnitzel Records draft and editing it. I don't know what you did to it, but it looks like the categories now show up at the bottom of the page - Thank You!! They were giving me fits because they just wouldn't show up even though they were in the source code! Today and tomorrow, I am learning how to do citations "properly" at the bottom of the page, so they don't look so ugly. I have all the text on my hard drive; just gonna try to figure out how to make that page pretty, and at the Wiki standard... then I can go back to adopting bad Engrish typos on Wikipedia in general. :)

Please do keep helping me, because I only have 51 edits, and only one with adding references to the page (the Schnitzel draft). I'm still sorta greenhorn. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Schnitzel_Records_Ltd.

My userspace drafts

Hi. For some reason I'm being targeted by an IP editor and they keep adding AFC tags to my drafts, which result in them getting moved (like this). I'm not the one adding these tags, as I usually move the page myself or ask an admin, and the drafts are not ready. If you come across anymore of my drafts with an AFC tag, could you possibly undo the edit or remove the tag? Thanks. - JuneGloom07 Talk 15:22, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Image at Jeffery Jones

Hi Happysailor, I notice that you reverted the addition of a mug shot of Jones from the article, with the following edit comment: "Addition of negative unsourced content to a biographical article" with your revision as of 17:00, 16 June 201. This image has returned (it has been in the article in the past). The intent of including the image appears to reflect the editor's disapproval of the actions of the subject of the article, so it would appear to be non-neutral. However, the image comes from a citable source, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In reviewing WP:BLP, I don't see a justification for omitting the image. What are your thoughts? I'll watch this page. Sincerely, User:HopsonRoad 15:54, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

I'm confused what your asking of me? I haven't removed any image from the page in question. The only edits on 16 June on that page were reversions of vandalism, which have been oversighted so even I can't tell what was reverted? - Happysailor (Talk) 12:04, 10 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your checking back, Happysailor. What was judged to be vandalism at that time, was the addition of the mug shot, which may have been included with an intent to malign, but appears to be consistent with the reportage on the subject of the article. I was asking for your perspective on whether inclusion of the image comports with Wikipedia policy. Sincerely, User:HopsonRoad 13:44, 10 October 2015 (UTC)

Hi, Another trip to the library to track down specific references to Dr. Schoenfeld may be necessary, but before I do that I thought I'd ask if TIME, Newsweek, and SF Chronicle articles are the types of things you are looking for as that is what I would be spending my time tracking down. Hi, thank you for reviewing my article.

My article was declined, though by another user, however my question is different:

You have erased some of my references, and though I went through the manual I couldn't figure out why, or what is the right way to cite these sources: mostly old news paper clips. Thank you again for the time you spent going over my article and for helping improve Wikipedia. Ghbeeri (talk) 15:22, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

The references were removed, because they don't exist. - Happysailor (Talk) 19:29, 19 October 2015 (UTC)

I hope I'm not asking for too much: what is the right way to add old newspapers as references? I have only a paper copy. I added them as photos to wiki commons and linked to there, and I guess that they were removed due to copyright breach. ( I did go through wiki citation rules and copyright rules, but didn't understand it. ) Ghbeeri (talk) 08:57, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

RNLI page updates

Hi HappySailor!

I work for the RNLI in the communications team and have a list of small revisions to correct/update on the following pages (boat names that aren't quite right mostly) - I've used wikipedia for a long time and didn't want to directly make the changes inline with wikipedia best practice as I work for the RNLI

The pages I have amends for are:

I'm contacting you as you clearly already do much great work on these pages - would you prefer me to:

  1. make edits on the pages directly
  2. post a list of changes on the relevant talk pages
  3. email the list to you (email me on social@rnli.org.uk if that's the case)

Thanks, Luke

Hi Luke. Thanks for the message. It sounds like you're already well aware of the conflict of interest guidelines, so I won't go into it, except to say that options 2 & 3 are probably the best course of action to ensure no-one can accuse you of COI editing etc.
Initially, as you probably have quite a few changes, you can either post the updates you think should be made here, or you can email them to me (see the image that shows you where the link is to do that), and I don't have a problem with going through them etc. In the future, you can either continue to do that, or you can make suggestions on the relevent talk pages of any edits etc that you think should be made at that article. - Happysailor (Talk) 18:50, 23 October 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, much appreciated!
We use both “and” and “&” within our boat names – we have to use what’s given to us in the will (in case you were wondering why some were each type – the exception being ALBs which have to be “and” for call sign reasons)
B class page
  • B-881 location for this boat is “Hartlepool”
  • B-885 “Julia & Angus Wright”
  • B-886 – allocation has changed and is now “Peter and Ann Setten” – location is also due to be Abersoch
  • B-888 – “Sheila & Dennis Tongue”
D class page
  • D-776 “SuperG II” – no space between Super and G and then a space between G and II
  • D-777 “Vi and Charles Hogbin”
  • D-780 “Hick’s Help”
  • D-784 “Joan Woodland”
  • D-786 Allocation is now “Redcar”
  • D-787 “XKalibur”
  • D-788 “Leslie & Mary Daws”
  • D-791 “Mary & Archie Hooper”
Shannon page
  • ON 1318 “Nora Stachura”
  • ON 1319 is not due until 2016
  • ON 1320 is not due until 2016
  • ON 1323 “Elizabeth and Leonard” due in 2016 and location is “Amble”

Dear Happy Saylor, I find your manner extremely high handed. What happened to courtesy and truth? You have deleted my edit re the subject matter in the headline. I am far more qualified than you to "speak" on certain facts reading the Welsh Development Agency. I owned it as a private company. Why are you censoring fact? Nothing I have written or intend to write is inaccurate or shows bias. Methinks you and I need to agree a form of words. I have to ask are you politically motivated? — Preceding unsigned comment added by WDA OWNER (talkcontribs) 21:33, 5 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. First, since you are hilariously accusing me of being politically motivated, you could at least get my name right... Secondly, I was extremely courteous by explaining in my edit summary why I reverted your edit, and by leaving you a message on your talk page. In regards to 'Truth', read Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth.
In regards to your edit, your edit had nothing to do with the QUANGO Welsh Development Agency. Your edit is about a private company with the same name, so should be in it's own article - but ONLY if your private company is notable enough for it's own article.
Lastly, regardless if you feel you are more qualified or not to 'speak' on your company, you have a Conflict of Interest, and so in fact should NOT be editing or creating articles in regards to YOUR company. - Happysailor (Talk) 10:46, 7 November 2015 (UTC)
Oh I haven't made a mistake re saylor= dancer or acrobat. Now my edit had eveything to do with the QUANGO but you are just not qualified to comment. You have no idea as to the real politics, history drives. The company I owned and the QUANGO are intertwined in way you will never understand. I have no conflict- that's rubbish. Prove a conflict. Its claar why WIKI gets its poor (color-ful hah)reputation. How to modify my page and resubmit

Hi Happysailer,

Thanks for review my page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:SmartPixel, unfortunately it was declined, I don't know why, maybe because of the review list, I was tried to write the page for nearly one day and tried my best to not to break wikipedia rules.

In your reviews you said What you can do: Add citations (see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners) to secondary reliable sources that are entirely independent of the subject.

Frankly speaking I can't find out reliable sources meet your standard, can I remove the referal blank or add later? Can you please show me what should I do to get this page listed on wikipedia, thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex.shawn1216 (talkcontribs) 02:50, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Thank you very much for your support.I will try my level best to provide inline citations to this Article further. ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. RNLI boat name and location updates

hi there, we've spotted a few more items to update on RNLI lifeboat pages:

Atlantic 85 page:

  • Boat name for B-890 (Youghal) is: Gordon and Phil
  • Boatname for B-891 should be: Renée Sherman
  • B-889 / B-890 and B-891 are all due in 2016 (not 2015)

Shannon-class lifeboat:

  • ON1322 (Scarborough) should be: Frederic William Plaxton
  • ON1324 (Skegness) should be spelt: Joel and April Grunnill

As I work for the organisation, I didn't want to make these amends myself - for future reference, when we relaunch our website later in the year (RNLI.org) we'll be putting future boat names/locations etc on there which can act as a verified source.

Thanks!

Luke

Request on 19:52:35, 3 April 2016 for assistance on AfC submission by Bvweelde

Dear Sir,

I strongly protest against your decision made to reject my article about Edward_Boyd_Barrett. The man worked the most part of his life in an enclosure amidst the Order of Jesus Christ which he finally left. As of the numerous books he published non were reviewed. The publishers he had contact with all went bankrupt. Is it the policy of Wikipedia to reject articles just based on the absence of references and the lack of proof of his nobility? You can't be serious in this, right? Or is Wikipedia also controlled by the Jesuit Order, like all other 'objective' media sources?

Bvweelde (talk) 19:52, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

Your draft was declined by three seperate reviewers, all of whom declined with the same reason, that you have failed to show notability of the subject in question. All articles must be verifiable, so yes, we will reject articles that have no references or do not show notability, otherwise, every man and his dog would have an article. - Happysailor (Talk) 14:23, 4 April 2016 (UTC)

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. New Page Review needs your help

Hi Happysailor,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Happysailor. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

False accusation

You falsely accused me of vandalizing the page for Gross Reservoir, on my talk page. I request that you verify this and that you apologize. I reverted vandalism done by another user. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 14:26, 25 February 2017 (UTC).

If you take a look at the page, you will see that the other editor was reverted, not you, so it looks like a glitch in Huggle warning the wrong user - Happysailor (Talk) 14:28, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
The Huggle page says, "Warning: You take full responsibility for any action you perform using Huggle." I again ask that you apologize. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 14:37, 25 February 2017 (UTC).

Name change from Tarun Shatriya to Sulile Kumar aka Tarun Shatriya

I request you to change my page title from "Tarun Shatriya" to "Sulile Kumar aka Tarun Shatriya" , Reason being my name change in the recent times — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sulile kumar (talkcontribs) 15:23, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Article titles do not include an 'aka' in their titles. Articles go by the name the person is knows as. - Happysailor (Talk) 17:32, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Because you are deleting content from a page, while adding and usurping the page in question. if you think they are notable enough to have an article on them, then write one the correct way - See Wikipedia:First article - Happysailor (Talk) 17:32, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

Applied Memetics

You may reverse any changes you wish, but Kek is not pleased by your attempts at harmony. Applied Memetics is a science and an art, NOT a cult. Please do not bring such bigoted and prejudicial language to the Wikipedia atmosphere, kthx bai. 2605:E000:AC40:7F00:E1FD:EE41:7DBE:A402 (talk) 16:27, 26 February 2017 (UTC) Four Tildes - Four Tildes Ln., Tildeton, Nation of Tilde, 16:27, 26 February 2017 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Happysailor. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 15,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:47, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
