Discogs as a source Can you tell my why 'Discogs' is not considered by the editors to be "an acceptable or reliable source"? It's not that I'm interested in using Discogs particularly. It's that I need to know what it is about a source that makes it unacceptable and/or unreliable so that I might recognize it in other sources. Please forgive my ignorance in this. I haven't done Wikipedia edits in many years and it seems there are a lot of new things I have to learn.

Hi, I would like to know why my article on Luc Bequette was denied. I have linked many “published, reliable, secondary independent sources” in the article. There are many other college football players with Wikipedia pages and many without the accolades of Luc Bequette. In addition, he is also the son of Olympic figure skater Debi Thomas and is the cousin of a US Senate candidate Jake Bequette. I believe that these qualify for notability. Could you please elaborate on why it was denied? I added several more sources in this version of the article after being denied in a prior attempt for the same reason. Thanks! Did you ever come across anything while writing this that explains the name?

It seemed odd to me that you'd have a Western Australian brewery named after a Victorian town when there was already at least five existing breweries of that name, all founded by the same brothers, when Fremantle appears to be unrelated, but I wasn't able to find any explanation for it. I've seen this happen before. Editors move a page and leave a redirect and then a different editor changes the redirect to an article. When the draft is deleted, Twinkle sees the first editor, the editor who moved the page and left the redirect, as the page creator and leaves them this message. Hi, I am writing regarding my recent article on Babafemi Badejo. I see it was decclined as it appeared a duplicate of an existing draft. I am a beginner in here and had my earlier draft deleted. I had put in more research and evidence of third party sources into the draft I submitted for review yesterday. The draft appearing as a duplicate was actually written in a different language, I only read by transcribing. I must have shared some similar sources with the editor of the draft. However, my latest version is a more thoroughly researched and richer draft. I would sincerely appreciate any help and support to see that it is not declined or deleted.

Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

See the linked articles for references about these ones being bank buildings, and being significant, too. This is about Draft:List of bank buildings. Legends of People, Myths of State

Hi Dan arndt, I came across a couple of copyright violations on Commons today which I nominated for speedy deletion and which have since been deleted. They were used in the article Legends of People, Myths of State which, it turns out, had earlier been knocked back by you at Articles for creation. It has since been created by the user anyway without any obvious improvement. To me it still lacks notability or at least the proof of. What is your opinion? Common Ground (Big Big Train Album)

Hi Dan arndt, Can you talk with me more about my entry for Big Big Train's album Common Ground? Since it is a small, independent band there is very little information that is not directly from the Band's website, articles from Loudersound.com, or from a review blog. I am trying to improve the band's Wikipedia presence by adding this album. Most of their other albums use fewer sources, with quite a few using similar sources that I did since there are very minimal independent sources on the band and their work. Well not exactly, the intention was not to be a travel guide as you say, but it was actually translated from the Czech Wikipedia with the same title. I got the exact same references as it had but translated from Czech of course to English, so if it seemed like that, then it probably was because of that specific reason.
