Article was about a brand, not a company

Team Sure Win is a brand or trade mark owned by a company. The wiki article was about the brand, which companies are operating it, in this case 2 companies from 2 countries, how it evolved, and notable entities that used or uses the brand. There are news articles, youtube videos, and other media that support some of the claims. --HungKami (talk) 17:33, 6 January 2016 (UTC)

Why The Speedy Deletion?

Not sure why you would mark up for speedy deletion James Francis Gallatin, I would hope it was clear that it had been established beyond doubt that you cannot make a CSD A7 query i.e. why its subject is important or significant is answered.

1. He forged a key book still cited today on the 1812 War, his name is mentioned in a National Newspaper in May this year to that regard http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/the-rothschild-libel-why-has-it-taken-200-years-for-an-anti-semitic-slur-that-emerged-from-the-10216101.html
2. He is a key figure in early 20th century gay literature

formatted your post as I imagine you intended See WP:NOTABILITY. If there isn't enough coverage of a topic in reliable, independent published sources than it shouldn't have an article. Opinions are irrelevant in this case, and two brief mentions in a single article aren't enough to establish notability under the guideline.

Images

Well thats where I disagree. I don't believe the images are cluttering the article at all (except the "double play" one on Castros is probably unnecessary). Especially on Coghlans article. Its just in a bad area.--Yankees10 17:07, 9 July 2014 (UTC)

Well that took a turn. Might want to remain civil with your lame "control the article" nonsense. I already said that the double play pic on Castros should probably go. I don't see the problem with the others and I don't believe it violates LAYIM. I really don't see the problem with Coghlans two images either. How does one change Arriteas picture? There's not much point of having a picture from his Baltimore Orioles days. Rojocube (talk) 15:39, 14 December 2015 (UTC)

I agree that it would make more sense to have the infobox picture be of Arrieta in a Chicago Cubs uniform. However, it is more important for the picture to identify him (i.e. showing his face). I have yet to find a picture suitable to upload to Wikimedia Commons. Until there is a suitable picture, the article will continue to show Arrieta in an Orioles uniform. Sorry, but I've declined your speedy. A11 is not for tagging articles about people - it's for things that (WP:AGF) could be real, but sure as hell ain't notable. This means things like new words like 'squizzler' that are 'widely used' (amongst six kids at a school in Deadrock Flats, AZ), drinking games like Vodka Pong (invented last week by Joe Bloggs, and almost identical to Beer Pong but somewhat more lethal), new sports that are widely played (see 'squizzler' above) and are a cross between baseball and croquet, or like cricket played with a nerf ball, three candles and a kitchen spatula. They may be hoaxes, they may be real. If real, so few people know that about them there's no chance of articles. Hoaxes are different - they are definitely intended to deceive or to devalue the encyclopaedia. People can be real and not significant (A7), or hoaxes (G3). They aren't made up - unless, of course, fictional characters that aren't in published works. (Real published fictional characters have to go to WP:PROD or WP:AFD if they don't deserve articles. A real person can't be made up, but can be not significant or the centre of a hoax article. (Or, of course, may be notable...) A11 may seem vague, but if you ask yourself 'Could this be real?' and get the answer 'Yes, but who the hell cares', and it's not something solid (or liquid even), it is probably an A11. There will probably be kids, students, inventors or mathematicians involved. In its first days, basketball would have been a made up - I mean, who is going to take any notice of kids throwing a soccer ball into a peach basket nailed to a wall? It'll never catch on... But when the evidence is there, so will be the article. You're not the first to get A11 wrong - and you won't be the last. OK? Best wishes for whatever you celebrate (and if you don't, hard luck...) Thanks for that. I use the Content Translation system to translate the articles and it doesn't allow you to edit the references (that I know of). As such you often have to change the parameters of the CITE tags (like from 'titre=' to 'title='). I usually do this, but this time the references didn't use the CITE system and they actually were hand written. So I missed this. Thanks for pointing it out. Matt Murton

Here is my stance. It has been two days since the first reporting of him signing with the Cubs. Multiple media outlets reporting. How often do you see multiple reports after multiple days, and they all turn out to be false. It is not that often. How often when you have MLB.com, FoxSports, etc... , making an article about Matt Murtton, or someone else, and it turns out nothing happens, not that often, rarely even at all. All I am saying, not just about Matt Murtton, is when there is enough evidence to prove that something has happened, and it has been more than 1 day, that page needs to be updated. If anything, a discussion needs to be made for this problem all over the Wikipedia website. The Baseball Guy (talk) 02:55, 6 February 2016 (UTC)

While this deal has been reported by many media outlets, it has not been officially announced by the Cubs. Because Wikipedia is not a crystal ball we cannot assume the reports are accurate or that the deal will be finalized. A good, recent example where a reported deal fell through before being finalized is the case of Aroldis Chapman. A deal was reportedly struck between the Reds and Dodgers to send Chapman to LA, however the deal fell through and Chapman is now a member of the Yankees. If you're ever in doubt of whether a deal is official, often times good place to check are the team's Twitter feed or their transactions page. Hope this helps. It is not incorrect information. If you have me blocked, I will appeal. Simple as that. What I did is not Vandalism. Simple enough, you are the only one to have a problem with Matt Murtton. If there is a change in reports, then change the page. More often than not, numerous reports are usually correct. Aroldis Chapman was an exception, news came out after that changed things. Here's the thing: As you indicated there are exceptions to reported events and until transactions are reported as official by the team, we cannot speculate and assume the deal will become official. WP is an encyclopedia of things that have happened, not of events that will more than likely happen.

Because WP is a collaborative effort among its users, discussion is indeed encouraged. However, speculative information can never be included in an encyclopedia. @Corkythehornetfan: Why in the world would you remove File:Illinois Victory Badge.png from the two articles it pertains to, and then request the file to be deleted? The Illinois Victory Shield is an official secondary logo used by the Illinois Athletic Department and serves as a means to identity Illinois athletics. Cubbie15fan (talk) 18:49, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

I removed it from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign article because it violates WP:NFCC#8 and WP:NFCC#10c. It is a secondary logo (WP:NFCC#8) for Athletics and is a non-free image that doesn't have a valid rationale (WP:NFCC#10c)... which also leads me to WP:NFCC#UUI §17 and WP:NFCC#1. The main Athletics logo (a Public Domain image) is used in the university article and WP:NFCC#1 states that the usage of secondary logo is equivalent to the usage of the primary logo. We don't use secondary logos unless it's a wordmark that has to be used in articles that the main non-free image can't be used in. When I browse search engines, I only see the "I" block logo – the most commonly found image for Illinois Fighting Illini. I only find the shield being used on the athletics website.

When it was removed from the articles, it became orphaned... which is why it was up for deletion. I will remove it from the university article, but will continue to discuss with you on the usage at the athletics article if you wish. 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 22:58, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

And this is why I find WP irritating lately...seems like a bunch of work to enforce a bunch of rules, regulations, and red tape all to determine whether a logo of a college athletic department should be included as encyclopedic material. (Original Research and Excessive Intricate Detail) I have read the wikipage on these but am unsure of what it is talking about and how to fix the problem. I have worked quite a lot on this page and would definitely be disappointed if something were to happen to it. @Pzhanik: First of all, I recommend reviewing the definition of an Internet troll and you should WP:Assume good faith.

Secondly, and more importantly, much of what you have added to Syracuse Orange men's basketball is excellent. However, with your edits, you have also added some Original Research, Weasel Words, and Flowery Language that take away from a Neutral point of view. I have been going through the edits you've made and the references that were included. Most of it is valid, but a neutral point of view needs to be maintained since WP is an encyclopedia. @Pzhanik: The maintenance tags are appropriate to add given the additional content that was added to notify other users of the issues that need to be resolved. I am going through the article to make the necessary changes as time permits. You are welcome to do so too, in addition to anyone else. It should also be noted that it doesn't matter whether unconstructive edits are your own point of view or someone else's point of view. If they are not neutral in nature, then changes need to be made.
